Abstract
This book identifies the most common presentations and essential features of top dermatological conditions in patients with skin of color. It presents practical information in a case-based organization to assist dermatologists in clinical decision making, and discusses important cultural beliefs that must be considered in order to provide optimal care to patients with skin of color. There is an increasing demand for dermatologic treatments in patients with skin of color, as well as an accompanying need for education and training in this quickly expanding market. Skin of color is a key topic within dermatology as specific conditions can be harder to diagnose effectively in darker skin, and patients' treatment can be compromised by this. Clinical Cases in Skin of Color: Medical, Oncological and Hair Disorders, and CosmeticáDermatology is a concise resource with practical guidance for board certified dermatologists and dermatologists in training.

Abstract
This book focuses primarily on the most efficient way to make an accurate FNA diagnosis of metastatic tumors within the broad confines of cytopathology. The text provides a step-by-step "thought process" during the diagnostic approach of the metastatic tumors using detailed algorithms. Starting from the onsite immediate FNA sample assessment, the book provides strategy of specimen triage to facilitate further cytology evaluation based on the metastatic patterns and morphologic patterns of the tumors. In the subsequent chapter, the book provides tips and traps of selecting markers and interpretation of immunoperoxidase, flow cytometric, cytogenetic and molecular studies. The book includes the strategy of dealing with limited FNA material and wisely use existing samples (cell block, direct smear, cytospin) for different ancillary studies including molecular tests that have been used at MD Anderson. The author highlights challenging issues to show the importance of using a multidisciplinary (clinical, radiologic, cytologic and ancillary studies) approach. Extensive illustrations are provided. Metastatic Neoplasms in Fine-Needle Aspiration Cytology will provide pathology residents, fellows, practicing cytopathologists and cytotechnologists with a practical way to approach metastatic malignancies in daily cytology practice as well as provide a vision of the future of cytopathology.

Abstract
Providing a comprehensive review of short-and long-term adverse events of both antiresorptive and anabolic drugs, this practical guide updates the clinician on the pathophysiology of osteoporosis and the principles behind our present and future pharmaceuticals. Leading practitioners in the field examine all current literature and data regarding the duration and safety of these therapies, with recommendations for clinicians on decision-making and best practices for osteoporosis patients. An overview of the pathophysiology and epidemiology of osteoporosis and discussion of both anabolic and antiresorptive drugs is followed by fracture risk assessment and an examination of treatment failures. Next, a number of chapters are dedicated to the diagnosis, presentation and management of atypical femur fractures and osteonecrosis of the jaw (ONJ), each of which are significant patient concerns when using these osteoporosis treatments. The introduction and utilization of drug holidays is also discussed, as well as the long-term outlook for management of osteoporotic patients. Written and edited by experts in the field, The Duration and Safety of Osteoporosis Treatment is a balanced resource for researchers, practitioners and policy-makers alike for clinical decision-making and patient care.

Abstract
In keeping with the growing emphasis on psychiatry in the medical school curriculum, problem-based learning (PBL) offers students a unique patient-centred, multidisciplinary approach to study and the synthesis of knowledge. The new 2nd edition of Problem-Based Behavioral Science and Psychiatry integrates DSM-5 updates and diagnostic criteria, and is fully consistent with PBL models and methods. Building on the strengths of the popular and widely downloaded 1st edition, the 2nd edition is a clinically robust resource for both the medical and the behavioral science student. Over 40 contributors, many themselves graduates of PBL medical schools, apply problem-based learning methods to specific psychiatric disorders, general clinical issues, and bedrock physician skills such as the intake interview and treatment planning. The book's fictional case vignettes illustrated typical patient scenarios, providing real-world context for content areas, and accompanying case diagrams show the relationships between patient behaviour and underlying neurobiological structures. Each student-friendly section ends with helpful review questions. A sampling of the content areas covered: Childhood development and brain development. Major psychiatric illnesses, including personality, mood, anxiety, and psychotic disorders. Stress, substance abuse, and violence. Eating, sleep, and sexual disorders. Coping skills and treatment compliance. End-of-life care. PLUS chapters on cultural sensitivity, ethical concerns, and the physician/patient relationship. This book is ideal for first and second year medical students wanting to learn about psychiatry in the exciting context of realistic cases. It also makes an excellent prep/review text for third- and fourth-year medical students preparing for the USMLE Step 1 and 2 exams, as well as being suited to graduate students in psychology or clinical social work. Problem-Based Behavioral Science and Psychiatry encourages lifelong learning and helps build the foundation for a lifelong career.

Abstract
This comprehensive and authoritative second edition offers food scientists, nutritionists, public health specialists, and those involved in the research and development of new beverages an exhaustive survey of how common beverages impact our health and nutrition, as well as a basis for research designed to produce healthier beverages. Every year brings an improvement in our understanding of how the many types and aspects of what we drink (beverages) impact our health and a desire to understand the current state of affairs for beverage technology. There is still no new single book that provides objective reviews on the wide range of global health issues associated with alcoholic ad non-alcoholic beverages. Beverage Impacts on Nutrition and Health, Second Edition is the single best source of reviews that describe beverage history; coffee, tea, alcohol, wine, cranberry and citrus juice, tea, coffee, dairy milk, soy milks and breast milk. Furthermore the book contains up-to-date reviews that describe beverage effects on satiety and energy balance, recommendations for persons with diabetes and metabolic syndrome, nutritional supplementation for the elderly, performance enhancement by athletes, energy drinks, and bottled water qualities. The final chapters summarize soft drink marketing issues, health effects of sugar and high fructose corn syrup, beverage ingredient functions, beverage labeling regulation and the importance of trends in beverage development. These updated chapters are objectively written to emphasize peer-reviewed references and minimize the anecdotal references often seen in the current literature describing beverages and their impact on our health and nutrition. All chapters are authored by recognized authorities from industry, the health-care system, and universities. This book contains 24 concise and user-friendly chapters intended to enable readers to grasp the message quickly and easily.

Abstract
This book discusses health disparities in respiratory medicine and suggests methods to reduce them. In the United States, health disparities are well documented in the care of patients with respiratory disorders, particularly among minorities who often have higher rates of disease and poorer health outcomes. Similarly, differences in health and health outcomes exist between differing socioeconomic groups, with lower income groups generally having poorer health and higher rates of chronic illness. Health Disparities in Respiratory Medicine investigates these differing outcomes through the complex connections between access and quality of treatment available to these groups. Chapters are organized around either causes, diseases, or types of care, including tobacco smoke exposure, environmental air quality, acute respiratory distress syndrome, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and end-of-life care. This volume is an ideal resource for pulmonologists, health care administrators, and policy makers who aim to understand disparities in respiratory medicine and take steps to improve the differences among groups.

Abstract
This book provides up-to-date guidance on optimal care of the patient with an underactive bladder. It covers all aspects of management, including clinical evaluation, urodynamic diagnosis, standard care, drug therapy, and emerging treatment options. Nursing issues are extensively discussed, and advice offered on the use of catheters and avoidance of catheter-related complications. Further chapters address epidemiology, pathophysiology, animal modeling, and health care costs. While most practitioners are familiar with overactive bladder, the converse condition of underactive bladder has generally remained far below the radar. As a consequence, there is still a lack of empirically validated treatments and effective treatment strategies. This is a matter of concern, especially as the burden of the condition is expected to rise in line with the aging of global populations. The Underactive Bladder is a major step forward in improving the understanding of the condition, raising awareness, exploring best practices in patient care, and searching for future therapies. It will be invaluable for urologists, geriatricians, other specialists, researchers, and nurses.

Abstract
The lessons from this book help surgeons prepare for emergency events that require disaster preparedness usually handled by the United States military, including chemical attacks and massive casualty events. Written by experts in the field perspectives that come from various combat zones and disaster sites, this book highlights the pitfalls to avoid, the organization that is essential for success, and the tips to help perform surgery in the most austere conditions. The book will address situations where surgeons may have to operate on wanted criminals, operate wearing chemical protective equipment, operate in a collapsed building, or even remove an unexploded device. The book includes cases from the battlefield that are designed to guide surgeons facing these scenarios in the civilian world. There are also chapters detailing the lessons learned from the Boston Marathon Bombing, airline disasters, and the Oklahoma City bombing. Unlike any other current text, Surgery During Natural Disasters, Combat, Terrorist Attacks, and Crisis Situations is an excellent resource for all surgeons who might be faced with these events.

Abstract
This book provides a quick study and reference guide for physicians who treat patients with autoimmune bullous diseases (AIBDs), the most life-threatening inflammatory diseases of the skin. AIBDs are rare, and comprise less than 1% of the dermatological patients. As such, they are often given little focus in general dermatology literature, despite being complicated and demanding diseases . Autoimmune Bullous Diseases Study Guide: Text and Review is written in direct and simple diction with tables and figures to practically illustrate this difficult field. At the end of each chapter the reader is challenged to check the learned matter with multiple-choice questions. It contains protocols and follows international guidelines, making it suitable study material for courses on autoimmune bullous diseases. Residents and researchers in dermatology and adjacent disciplines will find this book useful as a quick guide when dealing with these patients.

Abstract
Comprised exclusively of clinical cases involving Dupuytren's contracture, this concise, practical casebook will provide clinicians in orthopedics and hand surgery with the best real-world strategies to properly diagnose and treat this recurrent disease of the fascia. Each chapter is a case that opens with a unique clinical presentation, followed by a description of the diagnosis, assessment and management techniques used to treat it, as well as the case outcome and clinical pearls and pitfalls. Initial chapters discuss non-operative treatments ranging from orthosis/tissue mobilization, corticosteroid injections, needle aponeurotomy and collagenase injections. Various surgical interventions follow, including fasciotomy, fasciectomy, open palm, and dermatofasciectomy. Chapters discussing the use of skin grafting, illustrating the special challenges associated with revision surgery, and "end of the line" interventions such as arthrodesis and amputation are also included. Less common aspects of Dupuytren's are reviewed as well, as are cases that address treatment and special consideration in younger patients, the role/use of dynamic external fixators in Dupuytren's care, correction of distal interphalangeal (DIP) joint contractures and treatment of dorsal finger (Garrod's) nodes. Pragmatic and reader-friendly, Dupuytren's Contracture: A Clinical Casebook will be an excellent resource for orthopedic and hand surgeons alike.

Abstract
This book is open access, which means that you have free and unlimited access. This book highlights the ethical issues and dilemmas that arise in the practice of public health. It is also a tool to support instruction, debate, and dialogue regarding public health ethics. Although the practice of public health has always included consideration of ethical issues, the field of public health ethics as a discipline is a relatively new and emerging area. There are few practical training resources for public health practitioners, especially resources which include discussion of realistic cases which are likely to arise in the practice of public health. This work discusses these issues on a case to case basis and helps create awareness and understanding of the ethics of public health care. The main audience for the casebook is public health practitioners, including front-line workers, field epidemiology trainers and trainees, managers, planners, and decision makers who have an interest in learning about how to integrate ethical analysis into their day to day public health practice. The casebook is also useful to schools of public health and public health students as well as to academic ethicists who can use the book to teach public health ethics and distinguish it from clinical and research ethics.

Abstract
While there is not one global definition of the term "food poverty", the evidence from the chapters in this book suggest food poverty can be seen from three perspectives: 1) the causes and constraints facing both individuals, households, communities and policy makers, 2) constrained choices or the "lived experience" and 3) the health impacts or outcomes. As a working definition of food poverty, this approach suggests that where constraints are such that it is not possible for individuals or households to consume a nutritionally adequate diet, they could be considered to be in food poverty. The modern food system has introduced new complexities to food insecurity with the growth of micro-nutrient inequalities. As a result of growing levels of poverty and inequality, hunger and obesity are not being faced by two different groups, but often by the same group. While the developed world faces a problem with overconsumption and chronic diseases, the developing world is addressing the double burden of hunger and over-consumption. Even in the developed world, nation states are facing the rise of modern malnutrition, which includes both over-consumption and the re-emergence of hunger: over-consumption combined with austerity. The volume undertakes a critical examination of food poverty and food security by addressing topics such as tensions over the role of the state, the movement towards rights and responsibilities around food, and the rising tide of food poverty. Auth ors also cover possible solutions at both national and city state levels. The editors conclude with a chapter that draws together the issues and locates solutions within a food policy framework of the total food system. These studies help reveal the complexities of food insecurity within a global context, with the goal of clarifying taken for granted assumptions in present discourses.

Abstract
This textbook reviews the novel techniques employed in corneal transplantation. It will assist fellows and corneal surgeons in using these techniques to best effect and in selecting patients for surgical procedures, taking into account the benefits and risks. Corneal transplantation has been performed for more than 100 years. Until 15 years ago the state-of-the art type of transplantation was penetrating keratoplasty. Since the start of this millennium, however, important advances have been made in developing new surgical techniques. Today, the vast majority of keratoplasty procedures are performed as delicate lamellar procedures, either with the assistance of fine microkeratomes or femtosecond lasers or using very advanced surgical dissection procedures. Corneal Transplantation provides detailed information on these and other advances, which have helped patients undergoing keratoplasty to achieve a much faster visual recovery and a more stable eye with less risk of rejection episodes.

Abstract
This book reviews recent important advances in the use of optical coherence tomography (OCT) in order to analyze neurodegeneration within the retina through the quantification of axonal loss. Detailed information is provided on the role of OCT as a promising tool for the evaluation of disease progression in numerous neurodegenerative disorders and as a biological marker of neuroaxonal injury. The disorders considered include multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, intracranial hypertension, Friedreich's ataxia, schizophrenia, hereditary optic neuropathies, glaucoma, and amblyopia. Individual chapters are also devoted to OCT technique, new OCT technology in neuro-ophthalmology, OCT and pharmacological treatment, and the use of OCT in animal models. As well as being a valuable tool for diagnosis of many retinal diseases and monitoring of surgical and medical treatment, OCT allows study of the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) containing the axons of the retinal ganglion cells, which form the optic nerves, chiasm, and optic tracts. Since retinal axons are nonmyelinated until they penetrate the lamina cribrosa, the RNFL is an ideal structure for visualization of any process of neurodegeneration, neuroprotection, or regeneration. It is for this reason that OCT has been applied in various areas of neurology over the past decade, becoming a hot topic and generating great enthusiasm among neurologists and ophthalmologists.
