Abstract
Focusing on local wound care specifically for the dermatologist, this concise text provides a go-to source for practitioners looking for a quick solution for many of the most common wounds as well as an update on what's new in the field. From the most basic principles of local wound care to a look at what upcoming therapies like stem cells and lasers can do, this text is comprehensive and informed. Providing quality local wound care requires an ample knowledge of available products, their cost effectiveness, and the principles for the optimal interventions; Local Wound Care for Dermatologists includes these three guiding points in each chapter that focuses on a specific therapy. Expertly written text is accompanied by multiple tables of drug-specific names, current price points, and comparable products. Chapters include many color images, thereby providing insight to a given wound and the various therapies available to treat it. While the basics are reviewed in the opening chapters, later chapters feature updates in therapies including discussions on what's new in skin substitutes, negative pressure wound therapy, oxygen therapy, and an update in cell based therapy. Written with the dermatologist in mind, Local Wound Care for Dermatologists is an indispensable reference for students, residents, and practicing doctors alike. General practitioners and plastic surgeons will also find this title a useful refresher.

Abstract
Biomechanics is often overlooked when dealing with orthopedic injuries, whether regarding prevention or treatment, and practicing surgeons and surgeons-in-training may feel overwhelmed when referring to a book with a more complicated basic science approach. In order to make the subject clinically relevant to orthopedic trauma surgery, this unique text presents numerous clinical case examples to demonstrate clearly and effectively the principles biomechanics of injury, fixation and fracture healing. Divided into five sections, the opening chapters cover the essentials of stress and strain relevant to bone and joints and how this relates to fractures and their healing, complete with illustrative case material. This case-based approach is carried throughout the book, with part two discussing biomechanical principles of external fixation for diaphyseal and periarticular fractures, limb lengthening and deformity correction. Tension band wiring for both olecranon and patella fractures are covered in part three, and both locking and nonlocking plates are illustrated in part four. The final section describes biomechanical principles of intramedullary nails for a variety of fractures and nonunions, as well as arthrodesis and lengthening. Generous radiological images and intraoperative photos provide a helpful visual enhancement for the clinical material. Making the sometimes esoteric topic of biomechanics more clinically relevant to the practicing clinician, Essential Biomechanics for Orthopedic Trauma will be an excellent resource not only for orthopedic surgeons, sports medicine specialists and trauma surgeons, but also medical and biomedical engineering students and residents.

Abstract
Now completely revised and expanded, this second edition not only includes updated chapters detailing treatment of the most common and troublesome sites for stress fractures, but also more recent research regarding risk factors for the development of stress fractures. As in the original edition, general principles of evaluation, healing considerations and management strategies are discussed in three thematic sections. However, unlike the previous text, this edition will focus on a holistic approach to the treatment of these increasingly common injuries with new chapters on nutritional optimization of athletes at risk for stress fractures, systemic treatment strategies for healing including vitamin D supplementation and parathyroid hormone stimulation, and surgical and injectable biologic treatment modalities for enhanced bone healing. This edition will also include guidelines for on-the-field and training room management of stress fractures for team physicians. This revision is timely, given the increasing rate and severity of bony stress injuries encountered in elite and professional athletes related to single-sport specialization and the increased popularity of endurance sports such as cross-fit, obstacle course racing, and ultramarathon competitions. It will be an ideal resource for sports medicine practitioners including orthopedic surgeons, primary care sports medicine specialists, athletic trainers, and physical therapists.
Contents

Maximizing Healing Potential for Stress Fractures -- The Holistic Approach to Stress Fracture Treatment -- Biomechanics and Stress Fractures: Utility of Running Gait Analysis -- Nutritional Optimization for Athletes with Stress Fractures -- Systemic Treatment Modalities for Stress Fractures -- Orthobiologic Treatment Options for Stress Fractures -- Part III. Management of Common Stress Fracture Sites -- Stress Fractures of the Ribs and Shoulder Girdle -- Stress Fractures of the Upper Extremity -- Stress Fractures of the Lumbar Spine -- Stress Fractures of the Pelvis and Sacrum -- Stress Fractures of the Hip and Femur -- Stress Fractures of the Tibia -- Stress Fractures of the Ankle and Hindfoot -- Stress Fractures of the Midfoot and Forefoot.
