Abstract
Since the first edition of the Handbook on Drowning in 2005, many epidemiological data have confirmed the burden of drowning in several parts of the world. Studies have increased the understanding of effective drowning prevention strategies, rescue techniques, and treatment options. Much has been learned about submersion and immersion hypothermia, SCUBA-diving injuries, the life-saving preparations of water-related disasters and how to deal with forensic investigations. In this updated second edition, experts from around the world provide a complete overview of current research data, consensus statements and expert opinions. The book Drowning provides evidence-based practical information and has a unique informative value for various groups with tasks, duties and responsibilities in this domain. In addition, the book may be an inspiration for future networks and research initiatives.

Abstract
This book focuses on endovascular methods for resuscitation and trauma management. Written by highly qualified and clinically active physicians from around the world, it shares information gathered over the past decade, providing a comprehensive database of clinical knowledge for a wide range of practicing clinicians and researchers. Moreover, it describes basic methods for vascular access, methods for REBOA (Resuscitative Endovascular Balloon Occlusion of the Aorta), endo-grafts and embolization methods, as well as other, more advanced methods for endovascular and hybrid resuscitation (CPR REBOA, ECHMO etc.) from the pre-hospital to the post-surgical phase. As the body of literature in this field has grown considerably over the past five years, the book also focuses on summarizing what is known, what the clinical and research evidence is, and “how to actually use” the various methods. It will help readers understand basic and advanced modern techniques for bleeding control and modern resuscitation, and how to apply them in clinical practice.
Contents
The Concept of EndoVascular Resuscitation and Trauma Management - Building the EVTM team -- Principles of Modern Trauma Resuscitation -- Endovascular Management of Cervical Vascular Trauma -- Endovascular Management of Thoracic and Abdominal Trauma -- Endovascular Surgery for Extremity Trauma -- Principles of REBOA -- Partial REBOA -- REBOA in Traumatic Brain Injuries -- REBOA-induced Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury -- REBOA in Non-traumatic Cardiac Arrest -- Endovascular Balloon Occlusion in Obstetrical Hemorrhage -- Pre-hospital and Austere EVTM -- Endovascular Embolization in Trauma and Bleeding -- Management of the Unstable Patient during EVTM and REBOA -- ExtraCorporeal Membrane Oxygenation in the Unstable Trauma Patient -- Post-operative Critical Care Management Considerations -- Complications of Endovascular and Hybrid Surgery -- EndoVascular Resuscitation and Trauma Management - Education and Simulation.

Abstract
This book provides up-to-date guidance on the diagnosis and treatment of sudden death, including sudden cardiac and non-cardiac death. Sudden death (SD) has become a major challenge confronting not only cardiologists, but also specialists in respiratory medicine, endocrine medicine, infectious diseases, etc. Chronic diseases are also among the causes of SD. This book summarizes the occurrence of SD, especially in specific groups (such as women, young and middle-aged groups), its causes, predisposing factors, lifestyle, morbidity, point of care testing, and advanced treatment methods including extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and hypothermia treatment. In order to improve the early diagnosis, prevention and treatment of SD in clinical practice, the book also provides extensive data on its pathophysiological mechanism, epidemiology and etiology, together with detailed analyses.
