Abstract
This clinical guide, featuring a wealth of high-quality photographs, will help pediatric dentists, pediatric dentistry residents and general dental practitioners treating children, acquire a clear understanding of contemporary treatment protocols for primary and young permanent teeth while serving as a guide to integrate these procedures into their private or institutional practice. The background to the book is the emergence in recent years of important paradigm shifts in treatment concepts. It is now recognized that clinicians must distinguish between “caries management” and “carious lesion management” when treating children. Moreover, regenerative endodontic procedures have changed the way in which the immature permanent tooth is treated. The authors present the full range of current treatment techniques step-by-step, with all the necessary detailed photographic documentation and succinct supporting text. It will be an asset for dentists worldwide. .
Contents
1. Lesion Management: No Removal of Carious Tissue -- 2. Lesion Management: Selective Removal of Carious Tissue in Shallow, Moderately Deep and Deep Carious Lesions -- 3. Pulp Therapy in Primary Teeth -- 4. The Posterior Preformed Metal Crown (Stainless Steel Crown) -- 5. Aesthetic Full Coronal Coverage Restorations -- 6. Space Maintenance in the Primary Dentition: Custom Made and Prefabricated -- 7. Resin and Glass Ionomer Based Pit and Fissure Sealants -- 8. Strategies for Pulp Therapy in Immature Permanent Teeth.

Abstract
This atlas, featuring numerous superb illustrations and vivid photographs, aims to create a bridge between research and practice in the field of periodontal plastic surgery and cosmetic dentistry with a view to enabling optimal decision making in daily practice. After an opening overview of evidence-based decision making and discussion of treatment planning, subsequent chapters address the surgical treatment of recession-type defects, use of soft tissue substitutes, aesthetic clinical crown lengthening, and peri-implant plastic surgery. Illustrated case studies depict application of the described surgical procedures in daily practice, and advice is provided on clinical indications and contraindications and basics of the surgical sequence. In addition, critical summaries of the results of systematic reviews are provided. Further chapters consider aspects of multidisciplinary decision-making and present decision trees for soft tissue augmentation procedures proposed by the American Academy of Periodontology. The atlas will be a valuable clinical guide for general dentists and specialists in periodontology/periodontics and implantology.
Contents
1. Evidence-Based Decision-Making: An Overview -- 2. Periodontal Anatomy and Its Role on the Treatment Planning of Aesthetic Areas -- 3. Rationale for the Surgical Treatment of Single and Multiple Recession-Type Defects -- 4. Complications, Adverse Effects, and Patient-Centered Outcomes of Soft Tissue Augmentation Procedures and the Use of Gingival Soft Tissue Substitutes -- 5. Esthetical Clinical Crown Lengthening, Lip Repositioning, and Gingival Depigmentation -- 6. Peri-implant Plastic Surgery -- 7. Abstract
In this book the author explores the shifting philosophical boundaries of modern medical knowledge and practice occasioned by the crisis of quality-of-care, especially in terms of the various humanistic adjustments to the biomedical model. To that end he examines the metaphysical, epistemological, and ethical boundaries of these medical models. He begins with their metaphysics, analyzing the metaphysical positions and presuppositions and ontological commitments upon which medical knowledge and practice is founded. Next, he considers the epistemological issues that face these medical models, particularly those driven by methodological procedures undertaken by epistemic agents to constitute medical knowledge and practice. Finally, he examines the axiological boundaries and the ethical implications of each model, especially in terms of the physician-patient relationship. In a concluding Epilogue, he discusses how the philosophical analysis of the humanization of modern medicine helps to address the crisis-of-care, as well as the question of "What is medicine?" The book's unique features include a comprehensive coverage of the various topics in the philosophy of medicine that have emerged over the past several decades and a philosophical context for embedding bioethical discussions. The book's target audiences include both undergraduate and graduate students, as well as healthcare professionals and professional philosophers. This book is the 99th issue of the Series "Philosophy and Medicine" and it can be considered a crown of thirty years of intensive and dynamic discussion in the field. We are completely convinced that after its publication, it can be finally said that undoubtedly the philosophy of medicine exists as a special field of inquiry.

Abstract
This book, written by acknowledged experts with international reputations, provides clinicians with detailed guidelines on the nature of the ideal anterior dental implant and, more importantly, how the desired aesthetic outcome is to be achieved. It reflects the incredible paradigm shift that has taken place within implant dentistry during the past 5 years, with recognition of the importance of a "crown down" approach to diagnosis, planning, and treatment, especially in the anterior zone. In order to ensure reproducibility and predictability of treatment outcomes, the fabrication of an aesthetic dental implant must follow a complex algorithm, which is reviewed in a stepwise approach. Sections are devoted to evaluation of the aesthetic implant patient, immediate implant placement, staged implant placement, and restoration. Readers will come to appreciate how the final emergence profile of the definitive restoration reflects the complex interplay of components below the visible smile zone. Helpful flow charts are included that will assist in optimal performance of the described procedures.
