- This open access book marks the first historical overview of the autism rights branch of the neurodiversity movement, describing the activities and rationales of key leaders in their own words since it organized into a unique community in 1992. Sandwiched by editorial chapters that include critical analysis, the book contains 19 chapters by 21 authors about the forming of the autistic community and neurodiversity movement, progress in their influence on the broader autism community and field, and their possible threshold of the advocacy establishment. The actions covered are legendary in the autistic community, including manifestos such as “Don’t Mourn for Us”, mailing lists, websites or webpages, conferences, issue campaigns, academic project and journal, a book, and advisory roles. These actions have shifted the landscape toward viewing autism in social terms of human rights and identity to accept, rather than as a medical collection of deficits and symptoms to cure.

- In 2011, the General Surgical Oncology Fellowship Program at the University of Toronto sought to develop a practical approach to common oncology problems faced by general surgeons in a collaboration between current and previous fellows, as well as staff at the University of Toronto, including experts from Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Odette Cancer Centre (at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre), Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto General Hospital, St. Michael's Hospital, and St. Joseph's Hospital. This effort culminated in the publication of the Surgical Oncology Manual in March, 2012. The first edition received excellent feedback on its utility from both trainees and practicing surgeons alike. With the ever-changing landscape of surgical oncology, this edition is updated with new evidence and topics in the field, providing a succinct review of surgical oncology with a summary of key evidence in the work-up, treatment, and follow-up for each cancer site as well as a section of "Pearls", derived from the wide breadth of experience, skills, and abilities of the contributors. The rest of the book is devoted to the specific use of corticosteroids in the different pediatric subspecialties. Despite advances with newer effective immunosuppressive and anti-inflammatory drugs, corticosteroids still remain the mainstay of therapy for many disorders. Rolando Cimaz is Head of the Pediatric Rheumatology Unit at Meyer Children's Hopital in Florence, Italy, and is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Florence, Italy. He graduated from Milan University in Italy in 1987, is a specialist in Pediatrics (1991) and in Rheumatology (2003), and did his Fellowship in Pediatric Rheumatology in Dallas, Texas, USA, in 1993-1994. He was Maitre de Conférences des Universités at Université Claude Bernard-Lyon in Lyon, France from 2005 to 2007. His main interest is pediatric rheumatology, and he has special expertise and scientific interest in osteoporosis, antiphospholipid antibodies, Kawasaki disease, synovial T cells, and neonatal lupus. Currently he is involved in many research projects, nationally and internationally. He has been on the Council of the Pediatric Rheumatology European Society from 1999 to 2005 (treasurer), and from 2014-present (Research Chair). He is a member of the American College of Rheumatology, the Italian Society of Pediatrics, and the French Society of Pediatric Inflammatory Diseases. He is co-author of more than 230 peer-reviewed articles on PubMed, as well as more than 20 book chapters, all in the field of pediatric rheumatology. He is, or has been, on the Editorial board of several international journals (Pediatric Rheumatology Online Journal, Lupus, Arthritis and Rheumatism) and co-edited the book "Systemic Autoimmune Diseases in Pediatrics.".

- Medicine raises numerous philosophical issues. Most discussed have been debates in bioethics. Yet contemporary medicine is also a rich source of controversies and examples that raise important issues in philosophy of science, philosophy of biology, and metaphysics. This volume approaches the philosophy of medicine from the broad naturalist perspective that holds that philosophy must be continuous with, constrained by, and relevant to empirical results of the natural and social sciences and that believes that the history, sociology, politics, and ethics of science provide relevant information for philosophical analysis. One traditional topic covered by several of the contributions is the nature of disease, but the approach is largely from the philosophy of science rather than traditional linguistic analysis. The complex interplay of epistemological and sociological factors in producing evidence in medicine is discussed by chapters on collective medical discussion making, experimental medicine, "genetic" diseases, mental illness, and race and gender categories. The upshot is a volume that ties medicine to contemporary issues in philosophy of science and metaphysics like no other. "An excellent collection of essays in the philosophy of medicine. Whereas most philosophical work about medicine has been concerned with medical ethics, this volume focuses more on key questions in epistemology and metaphysics, although many of these are also relevant to ethical issues.
