Abstract
This book reveals aspects of the management of patients with implantable cardiac devices beyond the direct cardiovascular benefits. With approximately 600,000 new pacemakers implanted each year, electrical therapy of the heart has rapidly evolved over recent years. New technology is continuously introduced into the market for the treatment of electrical heart disease with optimized performance and implemented design. While much attention has mainly focused on the biomedical aspects of electrical therapy, the psychological, emotional, social and cognitive aspects of the implantable devices have been largely overlooked. Psychological, Emotional, Social and Cognitive Aspects of Implantable Cardiac Devices considers the impact that these devices have on quality of life (QoL) and psychological disorders, including anxiety and depression. It has collected, appraised and condensed the results of all empirical studies that have investigated, even marginally, the relationships between the implantable devices and any psychological, emotional, social and cognitive dimension and is thus a cornerstone for all involved in device utilization (physicians, nurses, technicians, industry representatives) that need to understand this topic.

Abstract
In this book, expert researchers and practitioners share essential information about providing mental health services to older adults in forensic contexts, and to the courts and judges involved. As the U.S. population ages, the needs of older adults will increasingly inform all areas of mental health practice. In coming years, psychologists can expect to play a more prominent role in helping legal decision makers to understand the unique aspects of older adults'cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning. Clinical providers will have more opportunity to help older adults and their families as they struggle with challenging legal issues such as civil litigation, eligibility for benefits, and incarceration. Chapters in this book describe the nuts and bolts of civil litigation as it relates to brain injury, dementia, PTSD, and pain; assessment of competency to stand trial and to be executed; and the special treatment needs of incarcerated older adults. Also included are chapters on assessing testamentary capacity, assessing older adults pursuing VA benefits, and psychology's role in guardianship and conservatorship decisions.
Contents
Introduction -- Part I. Ethics and Validity Assessment - 1. Ethical Issues in Forensic Geropsychology -- 2. Performance Validity Assessment: Disentangling Dementia From the Disinterested and Disingenuous -- Part II. Civil Contexts - 3. Traumatic Brain Injury and Dementia: Considerations for the Forensic Geropsychologist -- 4. Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and Litigation With Older Adults -- 5. Pain and Litigation With Older Adults -- Part III. Criminal Contexts - 6. Assessment and Restoration of Competency to Stand Trial With Older Adults -- 7. Assessment and Restoration of Competency to Be Executed: Issues Related to Dementia and Cognitive Disability -- 8. The Insanity Defense With Older Adults -- 9. Abstract
Study Guide to Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is a question-and-answer companion that allows you to evaluate your mastery of the subject matter as you progress through Dulcan’s Textbook of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Second Edition. The Study Guide is made up of approximately 270 questions divided into 49 individual quizzes of 5–8 questions each that correspond to chapters in the textbook. Questions are followed by an answer guide that references relevant text (including page numbers) in the textbook to allow quick access to needed information. Each answer is accompanied by a discussion that not only addresses the correct response but also explains why other responses are not correct. The Study Guide’s companion, Dulcan’s Textbook of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Second Edition, has been thoroughly updated to reflect significant changes to psychiatric nomenclature and criteria in DSM-5. This new edition prunes older content while distilling and incorporating clinically relevant findings. Reorganized chapters feature tables of selected diagnostic criteria from DSM-5 for quick reference.

Abstract
This book gives clinicians a framework and tools to accurately assess moodiness in patients with ADHD, and to provide the most appropriate pharmacological and psychosocial treatments for such problems. This book reviews the assessment and treatment of moodiness in ADHD patients of all ages, but focuses primarily on children and adolescents. Chapters review effective assessment strategies for various potential causes of moodiness in patients with ADHD, then psychosocial and pharmacological treatments and their empirical basis. Specific chapters are devoted to the moodiness characteristic of ADHD itself, and to other disorders co-occurring with it such as disorders of mood, anxiety, trauma-exposure, disruptive behaviors, autism, substance use, and medical problems. The also text includes useful case summaries and tables to illustrate key clinical points useful in working with these patients. Moodiness in ADHD is a potentially vital resource for clinicians wanting to improve their skill working with patients having these challenging problems.

Abstract
This book illustrates the clinical interface between neurology and psychiatry by focusing on neuropsychiatric conditions characterised by alterations at the level of both motor function and behaviour. The neuropsychiatric approach to movement disorders and epilepsy is of key importance in clinically assessing and treating these common and often disabling conditions. While addressing the clinical challenges posed by the behavioural aspects of movement disorders and epilepsy, it invites readers on a journey through the evolving discipline of neuropsychiatry / behavioural neurology—both in the past and today. This discipline has an illustrious history, and continues its ascending trajectory in the new millennium through the activity of long-established national organisations (British Neuropsychiatry Association, BNPA, and American Neuropsychiatric Association, ANPA) as well as newly developed strategic research initiatives (Michael Trimble Neuropsychiatry Research Group, MTNRG).

Abstract
This book presents a comprehensive neuropsychodynamic strategy for treating psychiatric disorders. Rather than pursuing an exclusively biological, psychological, or psychodynamic approach, it offers a methodology that links all three aspects in a unifying, integrative model. Central to this approach is the view of the brain as a bio-psychosocial organ in a neuro-ecological model, rather than the purely neuronal model often presupposed in current neuroscience and psychiatry. Moreover, the book views psychopathological symptoms as spatiotemporal disorders of the altered spatiotemporal structure spanning the brain and its surrounding world. The relation between one of the core symptoms and altered neuronal activity calls for the development of integrated, circular neuropsychodynamic models of psychopathological symptoms in severe psychiatric disorders and their treatment.

Abstract
This ambitious resource presents an inventive approach to integrating pediatric and mental health care based in comprehensive, family-centered service delivery. Its framework adds a problem-solving focus to the core principles of pediatric consultation-liaison psychiatry, emphasizing young patients' developmental, family, and social context. An international panel of expert clinicians explores the value of the mental health component in treating complex and chronic cases across varied settings, as well as practical considerations in implementing collaborative pediatric care systemwide, including at the global level. Detailed case histories illustrate skills and traits essential to making this problem-based approach work, such as multidimensional thinking, a prevention mentality, a dedication to lifelong learning, and empathy and respect for young clients and their families. Included in the coverage: Pediatric medicine for the child psychiatrist. Safety issues in a general medical facility setting. "Other medical" presentations and considerations in pediatric consultation-liaison psychiatry. Principles of biopsychosocial formulation and interventions in the pediatric medical setting. Preventive models for reducing major causes of morbidity and mortality in childhood. Child and adolescent psychiatrists, child and school psychologists, and physicians in pediatrics, general practice, and family medicine will welcome Pediatric Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry as both a robust training text and a blueprint for the future of children's medicine.

Abstract
This book presents state of the art knowledge on the psychopathology, clinical symptomatology, biology, and treatment of hallucinations in patients with psychoses and affective disorders. The opening section describes and examines the origins of the hallucinatory symptoms associated with schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, and drug- or substance-induced psychoses. In addition, progress in understanding of hallucinations in children and adolescents and chronic hallucinatory disorder is reviewed, and the value of a Research Domain Criteria approach in elucidating the emergence of auditory hallucinations is explained. The biological basis of hallucinations is then closely scrutinized with reference to recent genetic research, neurochemical studies, and functional and structural neuroimaging data. Outcomes of a meta-analysis of diffusion tensor imaging studies regarding the association between white matter integrity and auditory verbal hallucinations are highlighted. The closing chapters focus on the roles of drug treatment and electric and magnetic brain stimulation techniques. The book will be of wide interest to psychiatrists and clinical psychologists.

Abstract
This book addresses the fundamental importance of the proper assessment and treatment of sexual disorders in patients with mental disorders with regard to their treatment outcomes and adherence to therapies. In fact, patients with mental disorders often suffer from sexual dysfunctions and in many cases, pharmacological treatment causes sexual-dysfunction side-effects. However, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, eating disorders and psychotic disorders are often also characterized by sexual symptoms that have a profound impact on sexual function. The psychopathology of sexual behavior investigates deficits in the mind-body relationship that are expressed through sexual symptoms such as erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, vaginismus, orgasmic disorders, or lack of sexual desire. These symptoms can be considered both prodromal and as a consequence of psychological or psychiatric suffering. Written by a multidisciplinary team of experts, this book offers a valuable guide for psychiatrists, andrologists, gynecologists and psychologists.
