Abstract
This unique book is a practical guide for the clinician faced with the challenge of diagnosing and managing neonates, infants and children with congenital hyperinsulinism (HI), within the framework of pathophysiology and molecular genetics. Major advances have been made in HI research over the past two decades, and with this better understanding of the molecular genetics of HI, a “personalized” approach to management according to the type of hyperinsulinism, and particularly according to the likelihood of focal hyperinsulinism, is starting to emerge. The opening chapter discusses HI diagnosis using biochemical approaches and phenotype characterization. The various forms of HI are then presented in detail in three main categories: diazoxide-responsive, diazoxide-unresponsive and syndromic HI. Both medical and surgical management strategies are then discussed, covering imaging, histology, surgical approach, and post-operative management. Complications, such as feeding problems, and long-term outcomes, such as neurodevelopmental issues, are carefully considered in the final chapter. Practical and user-friendly, Congenital Hyperinsulinism is the go-to resource for pediatric endocrinologists, residents and fellows, general pediatricians and neonatologists.

Abstract
Diabetes has become a worldwide health problem, the global estimated prevalence approaches ten percent and the burden of this disease in terms of morbidity and mortality is unprecedented. The advances acquired through the knowledge of the mechanisms of the disease and the variety of therapeutic approaches contrast with the inability of private and public health systems in underdeveloped and even developed countries to achieve the goals of treatment. This paradox has been described in many sources: the surge of scientific advances contrast with an unprecedented amount of human suffering. Thus, a patient centered and an evidence based approach with the capacity to produce measurable clinical and economic outcomes is required. The purpose of this textbook is multiple: to offer a comprehensive resource covering all aspects of outpatient management; to address diabetes as a health problem from an epidemiological, economic and clinical perspective; to discuss the role of social determinants of health on the worldwide increase in diabetes; to highlight the challenges and obstacles in providing adequate care; and to outline a multidisciplinary approach to management in which medical visits retain their importance as part of a team comprising the patient, his or her family and a multidisciplinary group of health professionals who are able to move beyond the traditional approach of diabetes as a disease and greatly improve outcomes.

Abstract
This book presents a detailed and updated review of the widespread changes that take place during adolescence, adopting a preventive perspective that reflects physical, social, cognitive, and emotional changes. It addresses a broad range of aspects, including: the preventive programs and their systemic effects; the role of environment in influencing the healthy behaviors of adolescents and young adults; the use of e-Health technology in health and behavioral interventions for adolescents; and the clinical and prognostic implications of primordial prevention in healthy adolescents. All of these elements are subsequently reviewed using a multidimensional approach, in order to offer extensive information on the complex changes that characterize adolescents’ physiological, psychological, and neurobiological development. In addition, the book depicts the preventive strategies currently used in various social settings (school, family, sport club, health policies) aimed not only at reducing lifestyle risk behaviors, but also at improving resilience, happiness, social involvement, self-esteem, and sociability. This update is essential in the light of the fact that, to date, prevention has mainly been directed towards adolescents with physical or mental disorders rather than their healthy peers. Abstract
This second edition of Freemark's text embodies all of the strengths of the original work but is deeper and broader in scope, with new chapters on emerging themes including metabolomics, genomics, and the roles of gastrointestinal hormones, the microbiome, brown adipose tissue, and endocrine disruptors in the pathogenesis of childhood obesity. Reviews of the effects of weight excess on cognitive performance and immune function complement detailed analyses of the biochemical and molecular pathways controlling the development of childhood adiposity and metabolic disease. Critical assessments of nutritional interventions (including new chapters on infant feeding practices and vegetarian diets) and superb reviews of behavioral counseling, pharmacotherapy, and bariatric surgery provide practical guidance for the management of overweight children. Penetrating analyses of the obesity epidemic in its social, cultural, economic, and political contexts highlight challenges and opportunities for obesity prevention and community action. The perspective is international in scope and reflects the expertise and experience of many of the leading figures in the field. Comprehensive and up-to-date, this new edition of Pediatric Obesity: Etiology, Pathogenesis and Treatment will be an invaluable guide for all healthcare providers and policy makers concerned with the evaluation and care of children with nutritional and metabolic disease and with the societal implications of the obesity epidemic.

Abstract
This book provides a single, comprehensive reference source that incorporates all the latest information regarding prostate cancer. It serves as an easy reference source for researchers, clinicians, individuals in training, allied health professionals and medical students regarding prostate cancer by focusing on the controversial points of debate. New data regarding PSA screening, prostate cancer biomarkers, diagnostic evaluation techniques, surveillance protocols, and treatment interventions for localized and more advanced disease are discussed, and gaps in current knowledge and areas for future research are highlighted. Ongoing important clinical trials are also discussed. This text is organized around defined clinical scenarios which are encountered routinely by physicians who care for patients with prostate cancer. The case based format permits presentation of information of concise practical significance. The chapters run the gamut from screening controversies, utility of biomarkers, surveillance strategies, and innovative treatment. The text incorporates key educational concepts in the framework of patient situations with evidence-based discussions of screening, diagnosis, evaluation, and therapeutic management. It also features a comment section from leaders in the field that will be more "opinion-based" allowing the reader to get access to experienced physicians' thought processes and practice patterns. Prostate Cancer: Clinical Case Scenarios will quickly become the ready reference source for professionals and students in various fields with an interest in the management of a complex and multifaceted disease such as prostate cancer.

Abstract
This book highlights the increase in thyroid tumors and NET and demonstrates the growing importance of circulating markers in diagnosis as well as treatment and follow-up. Dramatic technical improvements have heightened the clinical impact of well-established, conventional biochemical markers. In addition, more recent genetic and molecular approaches have provided innovative molecular markers. In this context, effective communication between clinicians and laboratory physicians/scientists is essential in allowing all those involved to fully profit from these exciting advances. In this comprehensive, up-to-date book, authors from different laboratory and clinical areas link laboratory and clinical topics. Analytical problems such as interferences, false-negative and false-positive results are discussed in depth, and flow-charts offer insights into identifying and avoiding them. Illustrated clinical cases detail the clinical role and limitations of different tumor markers. Lastly, it explores health technology assessment and economic issues. Abstract
Dr. Harold Chen shares his almost 50 years of clinical genetics practice in this new edition of a comprehensive pictorial atlas, featuring almost 290 genetic disorders, malformations, and malformation syndromes. The author provides a detailed outline for each disorder, describing its genetics, basic defects, clinical features, diagnostic tests, and counseling issues, including recurrence risk, prenatal diagnosis, and management. Numerous color photographs of prenatal ultrasounds, imagings, cytogenetics, and postmortem findings illustrate the clinical features of patients at different ages, patients with varying degrees of severity, and the optimal diagnostic strategies. The disorders cited are supplemented by case histories and diagnostic confirmation by cytogenetics, biochemical, and molecular techniques, when available. Since the publication of the previous edition in 2012, the atlas has been widely accepted and used in light of rapid progress in genetic and gnomic information. In this new edition, additional genetic disorders are added, as well as extensive updates to the previous disorders with new illustrations, supplemented by case and family history, clinical features, and laboratory data, especially molecular confirmation if available. The atlas is written in outline format for ease of use. Atlas of Genetic Diagnosis and Counseling, Third Edition is of great value to medical geneticists, genetic counselors, pediatricians, neonatologists, developmental pediatricians, perinatologists, obstetricians, neurologists, pathologists, and any physicians and health care professionals caring for handicapped children such as craniofacial surgeons, plastic surgeons, otolaryngologists, and orthopedists. It is the definitive volume for helping all physicians to understand and recognize genetic diseases and malformation syndrom es and better evaluate, counsel, and manage affected patients.

Abstract
This book sheds new light on clinical, biological and therapeutic data on the rare disease Waldenström’s Macroglobulinemia (WM) with the participation of widely-recognized experts, involved in this field. It represents the efforts of physicians, scientists and patients, all around the world, to better understand and cure this rare disease. Considerable advances in the diagnosis, treatment indications, response criteria, prognostic factors and treatment options have been made since Dr Jan Waldenström first reported this "new syndrome" 70 years ago. Particularly instrumental in advancing of our understanding of WM have been the eight international workshops devoted to this disease. New, exciting molecular data have recently been reported, allowing us to revisit the oncogenic events leading to WM B-cell proliferation and to use newly available compounds targeting oncogenic pathways.
