Abstract
This superbly illustrated book is a comprehensive and detailed guide to the contemporary arthroscopic management of intraarticular fractures. The opening section addresses a variety of basic aspects and key issues, including the difficulties posed by intraarticular fractures, principles of fixation, cartilage healing, and rehabilitation. The minimally invasive surgical techniques appropriate to individual types of fracture are then fully described and depicted, covering fractures of the shoulder and elbow, wrist, pelvis and hip, knee, and ankle. Guidance is also provided on avoidance and management of complications and rehabilitation. The closing section addresses relevant miscellaneous issues, including arthroscopic management of temporomandibular joint fractures and extended indications for endoscopy-assisted fracture fixation. This volume will greatly assist both trainee and more experienced surgeons in selecting and executing arthroscopic techniques when treating patients with these complex fractures, which entail the risk of poor long-term function and further deterioration.

Abstract
This book is intended as a state-of-the-art reference guide that will help surgeons arrive at the correct diagnosis, make appropriate treatment decisions, and perform various surgical procedures in patients with intra-articular hip fractures. The volume describes the complex anatomy of the acetabulum and proximal femur and correlates it with appearances in radiological imaging. In addition, it explains the process of assessing and classifying typical fracture patterns, presenting and discussing specific, up-to-date treatment strategies. The book clearly highlights the advantages and disadvantages of several surgical approaches for the hip and pelvis, such as surgical hip dislocation, hip arthroscopy, the pararectus approach, and combined approaches. Individual chapters are also devoted to the management of specific fracture types: acetabular fractures, femoral head (Pipkin) fractures, femoral neck fractures, traumatic hip dislocations, and pathological fractures due to osteoporosis or tumors. For each surgical approach, the authors identify typical complications and document long-term outcomes. This book is part of the series Fracture Management Joint by Joint.

Abstract
Demonstrating current management techniques for traumatic fractures and dislocations of the upper extremity, this atlas utilizes a practical, how-to structure, discussing philosophy, approach, patient positioning, prepping, draping, and surgical techniques for each type of injury. Generously illustrated with intraoperative photos, the chapters of this atlas are arranged by anatomic location, from the clavicle and shoulder down to the fingers, with each chapter briefly describing the thought processes involved in choosing surgical interventions and applied anatomy approaches, fixation selections, and techniques. Actual case examples, cadaver photos and plentiful radiographs illustrate the text for a strongly visual presentation, and a list of "Eglsederisms"--pithy bits of advice for residents and veteran surgeons alike--set the stage for a highly demonstrative resource for orthopedic and trauma surgeons, residents and fellows.

Abstract
Bringing together the many considerations and complexities surrounding the management of pediatric femur fractures, this up-to-date, comprehensive book discusses all aspects of these common but challenging injuries, where the treatment strategies are rapidly changing and which have the potential for complications and less than ideal outcomes. Because there may be multiple acceptable treatment approaches to a given fracture, we sought to review the full spectrum of therapeutic modalities. The entirety of the pediatric femur is considered, including femoral head and neck fractures, diaphyseal, physeal and epiphyseal fractures, and intra-articular fractures of the distal femur. Opening with chapters on development and anatomy as well as radiological evaluation, each fracture type-specific chapter discusses the indications and contra-indications, advantages and disadvantages, technical principles and published outcomes associated with each of the accepted techniques, from casting and traction to external and internal fixation. Concluding chapters discuss pathological fractures and the evaluation and management of complications. By channeling the expertise of a broad and accomplished group of authors with extensive experience in both researching and treating pediatric femur fractures, Pediatric Femur Fractures provides caregivers with the most complete and reliable resource when faced with any of the many types of this challenging injury.

Former title: The Basic Principles of External Fixation Using the Ilizarov Device.
Abstract
When it was developed, the Ilizarov device represented a revolutionary advance that made it possible to correct previously untreatable conditions through the stimulation of bone growth based on the principle of distraction osteogenesis. The device subsequently gained popularity among surgeons throughout the world since it can be used for the treatment of fractures that have failed to heal satisfactorily and for deformity correction. The technique is, however, complex and requires specialist knowledge if it is to be applied optimally. This is the second edition of a well-received book that focuses primarily on external fixation using the Ilizarov device but also considers other devices employed for the purpose. The opening chapters include discussion of biomechanical principles, use of a system of coordinates to allow safer insertion of K-wires and half pins, preoperative preparation, and principles of frame construction. External fixation of a variety of fractures in different pathologic settings is then clearly explained in a series of detailed chapters with the aid of high-quality illustrations. Numerous case reports are included to illustrate the results of different treatment methods. In addition, principles of postoperative management are described and advice is provided on correction of errors and treatment of complications. Since the first edition the text has been thoroughly updated, with inclusion of contributions from leading world experts. This volume will serve as an indispensable manual both for trainee orthopedic surgeons embarking on a steep learning curve and for more experienced surgeons requiring advice and guidance in demanding cases.
