This pamphlet explains the challenges you may experience when your baby cries. Ways to comfort your baby are provided. As you get to know your baby's behaviours, you will understand your baby's cries and how they prefer to be soothed. Remember: Never shake a baby! Babies have weak necks and heavy heads. Even a few seconds of shaking can cause serious injury like blindness, not being able to walk, brain damage, or death.
A Patient Care Needs Assessment (PCNA) helps us find out the health needs of all East Coast Forensic Hospital rehabilitation (rehab) patients. A PCNA considers many things (such as your physiology, psychology, social support, behaviour, and development) that may affect your health and recovery. A PCNA makes sure that the services you may need for your rehabilitation and recovery are available to you. Information about how the assessment will help and how you will be involved is provided.
This pamphlet explains the challenges you may experience 24 hours (1 day) after your baby is born. Ways to comfort your baby are provided. As you get to know your baby's behaviours, you will begin to see that they are most comforted by snuggling up to you at your breast/chest. The French version of this pamphlet 1965, "Deuxième nuit du bébé", is also available.
