Abstract
The demographic imperative has reached the shores of dermatology. By 2020 those aged 65 years and older will comprise a quarter of the US population, and this percentage will be even more significant in less developed countries. As a specialty, dermatology needs to respond to this unprecedented demographic shift. Over the last few decades dermatology has enjoyed a sustained improvement in understanding of the basic science of skin biology and an increase in proven effectiveness of clinical interventions. As dermatologists, leadership must be in place to provide specialized care for older adults; dermatology should be at the forefront of prevention and treatment of skin diseases and be able to recognize the dermatologic signs of chronic systemic disease so often noted in our elderly. Clinical Cases in Geriatric Dermatology represents a practical tool in understanding the skin of older people and includes chapters on the common presentations of dermatologic disease in the elderly population. It presents practical information to assist in making the correct clinical decision. The concise case-based organization of this book will help those in dermatology training programs, but will also be a welcome revision tool for qualified and recertifying dermatologists.

Abstract
Traditionally, neuroscience and public health have been considered strange bedfellows. Now a new collection of studies shows the two fields as logical collaborators with major potential for the evolution of both fields. Social Neuroscience and Public Health assembles current theoretical viewpoints, research findings in familiar and emerging areas, and updates on assessment methods to give readers a unique in-depth guide to the social brain and its central role in health promotion. This stimulating reference spans the intersection of two disciplines, offering new insights into the mechanics of risks, rewards, and willpower, revisiting the developmental effects of adversity and the impact of exercise on brain health, and applying epidemiology to cognitive science. Accessibly written for researchers and professionals within and outside both fields, the chapters include bullet-point and policy implication features for ease of retention. The book's innovative ideas lend themselves to a variety of applications, from fine-tuning disease prevention strategies to deeper understanding of addictions. Included in the coverage: Latest theoretical perspectives on health behavior (e.g., picoeconomics, MCII, and temporal self-regulation theory) Updates on health communications and their effects on the brain. New research on cognitive resources and health behavior execution. Leading-edge studies on the brain, the social world, and stress. Findings from the forefront of exercise neuroscience. A concise introduction to neuroscience methods for the non-technical reader. A rich resource pointing to a promising future in research and prevention efforts, Social Neuroscience and Public Health benefits professionals and researchers in public health, medicine, cognitive neuroscience, health psychology, epidemiology, sociology and affiliated fields. "This bridge-builder of a book comes exactly at the right time. With the field of public health rapidly expanding, public health professionals, neuroscientists, social psychologists, and policymakers alike will profit from this immensely integrative achievement. Social Neuroscience and Public Health connects two fast-developing fields that can learn and profit immensely from each other." -- Wilhelm Hofmann, PhD, University of Chicago, Booth School of Business. "In this book you will find a number of intriguing possibilities for changing behaviour that arise out of a scientific base hitherto little known beyond the field. Bringing this together has immense potential not just for strengthening public health but also for strengthening behavioral and neuro-sciences." -- Theresa Marteau, PhD, Institute of Public Health, Unviersity of Cambridge.

Abstract
Sub-specialization within pediatric orthopedics is growing, in part due to the development of free-standing children's hospitals and the desire by patients and their parents to have "experts" care for them. We are at the forefront of a trend in physicians classifying themselves as pediatric upper extremity surgeons. Numerous pediatric hospitals now have or are recruiting physicians to focus their practice in this area. Historically, these issues were treated by general orthopedic surgeons, adult hand surgeons, pediatric orthopedic surgeons, or plastic surgeons. However, none of these professionals treat the entirety of pediatric upper extremity pathology, and no single reference has focused on the treatment of the pediatric upper extremity as a whole. For example, fractures have typically been written about in pediatric textbooks, while tendon and nerve injuries are covered in adult hand textbooks. This textbook is a comprehensive, illustrated reference that discusses all aspects of the pediatric upper extremity, from embryology and functional development to nerve injuries, trauma, tumors, burns, sports injuries and more.

Abstract
In recent decades, cytopathology has assumed an increasing role in the primary diagnosis of mass lesions owing to its ability to provide rapid, non-invasive, and timely information. With cytopathology at the forefront of diagnosis and prognostication of neoplastic lesions, it is essential that physicians involved in the diagnosis and treatment of precancerous lesions and cancer have a clear understanding of specimen collection techniques, terminology for reporting, and outcomes in various diagnostic categories. This book provides a comprehensive overview of the role of cytology at various body sites. The diagnostic details covered are abbreviated in comparison with those in pathology texts. Instead, a more clinical approach is taken, with the focus on the advantages and limitations of techniques and the key features of entities that are important to clinicians. Pathological clinical correlation is highlighted throughout the book, ensuring that it will be highly relevant for clinicians. In particular, physicians who deal with oncology patients will find it to be a rich source of guidance on how to use and understand cytopathology in the diagnosis and exclusion of malignancy.

Abstract
Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) has played an instrumental role among the many advances in the field of congenital heart disease (CHD) that have resulted in successful and continually improving clinical outcomes, today enabling most affected infants and children to live well into adulthood. Ongoing evolution of the technology (including three-dimensional TEE) promises to maintain this imaging approach at the forefront of clinical practice. Competent performance of TEE in the patient with CHD, however, requires a number of essential technical and cognitive skills, in addition to a solid understanding of the broad spectrum of congenital pathology. Thus, the important need for a comprehensive reference on the subject to assist specialists who care for these patients. Transesophageal Echocardiography for Congenital Heart Disease represents a unique work, the only textbook of its kind that focuses specifically upon the applications of TEE in CHD. In each chapter, the contributorshighly regarded specialists and leaders in the fieldprovide practical and instructive information on the many different aspects of CHD evaluation by TEE. The textbook is extensively supplemented with over 700 figures/illustrations and more than 400 high quality videos (available online).

Abstract
The research described in this book represents important steps toward understanding the development of inner ear medicine and new perspectives in regenerative medicine, including efficacy in cochlear implants and various other treatments. The book depicts the mechanisms that underlie inner ear diseases, their experimental models, and proposals for new strategies to treat their symptoms. As well, the exciting future prospects for dealing with the very common problem of inner ear diseases are explained. These disorders occur among many people and include sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL), sudden deafness, senile deafness, noise-induced deafness, tinnitus, dizziness-vertigo, and Ménière's disease. In Japan alone, there are more than 6 million deaf patients including those with middle-range deafness. There is currently no effective treatment, and regardless of the underlying cause, the damage has been considered irreversible. However, the results of recent research show that these patients actually can recover. The study of hair cells, spiral ganglion neurons, and stem cells for inner ear diseases such as SNHL, tinnitus, dizziness, and vertigo is at the forefront of regenerative medicine and may provide solutions to some of these problems.

Abstract
This book presents and analyses the most recent research dedicated to restoring vision in individuals who are severely impaired or blind from retinal disease or injury. It is written by the leading groups worldwide who are at the forefront of developing artificial vision. The book begins by discussing the difficulties in comparing and interpreting functional results in the area of very low vision and the principal prospects and limitations of spatial resolution with artificial tools. Further on, chapters are included by researchers who stimulate the surface or the pigment epithelial side of the retina and by experts who work on stimulating the optic nerve, the lateral geniculate body and the superficial layers of the visual cortex. Artificial Vision: A Clinical Guide collates the most recent work of key artificial vision research groups to explain in a comparable and stringent order their varying approaches, the clinical or preclinical outcomes and their achievements during the last years. Senior ophthalmic fellows and academic practitioners will find this guide to be an indispensable resource for understanding the current status of artificial vision.
