Abstract
All four editors of this title are extremely prominent in the field of PCOS. Although they are all U.S.-based, they are internationally renowned. The book includes the latest diagnostic criteria for PCOS, and comprises the most up to date information about the genetic features and pathogenesis of PCOS. The diagnostic criteria for PCOS took shape in 1990 following an NIH conference co-organized by Dr. Dunaif, resulting in her classic volume, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (1992). That title recommended diagnostic criteria of hyperandrogenism and chronic anovlulation with the exclusion of specific disorder of the ovary, adrenal, and pituitary. These criteria dominated the field but were revised in 2003 by a working group of international experts at a conference in Rotterdam. Since then, it has become increasingly clear over the past several years that PCOS is a complex genetic disease resulting from the interaction of susceptibility genes and environmental factors. This volume critically reviews the methodological approaches and the evidence for various PCOS susceptibility genes. Additional familial phenotypes of PCOS and their potential genetic basis are also discussed. In all, this title is comprehensive and replete with the latest in expert recommendations on PCOS. This expert opinion remains critical to guiding practice in PCOS because sufficient data for evidence-based guidelines remains scarce.

Abstract
Nuclear medicine is an important element of daily practice for the endocrinologist, both for diagnosis and for treatment. The continuous rapid development of nuclear medicine procedures has created the need for a concise, up-to-date practical guide that presents the essential information required by the endocrinologist. This book is designed to ensure ease of use in clinical practice and provides the most relevant information on nuclear medicine as applied to endocrine pathology. It is divided into three sections covering general aspects of nuclear medicine, the role of nuclear endocrinology in diagnosis, and the role of nuclear endocrinology in therapy. The endocrine glands are covered by organ and by pathology. Pertinent background information is provided, choice of radiopharmaceutical is explained, and the role of different image acquisition techniques is discussed. Attention is drawn to radiation safety issues and pitfalls, and informative clinical cases are presented with the aid of high-quality images.

Abstract
A state-of-the-art and concise guide to the clinical management of pediatric endocrine disorders, the second edition of the highly regarded Pediatric Endocrinology: A Practical Clinical Guide covers the most common and challenging conditions seen by practicing endocrinologists and primary care physicians, including growth, hypothalamic, pituitary, adrenal, thyroid, calcium and bone, and reproductive disorders, as well as metabolic syndromes. This expanded second edition includes new topics being seen more commonly in pediatric endocrinology practices related to obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus and lipid disorders. Each chapter contains an introductory discussion of the problem, a review of the clinical features that characterize it, the criteria needed to establish a diagnosis, and a comprehensive therapy section delineating the risks and benefits of the best therapeutic options available. Invaluable tables summarize the critical factors in etiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis, and therapeutic dosages. Pediatric Endocrinology: A Practical Clinical Guide, Second Edition, is a comprehensive resource for all clinicians concerned with the myriad endocrinologic disorders seen in children and adolescents

Abstract
This book provides a detailed guide to the use and interpretation of color Doppler ultrasound, CT, and MR imaging in patients with gynecological disorders. The advantages and limitations of each modality in imaging different pathologies are clearly presented, and advice is provided on the most appropriate option when ultrasound does not permit a definite diagnosis or fails to determine the precise extension of a lesion. Throughout, emphasis is placed on the importance of microscopic and macroscopic findings for a full understanding of the radiological appearances, and relevant points from the basic sciences are also highlighted. Special attention is paid to issues of differential diagnosis and imaging results that are characteristic of a particular type of lesion. The authors are recognized experts in the field who draw upon their considerable experience to provide an up-to-date reference book highly relevant to everyday clinical practice.

Abstract
Presenting an overview of the current understanding of the pathophysiology of PCOS and a paradigm for the clinical evaluation and management of the disorder, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome is written in an easy to digest, concise format that, with bulleted key points introducing each chapter, is suitable for the trainee and the busy clinician. The breadth and depth of coverage of today's queries and controversies will be of particular interest to the specialist and researcher. An international group of leading experts addresses the varied etiologies of PCOS, comprehensively covering the contemporary treatment approaches and long-term implications of PCOS, a common yet poorly understood disorder. Chapters on treatment will be of particular relevance to the clinician and the trainee as they cover conventional therapies, lifestyle, and diet, as well as address emerging strategies such as the use of statins and surgery in PCOS management. Spanning the breadth of clinical presentations and morbidities related to the diagnosis of PCOS, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome is an exceptional resource for primary care providers, gynecologists, reproductive endocrinologists, and others involved in the care of these patients, and provides the essential tools to aid clinicians in initiating a timely diagnostic workup and appropriate interventions to address both the immediate and long-term sequelae related to PCOS.

Abstract
This book on the metabolic aspects of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) reviews the scientific evidence for the key etiological role of insulin resistance in the pathogenesis of PCOS. It also presents a new clinical and diagnostic approach and clearly explains the value of insulin-sensitizing agents, or "insulin sensitizers," in reducing hyperandrogenism and improving fertility outcome. Detailed information is provided on the use of insulin sensitizers such as metformin and inositol, and suitable therapeutic protocols are described. All too often, PCOS is treated by gynecologists only as an endocrine disorder, without recognition of the very important part that insulin plays in the syndrome. Practitioners will find this book to be a valuable source of information on PCOS as a metabolic syndrome and a comprehensive guide to achieving good treatment results.

Abstract
A state-of-the-art and concise resource presenting the clinical management of pediatric endocrine diseases and disorders, this third edition of the highly regarded textbook covers the most common and challenging conditions seen by practicing endocrinologists and primary care physicians, including growth, hypothalamic, pituitary, adrenal, thyroid, calcium and bone, and reproductive disorders, as well as metabolic syndromes. This expanded third edition includes new topics such as conditions of overgrowth, low bone density and its management, endocrine issues related to sexual identity, mineralocorticoid disorders and endocrine hypertension, and endocrine emergencies. Some existing chapters are expanded to take into account recent advances in the field. Each chapter contains key points, an introductory discussion of the problem, a review of the clinical features that characterize it, the criteria needed to establish a diagnosis, and a comprehensive therapy section delineating the risks and benefits of the best therapeutic options available. New to this edition are concluding sections in each chapter containing relevant case material and multiple choice review questions. Pediatric Endocrinology: A Practical Clinical Guide, Third Edition is a comprehensive resource for all clinicians concerned with the myriad endocrinologic disorders seen in children and adolescents.

Further, it analyzes the basic, clinical and therapeutic aspects of endometriosis, as well as the important opportunities that SPRMs (selective progesterone receptor modulators) offer in contraception and fibroid therapy. This book is a useful tool for gynecologists, endocrinologists and general practitioners, and is a valuable resource for all physicians involved in women’s health.
