Abstract
Through case presentations and a question and answer format, Clinical Decisions in Nephrology, Hypertension and Renal Transplantation provides a state of the art, updated reference for the optimal management of patients with diseases of the kidneys, and hypertension. This volume starts with the assessment of the patient, focusing on history and physical examination. Subsequently, cases depicting various clinical syndromes and/or diseases are presented, with questions centering on the appropriate diagnostic and treatment strategy. This sets the stage for a Socratic approach' to learning between the attending physician and the house staff or medical student. This is the only book featuring problem-oriented true to life clinical cases in this format to cover nephrology, hypertension and kidney transplantation. Written by renowned actively practicing clinicians, this unique reference is both comprehensive and concise and will be of great value to hospitalists and internists, as well as students, and interns/residents rotating in nephrology and internal medicine.Clinical practitioners, in the fields of critical care and hypertension specialists would also find this of value.

As the number of people aged 65 years and above rises, physicians are increasingly confronted by elderly patients with impaired renal function, altered drug metabolism and multiple comorbidities. This book examines in detail the nature of renal injury in the elderly and its optimal management. A wide range of key topics are covered, including end-stage renal disease, diabetic nephropathy, acute kidney injury, drug metabolism and renal toxicity, dialysis and its complications and the use of renal transplantation. In addition, the assessment of glomerular filtration rate in the elderly and the role of novel renal biomarkers are carefully examined. Quality of life issues, the significance of other age-related medical problems and end of life care are also discussed. This book will be of value not only to nephrologists but also to general practitioners, medical students, intensivists, cardiologists, pharmacologists and those working in related specialties.
Contents

Abstract
This book describes the recent advances in the understanding of the development and management of renal vascular disease (RVD). Current perspectives regarding the epidemiology of atherosclerotic RVD, its clinical manifestations, and the interaction with injury pathways related to the kidney have evolved considerably, and the widespread introduction of non-invasive methods for identification of RVD using ultrasound, CT, and MR imaging has allowed more facile identification of these diseases than ever before. Renal Vascular Disease provides an accessible, up-to-date summary of the pathophysiology and management of RVD. The clinical paradigms that are emerging in the field, both in regards to RVD and its role in chronic kidney disease (CKD), cardiovascular risk, and the cardiorenal syndromes are discussed in this comprehensive text, making it an essential resource for clinicians and investigators who tackle the challenges of RVD.

Abstract
This book offers a thorough and critical appraisal and evaluation of the key published clinical trials that have shaped current practice in nephrology, dialysis and transplantation. It will help the practicing physician close the gap between the inflexible and generalized nature of clinical guidelines and the day-to-day clinical decision-making for individual patients. Furthermore, it will provide clinicians with the tools required to investigate and extract the appropriate guidance to apply to individual and often complex cases encountered in daily practice. Lastly, it will improve the ability of junior colleagues to appraise available evidence in a systematic way when there is lack of local guidelines or when the guidelines are difficult to apply due to logistic constraints or barriers. Informing Clinical Practice in Nephrology: The Role of RCTs is an essential reference text for renal specialists, nephrologists in training, transplant and renal surgeons as well as, researchers in renal medicine, intensivists specializing in acute kidney injury (AKI), immunologists, general practitioners and other clinicians who are interested in chronic kidney disease (CKD).

Abstract
Through 5 editions, Pediatric Nephrology has become the standard reference text for students, trainees, practicing physicians (Pediatricians, Nephrologists, Internists, and Urologists), sub-specialists, and allied health professionals seeking information about Children’s Kidney Diseases. It is global in perspective and reflects the international group of editors, who are well-recognized world’s experts in Pediatric Nephrology. In a single text, the development of kidney structure and function is followed by detailed and comprehensive chapters on all childhood kidney diseases. These chapters, grouped by major disease categories, utilize molecular and cellular pathophysiology of disease to provide unique and comprehensive information of the current state of the art on all known childhood kidney diseases. Each chapter makes new genetic information easily understandable for the practitioner, and uses many algorithms and diagrams to describe appropriate clinical evaluation of symptoms, differential diagnosis, specific diagnostics, and currently available therapies. The text is not only found in University/Hospital libraries, but on the shelves of sub-specialists, pediatricians, internists, urologists, and extensively in the clinics where it is used during clinical encounters with childhood kidney disease.

Abstract
This book offers a detailed review of the pathological and imaging features, diagnosis and treatment of IgG4-Related Kidney Disease (IgG4-RKD). IgG4-related disease (IgG4-RD), which is characterized by an elevated serum IgG4 level and infiltration of systemic organs by IgG4 positive plasma cells, is a newly recognized systemic disease. Diverse renal manifestations including specific tubulointerstitial nephritis, membranous nephropathy, and tumor-like urological diseases extending to the pelvis and urinary tract in IgG4-RD have been reported and are recently attracting attention as IgG4-RKD. In this book, leading researchers in the field present the latest insights into the broad spectrum of IgG4-RKD characteristics. In addition, they provide a detailed explanation of the pathology of IgG4-RKD including comparisons between the kidney and other affected organs, such as the lacrimal, salivary glands and pancreas in the histopathological section. IgG4-Related Kidney Disease will have a major impact on future immunological and nephrological studies and offers a useful resource not only for nephrologists but also general physicians and investigators in related fields.

Abstract
The new edition of this valuable clinical resource offers a state of the art, comprehensive review on every clinical condition encountered in pediatric nephrology. International experts present the latest knowledge on epidemiology, diagnosis, management, and prognosis in one concise, clinically focused text, in which care has been taken to couple just the right amount of "need-to-know" basic science with practical clinical guidance that will enable the reader to make efficient, informed decisions. The topics covered in Pediatric Kidney Disease, Second Edition include: disorders of renal development, glomerular disorders, the kidney and systemic disease, renal tubular disorders, tubulointerstitial disease, urinary tract disorders, acute kidney injury, hypertension, chronic and end-stage renal disease, and renal replacement therapy. The disease-specific chapters offer detailed coverage of diagnostic work-up, laboratory evaluation, and management of disorders and complications. Information is also provided on important related issues, including the genetic origins of diseases, the potential value of proteomics in the evaluation of renal disorders, and a section completely dedicated to complement-related renal disorders Pediatric Kidney Disease, Second Edition ensures that the practitioner is able to source and apply information with remarkable ease. It is also an ideal resource for those preparing for pediatric nephrology board examinations.

Abstract
This book guides readers through a wide spectrum of clinical presentations in patients with arterial hypertension and different degrees of renal impairment, ranging from asymptomatic urine abnormalities to end stage renal disease. On the basis of six case studies, the author reviews and discusses current guidelines and recommendations aimed at optimizing the diagnostic and therapeutic approach both to renal and cardiovascular risk in commonly encountered real-world clinical scenarios including challenging cases of diabetic kidney disease, ischemic nephropathy and resistant hypertension. It also explores anti-hypertensive drug combinations, including single or multiple RAAS-I, lipid lowering and antiplatelet drugs, as well as the appropriate use of glucose lowering drugs in the context of chronic kidney disease. This handy and practical book provides physicians in the area of general and internal medicine, as well as specialists in the cardiovascular, metabolic and renal fields valuable insights into optimal therapeutic targets for blood pressure and glucose control in renal patients.
