Colonoscopy is an examination of the large bowel (colon). The doctor uses an endoscope (a flexible tube with a light at the tip) to view the inside of the large bowel. Getting ready for the test, the test itself, care after, and possible complications are discussed. If you are given sedation, you must not do certain activities for 24 hours after the test.
