Abstract
This book reviews the promising new electrocardiographic (ECG) predictors of cardiac morbidity and mortality with the primary objective being to evaluate gender differences in special ECG features and in ECG predictors for the risk of adverse cardiac events and to explore mechanisms for gender differences in risk predictors. The Female Electrocardiogram elucidates the emergence of gender differences in ECG features and evaluates repolarization-related ECG predictors of various clinical disease categories with a special scope to interpret the mechanism and gender differences of the findings. The author examines how the predictors of adverse cardiac events are linked to basic electrophysiological finding whenever adequate information is available in this rapidly advances realm of research. The overall goal of the book is to facilitate understanding of the mechanisms and clinical relevance of repolarization abnormalities in both clinical and epidemiological applications, and as such will be of great interest to all who manage patients using ECG whether they be cardiac electrophysiologists, clinical cardiologists, critical care physicians or any medical professional in the disciplines covered.

Abstract
This book is a practical guide for psychiatrists to use when treating patients for medical issues. Over the past 10-20 years, the number of medications prescribed for psychiatric illnesses has steadily increased, and psychiatric practitioners are frequently called upon to manage medical issues and side effects that result from psychotropic treatment. Covering a wide range of conditions from thyroid disorders to cardiac disease, this book is a helpful resource for understanding common adverse medical effects that occur when psychotropic drugs are administered. Presented in a practical format, each chapter discusses management of a particular medical problem or side effect and then provides a summary and flowchart of the major points highlighted in that chapter. Each chapter contains an overview of key medications causing a particular side effect. The book also includes special topics such as psychotropic prescribing in medical illness and tips on electrocardiographic interpretation. This easy-to-reference book aims to bridge the gap between medicine and psychiatry by elaborating on medical conditions seen in routine outpatient psychiatric practice. It serves as an invaluable tool for mental health providers, nurses, health educators, and pharmacologists alike.

Abstract
Major technological, basic and clinical research breakthroughs have led to impressive changes in both diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities for the management of cardiac rhythm disorders. Diagnosis has been enriched by sophisticated electrocardiographic recording systems and automatic analysis techniques, by the development of 3D electro-anatomical mapping systems, advances in novel implantable devices, capable of recording electrical signals, as well as intracardiac and intravascular pressures. During this time, the most striking progress in the therapeutic arena has been in catheter-based ablation of different rhythm disorders, and rapid progress in the device therapy. Consequently, the role of the electrophysiologist in the field of cardiology has significantly expanded and the role of cardiac imaging has become a crucial and integral part of diagnostic and therapeutic electrophysiological procedures. Cardiac Imaging in Electrophysiology reviews the role of imaging in the diagnosis and management of patients with cardiac rhythm disorders. The Editors and their carefully chosen panel of contributors highlight the various cardiac imaging modalities now available to guide the electrophysiologist, from first encounter with the patient through post-procedural care. These modalities have come to play an important role in appropriately selecting patients, guiding therapy, thereby reducing complications, and enabling us to closely monitor the effects of device therapy or catheter ablation procedures, and consequently this book will be of huge value to physicians and trainees in both electrophysiology and cardiac imaging to provide continuity of care for this often challenging group of patients.

Abstract
This book delineates the state of the art for the diagnosis and treatment of J wave syndromes and covers basic science, translational and clinical aspects of these syndromes. The J wave syndromes, consisting of Brugada and Early Repolarization Syndromes, have high visibility in cardiovascular medicine. Although experimental evidence for a heightened risk for sudden cardiac death associated with early repolarization was reported at the turn of the century, the clinical impact has not fully appreciated until very recently. Written by leading experts in their respective fields who have contributed prominently to the literature concerning these topics, J Wave Syndromes: Brugada and Early Repolarization Syndromes resolves existing confusion in the clinical community that has led to inappropriate, ineffective, and frequently over-aggressive treatment. The authors also take time to discuss where future research needs to be directed.

Abstract
This book presents the latest findings on early repolarization syndrome (ERS). Readers will find essential information on ERS with regard to its etiology, epidemiology, clinical diagnosis and manifestation, genetic background, and risk stratification, as well as the relationship between ERS and Brugada syndrome. Further chapters discuss pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies. Early repolarization (ER) pattern or J wave in the inferior and /or lateral leads was initially considered to be a benign electrocardiographic pattern and is often found in healthy young individuals. However, it was reported that ER or J wave was more frequently recognized in patients with idiopathic ventricular fibrillation (IVF) than in control subjects, and that there is a higher incidence of recurrent VF in case subjects with ER or J wave than in those without. This is the early repolarization syndrome or ERS, the theme of this contributed volume. ERS is diagnosed in patients with ER pattern or J wave in the inferior and /or lateral leads of the standard 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG), who have been resuscitated from IVF. ERS is a relatively a new clinical entity in the field. This much-awaited contributed volume is one of the first references available in the market, an ideal resource for all cardiologists and electrophysiologists working on ERS and related topics.

Abstract
The past two decades have witnessed an explosion of knowledge and radical changes in our understanding of the molecular, ionic, genetic, and pharmacologic basis of electrical diseases of the heart. Electrical diseases of the heart are heritable arrhythmogenic clinical entities that may share common clinical and genetic features, yet may be distinctly different in their genesis, prognosis, and management. Notably, both congenital and acquired electrical diseases of the heart are receiving increased recognition as a result of important advances in genetic analysis. In this second edition of Electrical Diseases of the Heart, the Editors' goal has been to embrace and highlight the explosion of knowledge that our field has witnessed since the publication of the first edition. The approach continues to be one of bridging basic and clinical science in an attempt to advance meaningfully our understanding of heart disease and identify the knowledge gaps that exist. This volume covers the basic foundations and primary electrical diseases and with the companion volume provides the latest developments in the field of experimental and clinical cardiac electrophysiology, genetics, pharmacology and interventional therapies of various clinical arrhythmogenic entities. Residents, fellows and physicians in cardiology and electrophysiology will gain valuable insight into the latest developments in the field of cardiac electrophysiology and clinical electrocardiology by reading this book, including expert review of the genetic and epidemiologic considerations, diagnostic and therapeutic modalities of the newly discovered clinical syndromes and electrocardiographic phenomena, and their correlation with the most recent advances in the basic science.
