Abstract
In The Diabetic Foot: Medical and Surgical Management, 3rd Edition, a distinguished panel of clinicians provides a thorough update of the significant improvements in knowledge surrounding the pathogenesis of diabetic foot problems, as well as the optimal healthcare treatment for this debilitating condition. The authors, many practicing at the famous Joslin-Beth Israel Deaconess Foot Center, again illuminate the successful new multidisciplinary approach now clearly required for the successful treatment of diabetic foot. Drawing on the experiences of diabetologists, podiatrists, vascular surgeons, infectious disease specialists, orthotists, plastic and orthopedic surgeons, this invaluable third edition, so timely given the continued rise of diabetes and its complications, clearly describes established techniques known to be effective. This updated edition blends new knowledge with the time-tested principles of diabetic foot management and will be of significant value to all physicians and researchers with an interest in a state-of-the-art understanding of diabetic foot.
Contents

Abstract
Surgery needs skill. Skill needs knowledge. Knowledge of tricks, moves, and tools. This book is about such knowledge. Expert authors have contributed technical pearls, gained by years of experience. The short "how-I-do-it" chapters offer the reader a quick and effective guide that will be invaluable when addressing any penetrating injury. The book is not intended to serve as a comprehensive volume of pathophysiology and management in trauma; rather the goal is to provide practical solutions on how to treat injuries surgically. It describes the steps that you must take when, in the middle of the night, confronted with devastating bleeding, you will have only one chance to save a life!

Abstract
Global Orthopedics: Caring for Musculoskeletal Conditions and Injuries in Austere Settings was conceived and written to be a unique reference for surgeons working in resource-limited environments. The first sections provide historical background, global public health perspectives of orthopedics, the role of culture, and a broad discussion of non-surgical and non-orthopedic clinical topics that are rarely encountered in high-resource settings but that affect orthopedic care. Adult and pediatric trauma are presented in an anatomical format for easy reference, with a focus on the natural history and the best treatment methods within existing limitations. The chapters on musculoskeletal infections provide a wealth of knowledge about these common debilitating conditions that is unavailable in any other single modern text. The non-infectious pediatric conditions section has been written for the non-specialist to handle selected developmental and early childhood orthopedic problems commonly seen in low-resource settings. Detailed chapters on reconstruction surgery, tumor management, amputations, and the orthopedic needs in the face of conflicts and natural disasters round out the text.

Abstract
This book is designed as an easy to read reference and practical guide to the management of combat extremity injuries, which account for a high percentage of the injuries sustained in recent and current conflicts. The surgical techniques appropriate to the full range of extremity injuries and some other frequent injuries, such as trauma to the spine and pelvis, are clearly described with the aid of helpful illustrations. In each chapter a bottom line up front approach is adopted, providing key messages first; a further important feature is the emphasis placed on case-based information and lessons learned from practice. Care has been taken to ensure that the advice provided is straightforward and in line with military clinical practice guidelines.

Surgery: An Introductory Guide is an all-in-one reference that provides the vital information needed to get the best learning experience out of an operation, and presents it in a convenient, efficient, and portable format. Each section brings together the key points from several different fields including anatomy, pathophysiology, radiology, surgical technique, and clinical guidelines. The operations covered represent the breadth of general surgery including hernia repair, cholecystectomy, breast surgery, general bowel surgery, and vascular surgery. Each chapter provides informative text, bulleted lists, and common OR questions, combined with classic radiology images, diagrams, and a color illustration of the operative anatomy. This method of using key words, high-yield diagrams, and illustrations enhances the ability to quickly absorb and retain the relevant information. The volume is also organized by operation rather than by pathological topic, which lends itself to quick review before each case.

Abstract
This unique reference fulfills the unmet need of a textbook that addresses the scope of practice for surgeons practicing in rural regions. The text provides up-to-date content covering a wide breadth of topics relevant to surgical care in rural areas, with focus on the surgical diseases that are often treated by surgical subspecialists in the urban setting. Written by experts in each subspecialty, the text focuses on procedural aspects of surgical patient care. The first section discusses practice issues unique to rural surgery and provides an overview of applying principles of quality improvement to surgical practice. Subsequent chapters cover specific surgical procedures. Each chapter includes a brief discussion of indications and contraindications for surgery. The surgical technique is described with attention to important anatomic details. Key portions of the procedure are highlighted including potential complications and how to avoid them. Procedure specific perioperative care is also discussed. Supported with ample illustrations and images, Advanced Surgical Techniques for Rural Surgeons is a valuable resource for surgeons currently in practice or preparing to practice in a rural area, as well as surgical technicians, surgical nurse practitioners, and physician's assistants.

Abstract
Sub-specialization within pediatric orthopedics is growing, in part due to the development of free-standing children's hospitals and the desire by patients and their parents to have "experts" care for them. We are at the forefront of a trend in physicians classifying themselves as pediatric upper extremity surgeons. Numerous pediatric hospitals now have or are recruiting physicians to focus their practice in this area. Historically, these issues were treated by general orthopedic surgeons, adult hand surgeons, pediatric orthopedic surgeons, or plastic surgeons. However, none of these professionals treat the entirety of pediatric upper extremity pathology, and no single reference has focused on the treatment of the pediatric upper extremity as a whole. For example, fractures have typically been written about in pediatric textbooks, while tendon and nerve injuries are covered in adult hand textbooks. This textbook is a comprehensive, illustrated reference that discusses all aspects of the pediatric upper extremity, from embryology and functional development to nerve injuries, trauma, tumors, burns, sports injuries and more.

Abstract
This volume provides a concise and up to date resource that directly addresses the needs of general surgeons who perform vascular surgery by focusing on the diagnosis and clinical management of common vascular conditions. The volume is divided into sections on arterial disease, venous disease, vascular trauma, and vascular access. Chapters on arterial disease outline the management and surgical techniques for the treatment of acute limb ischemia, compartment syndrome, and diabetic foot infections. Chronic arterial disease is addressed in chapters devoted to the management of claudication, critical limb ischemia, and lower extremity amputation. The section on vascular trauma emphasizes surgical intervention for blood vessel injuries that occur in the neck, abdomen, and extremity. Vascular access chapters deal with the technical aspects and potential complications of temporary venous access catheters and permanent arteriovenous access for hemodialysis. More complex vascular topics are also covered with chapters that are shorter in length and focused on the diagnosis and a broad understanding of treatment options. Essentials of Vascular Surgery for the General Surgeon is the first of its kind to accurately mirror the SCORE curriculum for vascular disease as a patient care topic in general surgery training, acting as a "one stop" information source that general surgery trainees can turn to as a clinical reference and as a study guide for general surgery in service exams and board.

Finger Injuries
Thumb - injuries
Abstract
Focusing exclusively on the various categories of injury to the fingertip--the most common orthopedic injury seen in the ER--this book covers anatomy, physiology, mechanisms of injury, treatment options and outcomes, and possible complications stemming from these treatments. Management strategies discussed in this book range from simple splinting to complex microvascular reconstruction, open reduction internal fixation (ORIF), complex nail reconstruction, decompression of high pressure injection injuries, local and regional flap reconstructions, and free tissue transfers for fingertip coverage. Additional topics include the management of fingertip burns (thermal, chemical and electrical, and frostbite) as well as special considerations in pediatric fingertip injuries and rehabilitation strategies. It will be an essential reference for orthopedic and hand surgeons, as well as plastic, trauma and emergency surgeons and their staff at work in the ER.

Abstract
This work demonstrates that hand and wrist rehabilitation calls for precise anatomical, biomechanical, and physiological expertise, as well as mastery of manual techniques and targeted physiotherapy. Particular attention is given to the complementarity between theoretical knowledge and practical aspects; accordingly, refreshers on the underlying theory; descriptions of the rehabilitation protocols and the specific manual and instrumental techniques; and the type of orthesis used depending on the delay of healing are provided for each pathology. This publication will appeal to a broad readership, from physiotherapists and occupational therapists, to surgeons and practitioners specialized in physical rehabilitation, to students in the fields of physiotherapy and occupational therapy.
