Abstract
The ACL-Deficient Knee: A Problem Solving Approach, focuses on problem analysis and problem solving, as well as analyzing the possibility of prevention. In each chapter, the biomechanics, anatomy, etc. that are relevant to the topic are reviewed. There are chapters where highly specialized surgical techniques are presented (v. gr. double bundle reconstruction or meniscal transplant), as well as developing areas such as ACL tears in children, where we are finding a growing number of injuries due to the increase of sports at early ages. These chapters are written by internationally renowned specialists who are pioneers in the topics analyzed. To further enhance the educational content, there is a collection of online step by step surgical technique videos that will allow the knee specialist to perform the techniques presented in this book.

Abstract
Adventure and extreme sports have developed significantly and gained enormous popularity over the past two decades, and are now performed by adventurous elite athletes as well as the recreational adventure sportsman. These sports, by definition, involve element of increased risk, and are usually performed in beautiful, exciting and remote locations or in extreme environments, far away from medical assistance. As more and more people are enjoying adventure sports, unfortunately increased numbers are becoming injured as a result. Future research is progressing alongside the sport development, to allow the sport mechanisms, injury patterns and predisposing factors to be better understood. It is the hope of all researchers to make the sports safer without detracting from their adventurous nature. This book combines the Editors love to the sports with their life as sports surgeons. The aim and scope of this text is to bring the sports medicine' involved in each of these sports into one volume. Each sport and discipline is explained together with their subtle similarities and differences, the common injury mechanisms, patterns of injury and treatment options and finally, the mental and physiological aspects of it all. In this book the Editors hope to deliver useful valuable information to surgeons, physicians, physical therapists and whoever treats or has interest in these amazing activities.

Abstract
When it was developed, the Ilizarov device represented a revolutionary advance that made it possible to correct previously untreatable conditions through the stimulation of bone growth based on the principle of distraction osteogenesis. The device subsequently gained popularity among surgeons throughout the world since it can be used for the treatment of fractures that have failed to heal satisfactorily and for deformity correction. The technique is, however, complex and requires specialist knowledge if it is to be applied optimally. This is the second edition of a well-received book that focuses primarily on external fixation using the Ilizarov device but also considers other devices employed for the purpose. The opening chapters include discussion of biomechanical principles, use of a system of coordinates to allow safer insertion of K-wires and half pins, preoperative preparation, and principles of frame construction. External fixation of a variety of fractures in different pathologic settings is then clearly explained in a series of detailed chapters with the aid of high-quality illustrations. Numerous case reports are included to illustrate the results of different treatment methods. In addition, principles of postoperative management are described and advice is provided on correction of errors and treatment of complications. Since the first edition the text has been thoroughly updated, with inclusion of contributions from leading world experts. This volume will serve as an indispensable manual both for trainee orthopedic surgeons embarking on a steep learning curve and for more experienced surgeons requiring advice and guidance in demanding cases.

Abstract
Nowadays, it is established that carpal ligamentary lesions may lead to instability and then to carpal arthritis. However, the variety of anatomopathological classifications and the multiplicity of surgical repair techniques reflect the difficulty of conceiving this ligamentary pathology. The clinical analysis and traditional investigation techniques face the complexity of the wrist. Its mechanical complexity is due to the number of synchronized bones in every movement of the hand. The clinical analysis of the wrist is insufficient to precisely measure the mobility of each carpal bone. Paraclinical examinations are also significant for clinical diagnosis. The tools available today range from X-rays to arthroscopy, including arthroCTscan and soon MRI. As concerns repair techniques, their diversity must not hide the fact that a biomechanical and physiological principle is involved and must be identified. This book is the result of a reflection of an expert group in the field of wrist pathology. It attempts to analyze, understand, explain and make comprehensible, if not obvious, the reflections that each practitioner should employ during the diagnosis and treatment of carpal ligamentary lesions. The focus is consciously not on degenerative carpal pathology, which usually enjoys more visibility. We hope that readers will benefit from the fact that fragmented pieces of knowledge are gathered in a single work, that they will find in this beginning synthesis inspiring to rethink a difficult and sometimes thankless surgery and to further the surgical advances of the 21st century.

Abstract
This book has been written step wise by enumerating various aspects of the importance of clinical examination derived by laying one's hands on the affected part. By a thorough clinical examination, it can help an individual to arrive at a tentative differential diagnosis of the condition and hence help in investigating the same by numerous tests which are relevant to the given condition. The manner in which a given case is handled in this way is far more important than the diagnosis of the condition and this feature comes with practicing the same many times. It is a must for anyone embarking in life on Orthopedics as a career.

Abstract
Until a cure exists, Dupuytren's disease and related disorders such as Ledderhose's disease will pose lifelong threats of functional impairment for affected individuals. A better understanding of the onset of disease, early detection and functional preservation are of the utmost importance to minimize the impact of these conditions. This book is based on presentations and discussions at the 2010 International Symposium on Dupuytren's disease held in Miami, Florida, but it also includes new data and additional chapters. It is hoped that it will raise awareness of this underestimated condition and promote cooperative efforts to work towards a cure. Up to date information is provided on the epidemiology, biology, and pathology of the disease. The principles and specifics of treatment are explored in detail. The indications for and techniques of radiotherapy, minimally invasive treatments and open surgery are fully explained. In addition, the role of physical therapy is considered as well as the care of relapse and complications. Treatment of Ledderhose's disease and Peyronie's disease is also discussed. This book provides invaluable information for hand surgeons, podiatrists, orthopedists, plastic surgeons, radiation therapy specialists and general practitioners. It will help to foster an interdisciplinary approach to the understanding and management of this debilitating disorder and related conditions.

Abstract
External Fixation in Orthopedic Traumatology is a textbook that focuses on the use of external fixation in the acute management of patients with serious orthopaedic injuries. The book highlights the indications for external fixation and provides an evidenced based guide to both the specialist orthopedic surgeon and the trainee. The manuscript is organised in 14 chapters covering the indications and surgical techniques for pelvis, lower limb and upper limb injuries, including detailed illustrations and clinical photographs that will enable the reader to rapidly visualise the structure of the construct and to plan the surgery accordingly. More general topics such as damage control orthopedics, the biomechanics of external fixation and medico-legal considerations surrounding the injured patients are also included to provide an overall picture of the Orthopedic trauma patient. The Combined experience of the editors and authors, their involvement in a number of external fixation system designs and their international reputation in the field contribute to making this textbook an essential tool that should be available to all orthopaedic surgeons dealing with injured patients.
