Abstract
Abdominal Ultrasound for Surgeons provides a comprehensive guide to the use of ultrasonography in surgical practice of abdominal diseases. The content is divided into three major sections focusing on basic principles of ultrasound, ultrasound anatomy and pathology of the abdomen, and employment of ultrasound of the abdomen in surgical practice. A final section is dedicated to the logistics of incorporating ultrasound into a surgical practice. The first section provides an introduction to the principles of ultrasonography focusing on ultrasound physics, equipment, and instrumentation. A detailed approach to the various scanning methods and image interpretation is demonstrated with illustrations, images, and video. The second section focuses on ultrasound anatomy of the abdomen. Each chapter demonstrates the normal and abnormal ultrasound anatomy of specific abdominal organ or organ systems (abdominal wall, liver, pancreas, biliary, stomach, anorectum, retroperitoneum, vascular) with illustrations and images. The current status and technique of endoscopic ultrasound of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tracks is addressed in this section. The third section provides a state-of-the-art review of the status of each major application of abdominal ultrasound in surgery. Topics range from trauma ultrasound and laparoscopic staging to techniques in ultrasound guidance and three-dimensional targeting. This section provides a comprehensive review of the employment of interventional, intraoperative, laparoscopic, transabdominal and endoscopic ultrasound. The fourth and last section addresses the practice aspects of incorporation of ultrasound into a surgical practice.

Abstract
This book offers up-to-date and comprehensive coverage of the diagnosis and therapy of adenocarcinoma of the esophagogastric junction (EGJ). As is appropriate in the era of multidisciplinary and multimodal treatment, the contributions of all the various specialists involved cooperatively in the treatment of EGJ cancer are thoroughly described. Detailed attention is also paid to the significance of preneoplastic lesions, such as Barrett esophagus. The final part of the book represents a surgical atlas documenting the techniques used in the EGJ region, with superb color images and stepwise description of procedures. Against the background of the rapidly increasing incidence in EGJ cancer, especially evident in Western countries, there is a need for greater uniformity in management strategies, which currently vary significantly across the world. This book provides appropriate guidance that will assist all practitioners involved in the diagnosis and treatment of EGJ cancers, including surgeons, oncologists, and radiotherapists.

Abstract
This textbook provides a comprehensive, state-of-the art review of ultrasound in thyroid and parathyroid diseases, and will serve as a valuable resource for all clinicians and allied healthcare providers who wish to advance their knowledge and skills in sonography. Although a novice sonographer will be able to understand all of the topics, these are presented from a vantage point of complex decision-making encountered in real clinical scenarios. The sections are organized according to a logical structure covering benign and malignant thyroid conditions, parathyroid disease, and ultrasound technology, ultrasound-guided interventions, and innovations. The style of the chapters provide practical, actionable information that is richly illustrated with figures and links to video cine-clips, as these form the real-time advantage of ultrasound compared to other imaging modalities. Since thyroid and parathyroid ultrasound is now mainly clinician-performed, the chapter topics aim to show how different specialists uniquely apply ultrasound in given clinical scenarios. The text illustrates the optimal incorporation of current practice guidelines, as this remains varied and inconsistent among clinicians. The content is written by invited experts who perform ultrasound in their daily clinical practices and participate in teaching ultrasound nationally and internationally. It conveys the most up-to-date scientific and clinical information in an interactive and visual format. Advanced Thyroid and Parathyroid Ultrasound fills a gap in currently available resources by serving as a single resource unifying information relevant to multiple specialists interested in advanced thyroid and parathyroid ultrasound. It provides a practical, concise yet comprehensive summary of the current status of the field that will help guide patient management.

Abstract
The first edition of this book was judged by many to be the best available atlas of upper gastrointestinal and hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery. The second edition builds upon this success by covering all of the significant intervening developments, including both new procedures and adaptations of established techniques. The atlas opens with an introductory section on the basic principles of operative surgery. All of the important techniques employed in upper gastrointestinal and hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery are then presented in a series of sections devoted to the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum, the liver, the biliary system, portal hypertension, the pancreas, and the spleen. General, oncologic, and transplantation surgical procedures are described step by step with the aid of more than 900 superb illustrations drawn by a team of artists with extensive experience. A further feature, much appreciated by readers of the first edition, is the inclusion of the authors' personal surgical tricks. The contributors have been carefully selected from across the globe; they have extensive experience in the procedures they describe and most are established educators.

Abstract
This book covers interventional treatments (minimally invasive therapies) for the management of various hepato-biliary disorders and the complications arising due to liver cirrhosis and portal hypertension. Given that interventional radiology and hepato-biliary interventions are comparatively new, very little literature is available on them. This book addresses that gap and offers practitioners and trainees a guide to the management of various hepato-biliary disorders requiring radiological interventions. The content addresses both non-vascular and vascular procedures. The respective chapters cover various procedures, such as image guided diagnostic tissue sampling (FNA and biopsies), guided liver abscess and biliary drainage procedures, liver tumor ablation, intra-arterial and intravenous techniques for the management of vascular diseases of the liver and portal hypertension, variceal bleeds and tumor management. Last but not the least, detailed chapters on interventions for post liver transplant complications are also included. The book is chiefly intended for practicing interventional radiologists, as well as fellows and trainees in interventional radiology courses.

Abstract
Diagnosis of benign tumors of the liver is experiencing exponential growth, mainly owing to the diffusion of more accurate imaging techniques. This monograph opens by examining the epidemiology, histopathology, and genetics of these diseases and discussing liver physiopathology. The role of imaging techniques is described, and clear guidance provided on differential diagnosis. The full range of benign liver tumors and conditions is then systematically reviewed, including liver cysts and polycystic liver disease, Caroli disease, hemangiomas, focal nodular hyperplasia, adenomas, hepatic manifestations of systemic diseases, and focal infectious diseases. Surgical indications are accurately analyzed, with a view to assisting in the avoidance of useless interventions. Transplantation, laparoscopic resection, and robotic surgical techniques are described and illustrated, emphasizing the optimization of intra- and postoperative management in order to avoid potential complications and degeneration. In these chapters, attention is drawn to the ways in which the surgical management of benign liver tumors differs from that of malignant tumors. Information is also provided on anesthesia, blood transfusion, the role of interventional radiology in patients with benign liver tumors and fast track programs for liver surgery. This book, in handy format, will prove essential reading for all who are interested in benign liver surgery and will represent an invaluable source of knowledge for general and hepatobiliary surgeons, whether in training or practice.

Abstract
The past 50 years have witnessed the growth and evolution of clinical electrophysiology from a field whose goals were simply to understand of the mechanisms of arrhythmia to one of significant therapeutic impact. The development and refinement of implantable devices and catheter ablation have made non-pharmacological therapy a treatment of choice for most arrhythmias encountered in clinical practice. Cardiac Arrhythmias: From Basic Mechanism To State-of-the-Art Management provides an electrophysiologic approach to arrhythmias predicated on the hypothesis that a better understanding of the mechanisms of arrhythmias will lead to more successful and rationally chosen therapy. It encompasses the anatomy of arrhythmias, diagnostic methods, comorbid diseases, and the treatment of all forms of cardiac arrhythmias. It discusses modern ablation and mapping techniques, while reviews the methodology required to define the mechanism and site of origin of arrhythmias, so that safe and effective therapy can be chosen. It will thus be of interest to all involved in the management of these patients, from clinical cardiac electrophysiologists themselves to clinical cardiologists, interventionalists, cardiac surgeons, emergency medicine physicians and researchers in basic cardiac science.

Abstract
While there are many outstanding resources providing in-depth review of electrophysiology topics, this extensively updated book is one of the few case-based books that comprehensively cover clinical electrophysiology, devices and ablation. Case review offers a simple, yet effective way in teaching important concepts, offering insight into both the basic pathophysiology of a problem as well as the clinical reasoning that leads to a solution. As the field of cardiac electrophysiology evolves, the challenge remains to educate new generations of cardiac electrophysiologists with the basics as well as the latest advances in the field. Cardiac Electrophysiology: Clinical Case Review collates the most comprehensive case-based reviews of electrophysiology designed to appeal to all students of the field whether they are fellows, allied professionals or practicing electrophysiologists. The Editors have recruited some of the true experts in the field to contribute cases that they have encountered and summarizing the important learning objectives in a succinct way. Covering clinical electrophysiology, device troubleshooting and analysis as well as intracardiac electrogram analysis and ablation, readers will find the cases useful as a review of electrophysiology or in their day to day interactions with patients.

Abstract
This book reflects how the concern regarding the effects of radiation exposure in patients and health personnel involved in cardiac electrophysiology (EP) has inspired new developments in cardiac electrophysiology procedures without the use of fluoroscopy. This innovative method has become a subspecialty within electrophysioloy with several EP laboratories around the world adopting an exclusive non-fluoroscopy approach. It features guidance on how to use three dimensional (3D) navigation systems, ablation energy sources and zero-fluorospic implantation of cardiac electronic devices. The potential complications and associated preventative methods with utilising RFCA are also described. Cardiac Electrophysiology Without Fluoroscopy offers a thorough description of the technique correlated to the performance of EP procedure without the use of radiation, and provides a valuable resource for those seeking a practically applicable guide on how to perform cardiac EP without fluoroscopy, including practising and trainee electrophysiologists, cardiac imagers, general cardiologists and emergency medicine physicians.
