Abstract
The liver is a complex organ due to its unique microscopic structure, intricate metabolic functions and susceptibility to a wide variety of insults, manifesting in countless histological patterns. Atlas of Liver Pathology considers both changes seen in medical liver biopsies as well as lesional biopsies when the specimen has been taken from a mass. The book starts by reviewing normal structure and its variants and the optimal approaches for the preparation of histological sections for diagnostic liver pathology. The following chapters are dedicated to developmental, metabolic, infectious, drug related, autoimmune, biliary, vascular and neoplastic disorders. Two sections on liver pathology in pregnancy and transplantation conclude the work. Macroscopic illustrations are included where appropriate. All photographs are complemented by legends describing the picture and providing relevant related information. Authored by nationally and internationally recognized pathologists, Atlas of Liver Pathology is a valuable resource that serves as a quick reference guide for the diagnosis of usual and unusual diseases.
Contents

Abstract
This Handbook is an indispensable guide for the multidisciplinary management of eating disorders. It discusses a broad range of issues: managing high-risk patients, the challenges of inserting feeding tubes, addressing nutritional aspects and dealing with additional disorders which might complicate matters, such as diabetes, coeliac disease and cystic fibrosis. It discusses fertility, pregnancy, and eating disorders in children and adolescents, as well as addressing the needs of families. Chapters contain key checklists and flow diagrams. Abundant pictures and conversations, coloured diagrams, charts, maps and boxes, support readers' varying learning styles and assist retention of key points. Vignettes taken from real (but strenuously anonymised) cases appeal to clinicians' preference for case-based learning. The book also functions as a practical manual of "What to do—and what NOT to do" with practical scenarios. In the acute situation, clinicians will be able to go directly to the relevant chapter to guide the team through the "when, where, how, why, and with whom" of assessing and managing patients with eating disorders. The book is primarily aimed at postgraduate physicians managing patients with Eating disorders on Gastrointestinal, Endocrine or general medical wards, and those who seek to deepen their expertise as they sit higher professional examinations. It is of interest to both medical and psychiatric clinicians, as well as useful to nursing and multidisciplinary staff who want to develop a compassionate understanding of the true pain driving their patients' behaviours.

Abstract
Progressive multiple sclerosis places a huge burden on individuals, carers and society and treatment options are currently limited. However, there have been significant recent advances in understanding progressive disease and this book draws the field together into a single, accessible, clinically focused text. Progressive Multiple Sclerosis sets out the basic science, pathology, epidemiology and treatment possibilities in progressive multiple sclerosis. The biological processes underlying disease progression are elucidated as are specific pathophysiological mechanisms. The basic science of axonal degeneration and the clinical understanding of progressive multiple sclerosis are discussed in the context of emerging and future therapies for disease progression as are trials which might be conducted for progressive multiple sclerosis. An overview of biomarkers for the disease is included and existing symptomatic therapies for progressive multiple sclerosis are covered in detail. Each chapter addresses specific aspects of progressive multiple sclerosis providing an extensive review of the current literature and a discussion of the likely mechanisms of tissue injury relevant to the disease. Progressive Multiple Sclerosis is ideal for both general neurologists and those with a specialist interest in multiple sclerosis. It will also be of interest to neurologists in training and other medical professionals treating this common disease. Dr Alastair Wilkins is Senior Lecturer in Neurology, University of Bristol, and Consultant Neurologist at Frenchay Hospital, Bristol, UK. He researches axonal injury in multiple sclerosis and related disorders.
Contents
General introduction -- What is disease progression? -- Epidemiology of progressive multiple sclerosis -- The neuropathology of progressive multiple sclerosis -- Mechanisms of disease progression -- Imaging disease progression -- Biomarkers of disease progression -- Symptomatic treatment for progressive multiple sclerosis -- Current treatments for progressive multiple sclerosis: disease modifying therapies -- Future therapies for progressive multiple sclerosis.

Abstract
This revised, updated second edition draws together the basic science, pathology, epidemiology and treatment possibilities in progressive multiple sclerosis. Each chapter addresses specific aspects of progressive multiple sclerosis providing an extensive review of the current literature and a discussion of the likely mechanisms of tissue injury relevant to the disease. New additions to the second edition include a description of clinical scales used to determine levels of disability; recent trials specifically directed at reducing disease progression; rehabilitation; and an in depth discussion of the similarities and differences between primary and secondary multiple sclerosis. The biological processes underlying disease progression are elucidated as are specific pathophysiological mechanisms. The basic science of axonal degeneration and the clinical understanding of progressive multiple sclerosis are discussed in the context of emerging and future therapies for disease progression as are trials which have been and will be conducted for progressive multiple sclerosis. An overview of biomarkers for the disease is included and existing symptomatic therapies for progressive multiple sclerosis are covered in detail. Progressive Multiple Sclerosis, Second Edition is ideal for both general neurologists and those with a specialist interest in multiple sclerosis. It will also be of interest to neurologists in training and other medical professionals treating this common disease.
