Abstract
This open access book offers essential information on values-based practice (VBP): the clinical skills involved, teamwork and person-centered care, links between values and evidence, and the importance of partnerships in shared decision-making. Different cultures have different values; for example, partnership in decision-making looks very different, from the highly individualized perspective of European and North American cultures to the collective and family-oriented perspectives common in South East Asia. In turn, African cultures offer yet another perspective, one that falls between these two extremes (called batho pele). The book will benefit everyone concerned with the practical challenges of delivering mental health services. Accordingly, all contributions are developed on the basis of case vignettes, and cover a range of situations in which values underlie tensions or uncertainties regarding how to proceed in clinical practice. Examples include the patient’s autonomy and best interest, the physician’s commitment to establishing high standards of clinical governance, clinical versus community best interest, institutional versus clinical interests, patients insisting on medically unsound but legal treatments etc. Thus far, VBP publications have mainly dealt with clinical scenarios involving individual values (of clinicians and patients). Our objective with this book is to develop a model of VBP that is culturally much broader in scope. As such, it offers a vital resource for mental health stakeholders in an increasingly inter-connected world. It also offers opportunities for cross-learning in values-based practice between cultures with very different clinical care traditions.

Abstract
This book provides readers with a holistic approach to chronic pelvic pain which is an extremely complex condition with associated pelvic dysfunctions. This approach significantly facilitates and accelerates the clinical assessment and subsequent follow-up. The pathophysiologic mechanisms involving the nervous system, the pelvic organs and the pelvic floor are discussed, deepening the possible implications on mind, sexuality and pelvic dysfunctions. Evaluation and diagnosis are examined for different types of syndromes. Moreover, since the Bladder Pain Syndrome and the Interstitial Cystitis are main causes of pelvic pain, an original diagnostic approach is proposed specifically for these conditions. In order to deliver the best clinical outcomes, this new system provides a multidisciplinary approach, both in the diagnostic phase and in the therapeutic phase The most recent therapies for chronic pelvic pain following a multidisciplinary approach have been described. As such, the book content will greatly benefit all professionals dealing with this debilitating disease, supporting them in their daily clinical practice.

The purpose of this book is to guide the dermatologist and the general physician in the differential diagnosis and treatment of melanonychias. Melanonychia is a longitudinal pigmentation of the nail and it is considering a common presenting problem in general dermatology. The differential diagnosis varies from subungual hematoma to a fungal infection to a melanocytic lesion (hypermelanosis, lentigo, nevus, and melanoma) among others. Melanonychia may also indicate an early stage of nail melanoma, and its diagnosis remains a challenge among dermatologist. A recent publication on dermatologists' accuracy in early diagnosis of melanoma of the nail matrix showed that in situ melanoma of the nail matrix is very difficult for dermatologists to diagnose, regardless of the level of their experience. On Melanonychias the reader will find a complete discussion about all the most important topics on this condition, since its basic aspects (such as nail anatomy and epidemiology) until applied topics (including clinical features, nail biopsy and treatment).

Abstract
This book offers clinical physicians and plastic surgeons a detailed and comprehensive overview of the nonsurgical techniques used for rejuvenation of the lips and eyes. A key aim is to provide practical guidelines for patient selection in order to optimize the choice of treatment in different circumstances. These guidelines will assist in ensuring that the selected rejuvenation technique and the number of applications are appropriate to the specific disorder being treated, thereby maximizing benefits and minimizing side effects. The book explains pretreatment evaluation and describes a wide variety of rejuvenation techniques, including the use of hyaluronic acid fillers, botulinum toxins, skin needling, chemical peels, radiofrequency, ultrasound, and fractional lasers (ablative and nonablative). Contraindications to and complications of the various treatments are clearly identified. A notable feature is the emphasis placed on the role of combined treatments and how they can work in a complementary way to deliver optimal outcomes. The integrated, less invasive approach to periorbital and lip rejuvenation described here by acknowledged experts in the field will enable practitioners to choose with confidence the best aesthetic procedures and innovative tools for their patients.

Abstract
Hair health is a core benefit of products produced for consumers by the cosmetic industry, and more than 70% of women claim to want healthy hair. However, there is very little clarity in the industry as to the meaning of healthy hair in a consumer context and the technical factors that control what the consumer perceives as hair health. Providing updated information on how to prevent and restore hair damage, Healthy Hair characterizes the clinical, physical, and chemical properties of healthy hair. Factors that control a woman's perception of healthy hair are described, and how these factors link to the fundamental biology of the hair fiber are explained, as well as insults to hair, such as brushing, coloring, and UV exposure. The influences of different products on hair health are discussed, and methods used to measure healthy hair at the molecular, single-fiber, and consumer levels are described. Hundreds of high quality color pictures illustrate the most important clinical, dermoscopic, and microscopic characteristics of both healthy and unhealthy hair.

Nail psoriasis is very common and causes considerable morbidity to patients. With the aid of informative illustrations, this book presents the clinical signs suggestive of nail psoriasis and describes the differential diagnosis of nail abnormalities. Newer methods of diagnosis are considered, and advice is provided on the use of severity evaluation indexes. The available treatments are extensively discussed, with information on the latest options. Selection of the appropriate treatment may be a challenge, so guidance is provided on all factors that should be taken into consideration and on choice of treatment for special categories of patient, such as children and pregnant women. Nail Psoriasis will be an invaluable up-to-date source of information for dermatologists and will also be of interest to rheumatologists and general practitioners, given that recognition of nail signs can lead to earlier diagnosis of arthropathic disease.

Abstract
The relationship between oncologists and their cancer patients is rapidly evolving. Oncologists and other cancer professionals master new anticancer and supportive treatment options, while working under increasing economic pressure and time constraints, and are often unprepared to deal with all the challenges of their new position in a therapeutic relationship with cancer patients and families. Good communication is as essential as are modern laboratory tests and sophisticated diagnostics to achieve the best clinical results. This book updates the evolution of truth-telling and communication patterns worldwide and offers insights into the recent trends and emerging challenges in communication with cancer patients and families. New Challenges in Communication with Cancer Patients is an invaluable resource to medical professionals, educators and patients in establishing a strong and effective partnership built on trust and mutual understanding.

Abstract
Chemical peeling is a well-known method used to restore a more youthful appearance and improve dermatologic defects. In recent years the technique has been marked by constant innovation. This book is the first atlas on chemical peels and has been significantly revised and updated since the first edition so as to reflect the state of the art in the field. The various types of chemical peel and peeling techniques, including new combined procedures, are first discussed in a step-by-step manner with the aid of supporting illustrations. Pathogenesis and treatment options are then considered, with each author reporting on his or her personal experience and preferred approach for different diseases and conditions, including acne, rosacea, melasma, photoaging, postinflammatory hyperpigmentation, actinic keratosis, and dark skin. An entirely new section addresses how to deal with side-effects and complications of the different procedures. This atlas has been specifically designed as a reference tool for dermatologists who deal with cosmetology. In particular, by providing clear and practical information on the different peeling procedures and their indications, it will prove invaluable for dermatologists and other doctors who wish to start performing chemical peels.
