Abstract
This pocket manual is designed to guide medical professionals in acquiring skills in basic ultrasound imaging. It describes the most common scans performed at the patient's bedside, specifically in the emergency department or intensive care unit. Following an overview of basic ultrasound principles, the use of this modality to visualize specific organ systems is described. In a quick-reference bulleted format, each chapter details indications, basic techniques (patient position, organ windows/views), probe placement, anatomy, pathology, pearls, and key points in ultrasound imaging. The extensive collection of images helps orient the reader in interpreting the scans, depicts anatomic landmarks, and identifies key pathologic findings for each organ system. Clinical Ultrasound: A Pocket Manual is an accessible guide to performing bedside ultrasound imaging for emergency medicine physicians, primary care physicians, critical care medicine providers, residents, and medical students.

Abstract
The latest information from the CDC demonstrates that 70% of Americans can be classified as having pre-obesity or obesity. This chronic disease is considered the cause of many other chronic diseases such as hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes, and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, to name but a few of the 236 obesity associated disorders. Additionally, obesity is considered to be the cause of fourteen different types of cancers. Based on the number of people affected and the consequences of the disease, it is imperative that it is studied and treated by primary care providers. Few training programs for physicians, NPs or PAs are covering the basics of treating obesity. These fundamentals include pathophysiology, assessment of the disease, and the foundational components of treatment with eating plans, physical activity and behavioral interventions, then the supporting components of anti-obesity medications, devices and surgery. As a result, few of those currently in primary care practice have received any education in the evidence-based treatment of obesity. This book provides the reader with the education to understand the disease, the patient’s experience, and full evidence-based treatment. It also provides the opportunity to understand how to incorporate the treatment into primary care. Written by a leading expert in the field, Treating Obesity in Primary Care offers all clinicians providing primary care services the information needed to effectively treat the chronic disease of obesity.

Abstract
MRI provides the best means of imaging the bone marrow directly and of non-invasively assessing its composition. Normal age-related bone marrow changes, alterations related to red marrow reconversion, and pathological bone marrow processes generally conform to certain patterns that reflect the underlying marrow changes and can be clearly recognized on MR images. In addition to conventional pulse sequences, advanced MRI techniques such as Dynamic Contrast-Enhanced MRI and Diffusion-Weighted Imaging depict marrow changes at the microvascular and cellular level respectively. This book provides radiologists with in-depth information on the MRI appearances of normal, abnormal and treated marrow following a structured, pattern-based approach. MRI findings for various diseases that affect the bone marrow, particularly those of a malignant nature, are presented in detail. MRI pattern recognition not only offers a systematic approach to image interpretation and diagnosis but also has prognostic implications with regard to some disease entities. Each chapter includes a wealth of high-quality images, together with Key Points summarizing the most important information. In addition to radiologists, practitioners with an interest in hematology and oncology will find this textbook-atlas to be a valuable resource for the latest, clinically relevant advances in bone marrow imaging.
Contents
Normal Bone Marrow: Anatomy, Function, Conversion, Reconversion -- MRI of the Normal Bone Marrow: Pulse Sequences -- MRI of the Normal Bone Marrow: Anatomical Sites -- The Abnormal Bone Marrow: MRI Patterns -- MRI of the Abnormal Bone Marrow: Focal Pattern -- MRI of the Abnormal Bone Marrow: Diffuse Pattern -- Bone Marrow Edema Pattern -- Benign Versus Malignant Vertebral Fractures -- MRI of Bone Marrow Post-Treatment Changes -- Bone Marrow MRI: A Quick Guide.

Abstract
Three-dimensional (3D) transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) is a powerful visual tool which the novice or experienced echocardiographer, cardiologist, or cardiac surgeon can use to achieve a better understanding and assessment of normal and pathological cardiac function and anatomy. A complement to traditional 2D imaging, 3D TEE enables visualization of any cardiac structure from multiple perspectives. For the echocardiographer, it demands a different set of skills for image acquisition and manipulation. Real-Time Three-Dimensional Transesophageal Echocardiography is a practical illustrated step-by-step guide to the latest in 3D technology and image acquisition. Each chapter systematically focuses on different cardiac structures with practical tips to image acquisition. Features: Up-to-date; Synoptic presentation of essential "how-to" and relevant clinical information; More than 300 color figures; Practical fundamentals, including altered knobology, and how to acquire and manipulate image datasets; Systematic identification of special diagnostic issues; Normal and abnormal cardiac pathology; Supplemented by the Virtual TEE Perioperative Interactive Education (PIE) website which provides free access to online resources for teaching and learning TEE: http://pie.med.utoronto.ca/TEE.

This book is a practical, user-friendly guide to the clinical diagnosis and treatment of the oral mucosal lesions most frequently encountered in pediatric patients. For each entity, a characteristic clinical photograph is provided, the clinical appearance is concisely described, and guidance is offered on differential diagnosis and treatment options. Oral indications of systemic diseases are addressed in a separate section, and mucosal indicators of drug use, sexual abuse, and eating disorders are also identified. Oral lesions are a relatively common occurrence in the pediatric population. Fortunately, most of these lesions are transient and can be diagnosed clinically; examples include aphthous ulcers, traumatic ulcers, and lesions of infectious etiology such as viral lesions and candidiasis. There are also a number of mucosal lesions, such as mucoceles and viral papillomas, that require biopsy for diagnosis and/or surgical excision for treatment. This book will assist the practitioner in diagnosing and treating both transient and persistent mucosal lesions. .
