Abstract
Contemporary spinal surgeons, whether orthopedic or neurosurgeons, are increasingly recognizing minimally invasive spine surgery (MISS) as a valuable option for managing advanced degenerative diseases. MISS techniques minimize blood loss and surgical site pain, while speeding recovery. Thus, the combination of MISS with adult spinal deformity was a natural choice. Currently, the techniques, technologies, and education of surgeons have finally reached a point where MISS deformity surgeries are becoming commonplace. Nevertheless, the field is young enough (and still evolving) that no comprehensive texts have addressed the unique challenges it poses for surgeons. This book fills that gap.

Abstract
In recent years, mini-invasive surgery has become increasingly important for reducing the risk of infection and minimizing blood loss and volume of implants. Hip surgery requires small incisions, which make the use of the appropriate equipment and an extensive knowledge of the anatomy of the region essential. Mini-invasive surgery requires the surgeon to consider the indications for surgery for each patient he treats and to know the exact loco-regional anatomy for that patient. Methods must be very precise and warrant visual explanations to help teach young surgeons.

Abstract
Since the first endovascular repair of abdominal aortic aneurysm was reported in the early 1990s, there has been an explosion in the volume and complexity of endovascular and hybrid procedures for the treatment of aortic diseases. Endovascular techniques and technologies have evolved from the initial devices that allowed treatment of only the most straightforward infrarenal aneurysms with appropriately long and straight necks to the scenario that pertains today, wherein a customized endovascular solution is almost always available for even the most complex aortic aneurysm. There is growing evidence in favor of the endovascular treatment of these aneurysms, which extend above the visceral aortic segment, as well as for the treatment of thoracic aortic dissection and aneurysm. These new endoaortic surgical procedures have been proven to shorten hospitalization, reduce morbidity and mortality, speed recovery, and hasten return to normal life, while their evolution and conceptual design would obviously not be possible without the simultaneous explosion in medical imaging technologies that has taken place over a similar time period. The Atlas of Advanced Endoaortic Surgery has been compiled to engage its readers in a comprehensive yet concise manner, with numerous illustrations of real clinical cases. It provides a useful tool for practitioners as they plan and execute treatment of patients with these various aortic pathologies, and serves as a useful reference as this segment of the field continues to evolve.

This book offers a comprehensive description of the main surgical treatments for adrenal tumors, encompassing both open surgery and laparoscopy. Introductory chapters cover surgical anatomy, pathology, the clinical diagnostic pathway, the role of different imaging techniques, and perioperative management. After discussion of general principles of adrenal surgery and instrumentation, individual surgical techniques are described in detail with the aid of step-by-step color photos and schematic drawings. For each procedure, careful attention is paid to indications and contraindications and to the most frequent complications. A further feature is the inclusion of numerous helpful decision-making algorithms for diagnosis and treatment. The text is structured according to the principles of "best practice" and the guidelines on evidence-based medicine and will thus be a valuable tool for practitioners in their clinical work.

Abstract
Lymphoscintigraphy is now widely applied for radioguided biopsy of the sentinel lymph node in patients with solid cancers and is considered crucial for adequate planning of oncologic surgery in a growing number of cancers. This atlas presents a collection of richly illustrated teaching cases that demonstrate the clinical relevance and impact of lymphoscintigraphy in different pathologic conditions. The principal focus is on the use of lymphoscintigraphic mapping for radioguided sentinel node biopsy in cutaneous melanoma and cancers at a range of anatomic sites. The most commonly observed lymphoscintigraphic patterns are depicted, and anatomic variants and technical pitfalls of the procedure receive careful attention. The role of tomographic multimodality imaging is also considered. This atlas will be an excellent learning tool for residents in nuclear medicine and other specialists with an interest in the field.

Abstract
The majority of the obese population still does not take advantage of the available surgical possibilities. Clinical research should be oriented towards less invasive procedures that could be accepted by the mainstream. In 2012, most non-invasive bariatric techniques are still not standardized or sufficiently assessed, but they are being constantly upgraded. The purpose of this book is to spark a discussion between experts from around the world, and to gather relevant information on new technologies that will make it possible to enlarge the vision of bariatric care to a growing number of morbid obese and non-morbid obese patients.

Abstract
Minimally invasive joint replacement has become one of the hottest topics in the orthopedic world. In the case of the knee, however, this concept has been widely misunderstood. All too frequently it is taken to mean keyhole surgery in which traditional components are implanted with a shorter surgical time. Such an approach in fact has few benefits and various possible dangers. In this book, international experts discuss truly minimally invasive knee reconstruction techniques that involve tissue-sparing surgery and small implants and permit preservation of both the anterior and the posterior cruciate ligament. These techniques have the key advantage of respecting the physiological joint biomechanics. They also entail minimal removal of bone tissue from the tibia and only a small skin incision that avoids damage to the extensor apparatus. All of the most innovative techniques used in uni- and bicompartmental knee reconstruction are covered in detail, including computer-assisted procedures. Long-term results are reported, and pitfalls, highlighted. The reader will learn how, with careful selection of patients and rigorous surgical technique, compartmental reconstruction offers a valid alternative to total knee replacement.

Abstract
The SAGES Manual on the Fundamental Use of Surgical Energy (FUSE) emphasizes good communication and promotes best practice for the use of electrosurgical, ultrasonic, and microwave energy sources in the operating theatre. This manual describes the basic technology of energy sources in the operating room and demonstrates the correct use and indications of energy sources in clinical practice. It also addresses the potential complications, hazards, and errors in the use of surgical energy sources and evaluates the potential interactions of energy sources with other medical devices. Any healthcare professional who has ever picked up an energy device in the OR such as a "Bovie" , Ultrasonic or bipolar instrument will better understand how it works, when to apply it, and what are the possible hazards and errors in its use. The SAGES Manual on the Fundamental Use of Surgical Energy (FUSE) is the first volume of its kind to provide such guidance and will be of great value to surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, endoscopists, and allied health care professionals who use these devices.
