Abstract
This book presents up-to-date information on how to assess early preclinical alterations in the heart, the small and large arteries and the kidney in the general and the hypertensive population, using the most sensitive, specific and cost-effective techniques. A wide variety of techniques are discussed, with careful attention to the latest developments. For each organ, evidence is documented regarding the prevalence of organ damage. Information is provided on the potential induction of regression of organ damage by treatment, the criteria for establishing significant changes and the clinical prognostic significance of regression. The manual will be invaluable for all practitioners responsible for the clinical management of hypertensive patients, given that the assessment of early preclinical cardiovascular and renal damage permits more accurate risk stratification at baseline and facilitates evaluation of cardiovascular protection when regression of structural changes is achieved during treatment.

Abstract
This superbly illustrated atlas of breast tomosynthesis covers all aspects and applications of the technology, which reduces tissue overlap and facilitates the recognition of small cancers. After clear explanation of basic principles of the technique, individual chapters address diagnostic criteria, indications, and use of breast tomosynthesis as a screening tool. The findings obtained in the full range of benign and malignant conditions, including postoperative changes, are then presented with the aid of a wealth of high-quality illustrations from case examples. Detailed attention is paid to the BI-RADS classification, bearing in mind the ability of tomosynthesis to reduce categorizations as BI-RADS 3 and 0, thereby decreasing the recall rate. The book concludes by examining tomosynthesis-guided interventions such as vacuum-assisted breast biopsy and galactography.
Contents
1. Introduction to Tomosynthesis -- 2. 2BI-RADS Reporting for Breast Tomosynthesis (3D-Mammography) -- 3. Indications for Three-dimensional (3D)/Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT) -- 4. Synthetic 2D Mammography with 3D Tomosynthesis as Screening Tool: Early Detection and Reduced Recall -- 5. Benign Changes (Cysts, Fibroadenomas, Papillomas, Infection…): BI-RADS -- 6. Malignant Changes -- 7. Postoperative Changes -- 8. Tomosynthesis-Guided Interventions.

Abstract
This updated edition provides clinicians from various backgrounds and levels of training the information needed to optimally diagnose and manage neurologic complications of the nervous system. Organized into seven sections, this comprehensive volume begins with an overview of diagnostic studies for neurologic complications involving the nervous system. That is followed by sections on metastatic and non-metastatic complications of cancer involving the nervous system, and the interpretation, diagnosis, and management of common neuro-oncologic symptoms. The next section reviews the neurologic complications of cancer therapy, including corticosteroids, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, targeted molecular therapies, immunotherapies, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, and infections involving the nervous system. The final section focuses on the most important neurologic complications in cancers arising from specific organs. In addition to capturing the latest advancements in the rapidly evolving fields of oncology and cancer neurology, the goal of this resource is to lead clinicians toward prompt diagnosis and intervention in order to improve patient quality of life. "This textbook is a valuable resource for medical oncologists and radiation oncologists, as well as neurologists and neuro-oncologists dealing with these patients. Overall, the chapters are well organized, clearly written, fairly balanced, and reasonably up to date. I would recommend it as a learning tool to physicians in training (medical students, residents, and fellows) and for more experienced physicians as both a review/ update and a way to gain more in-depth knowledge and insight into the neurologic problems of cancer patients." (John C. Flickinger, International Journal of Radiation Oncology Biology Physics, Vol. 73 (2), 2009) "The general organization of the book is logical and facilitates its practical and everyday use. Overall this textbook is very comprehensive and encompasses main neuro-oncological challenges. Schiff, Kesari and Wen have edited a very elegant and highly practical textbook, written by recognized authorities in their respective fields, which will be used by a wide range of medical and surgical specialists who are confronted on a daily basis with neurological manifestations of cancer in their practice." (I. Radovanovic and G. Zadeh, British Journal of Cancer, Vol. 100 (6), 2009).

Abstract
This book focuses on the latest progress in chemotherapy for leukemia and related diseases, including still-ongoing but promising studies. The effectiveness of treatment for chronic myeloid leukemia and acute promyelocytic leukemia has been dramatically improved in recent years. This improvement has been made possible with the development of molecular targeted agents such as bcr-abl tyrosine kinase inhibitors and all-trans retinoic acid. The antibody for the unique target of chemokine receptor 4 for adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma, or FLT3 inhibitors (signaling inhibitors) has been applied to other leukemias. Also, chemotherapeutic agents including antimetabolite analogues such as clofarabine, and azacitidine (an epigenetic regulator) have undergone progressive development. Meanwhile, the novel concept of therapy targeting leukemic stem cells has been developed. The contributors discuss prospective results of basic and preclinical studies and clinical possibilities based on the effects for leukemic stem cells. This work facilitates a comprehensive understanding of modern treatment methodology for leukemia. The volume therefore will greatly benefit not only hematologists but also oncologists, all physicians who specialize in blood cancer, and pharmacologists who are involved in the development of therapeutic agents for leukemia.

Abstract
This book provides readers with a holistic approach to chronic pelvic pain which is an extremely complex condition with associated pelvic dysfunctions. This approach significantly facilitates and accelerates the clinical assessment and subsequent follow-up. The pathophysiologic mechanisms involving the nervous system, the pelvic organs and the pelvic floor are discussed, deepening the possible implications on mind, sexuality and pelvic dysfunctions. Evaluation and diagnosis are examined for different types of syndromes. Moreover, since the Bladder Pain Syndrome and the Interstitial Cystitis are main causes of pelvic pain, an original diagnostic approach is proposed specifically for these conditions. In order to deliver the best clinical outcomes, this new system provides a multidisciplinary approach, both in the diagnostic phase and in the therapeutic phase The most recent therapies for chronic pelvic pain following a multidisciplinary approach have been described. As such, the book content will greatly benefit all professionals dealing with this debilitating disease, supporting them in their daily clinical practice.

This book aims to provide condensed and crystallised knowledge, providing the rationale for investigations and interventions. Emergency medicine is a specialty where time and knowledge are critical factors in deciding appropriate management which could otherwise result in loss of life or limb. The challenge often is to have lucid management plans, whilst standing at the bedside of the patient. In order to address this challenge, a manuscript is needed which aims to enhance the clinical skills of the emergency physician. The objective of this book is to compile a road map for practitioners of emergency medicine, which would guide them through algorithm-based pathways. This format is distinctive by nature for its concise presentation, which facilitates easy reading and early application. Written by global experts, this book aims to be a truly international representation of emergency physicians who have come together to deliver contemporary concepts in emergency patient care.

Abstract
Analysis of blood gas can be a daunting task. However, it is still one of the most useful laboratory tests in managing respiratory and metabolic disorders. Busy medical students have struggled ineffectively with Hasselbach's modification of the Henderson equation, been torn between the Copenhagen and the Boston schools of thought; and lately, been confronted with the radically different strong-ion approach. In modern medical practice, the health provider's time is precious: it is crucial to retain focus on those aspects of clinical medicine that are of key importance. Adoption of an algorithm-based approach in the study of topics that are hard to understand (particularly those that are rooted in clinical physiology) can be extremely advantageous. Handbook of Blood Gas/Acid-Base Interpretation, 2nd edition, is organized in a logical sequence of flow charts that introduce concepts and gradually build upon them. This approach facilitates understanding and retention of the subject matter. Medical students, residents, nurses, and practitioners of respiratory and intensive care will find it possible to quickly grasp the principles underlying respiratory and acid-base physiology, and apply them effectively in clinical decision making.

Abstract
This handbook provides the latest research related to quality of life and sustainability, taking into account social, economic, environmental, and political/governance aspects as well as specific socio-spatial contexts. The volume includes contributions from established and upcoming scholars from various disciplines and geographical contexts (Global South and North). The varying cultural and socio-spatial contexts of the authors in the selected cases contribute to first-hand knowledge on the realities of sustainability issues affecting the quality of life. The authors apply a wide diversity of methods and tools, which facilitates a unique understanding of the interlinkages between quality of life and sustainability. The chapters are grouped in three main sections: concepts and foundations; tools, techniques, and applications; and innovations. The authors provide their own view and theoretical approximation of the dimensions of sustainability, in particular on how these dimensions play out in relation to quality of life. The combination of sustainability and quality of life concepts and perspectives is particularly important in unravelling the multi-faceted nature of human, urban, rural/spatial development.
