Information about after your surgery includes the recovery area and nursing unit, pain control, exercises, activity, nutrition, passing urine, and bowel movements. Instructions for your surgery and care at home include visitors and discharge from the hospital. Information about while you are in the hospital includes: deep breathing and coughing exercises, using an incentive spirometer, leg exercises, getting out of bed safely, and visitors. Information about discharge (going home) from the hospital includes: nutrition, meal delivery, care of your incision, what to do if you have bleeding after you go home, and symptoms that require medical attention.

If your core biopsy is benign, it will be recommended that you return in 6 months time to have a repeat mammogram of the breast that the biopsy was taken from. This appointment will be booked by IWK Central Booking Office and will be faxed to your family doctor's office. Your family doctor's office will then notify you of the date and time of your repeat mammogram appointment.
