Abstract
This comprehensive work broadens readers' understanding of the rudimentary mechanism of the anti-cancer effect of hyperthermia. It also presents state-of-the-art clinical outcomes by hyperthermia treatment of cancer. In the past few decades, basic and clinical research have shown through in vitro experiments that hyperthermia inhibits epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), resulting in the prevention of metastasis. It also has been learned that hyperthermia shows its superior benefit when applied in combination with radiation therapy, chemotherapy, or various immunotherapies as treatments of several types of carcinoma. The chapters here from expert contributors describe the details of their research for each type of cancer. This book provides not only an overview and the current status of hyperthermia but also its future perspectives. Therefore this volume will greatly benefit oncologists, radiologists and radiology technologists, and chemotherapists who are involved in immunotherapy for all kinds of cancer.

Abstract
This book has been designed to provide the full description of the comprehensive management of peritoneal surface malignancies which have originated from different primaries, such as breast cancer, small bowel cancers and imatinib resistant GISTosis and sarcomas and pseudomyxoma. The book provides the most up-to-date information on current approaches such as cytoreductive surgery and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy. Given the increasing evidence that the patients who may benefit from this treatment modality avoid potential lethal course of these diseases, the book explores the application of these approaches to a number of types of malignancy. The first chapters explore Benign Multicystic Mesothelioma and Pseudomyxoma Peritonei arising from unusual primaries. Among other explored topics are peritoneal metastases from serous papillary uterine carcinoma, sarcoma and from unusual origins. This book is valuable for surgical oncologists who deal with the management of peritoneal surface malignancies.
Contents
1. Peritoneal Metastasis from Small Bowel Adenocarcinoma Associated with Crohn’s Disease -- 2. Selection of Chemotherapy in Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy -- 3. Abstract
This book covers different aspects of the rare neoplasms – malignant mesothelioma and pseudomyxoma peritonei. The monograph includes up-to-date information on etiology, pathogenesis and diagnostics of malignant mesothelioma and pseudomyxoma peritonei, as well as detailed description of surgical and combined treatment of patients with these diseases. The book comprises a large illustrative material presented by schemes and original micrographs that represent pathological and immunohistochemical specific features of these malignancies, demonstrate the stages of surgical operations and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy, and show the results of experimental studies. The book includes validated discussion on etiology and pathogenesis of malignant mesothelioma and pseudomyxoma peritonei, differential diagnosis and treatment of these diseases. The scope is really extensive and involves, for instance, a description of the technique of cytoreductive surgeries and regimens of intraperitoneal hyperthermic chemoperfusion, whereas a particular section discusses experimental ground for optimal regimens of hyperthermia, local chemotherapy and adoptive immunotherapy by cytokine induced killers. The final section presents the most recent data about perspective approaches for immunotherapy of malignant mesothelioma and pseudomyxoma peritonei with cell based technologies and target drugs including inhibitors of immune checkpoints. The co-authors of the book are leading specialists in this area, surgeons and scientists who present the results of their research along with the analysis of the state-of-the-art of this problem. The book is designed for a wide audience of students and professors of medical universities and schools, specialists of research and diagnostic centers, practical oncologists and immunologists, as well as doctors of different medical areas.

Abstract
Regional cancer therapies remain important options in the management of malignant disease, in spite of the venue of more targeted agents for systemic therapies. New technologies and better guidance systems for radiofrequency ablation and intrastitial laser therapies, highly selective intravascular approaches with improved catheters and guidance systems, improved agents for embolizations, and new vasoactive drugs for isolated limb and liver perfusions are just a few of the new developments in a field that is alive and progressing. Regional Cancer Therapy, so well put together by the editors Peter M. Schlag and Ulrike S. Stein, presents an overview of today's realities and tomorrow's possibilities. Regional cancer therapy models provide ways to make new discoveries about tumor biology and new agents that may be used regionally as well as systemically. This book should therefore be of interest to all clinicians and scientists with an interest in tumor biology as well as clinical advances. The treatment of malignant tumors has been substantially improved in recent years due to developments in clinical medicine and technology as well as by advances in molecular biological research. Modern molecular and genetic techniques allow the characterization of molecules that are decisive for tumor development and progression.

Abstract
This text provides a comprehensive textbook summarizing the presentation, workup, and surgical solutions for common emergencies in the cancer patient. The use of medications (antibiotics, hormones, and biologic therapies) and interventional radiologic procedures as adjuncts or as replacements for the surgical solutions are discussed. The text covers emergencies that result as adverse effects for the systemic and local treatments for cancer, emergencies that result from mechanical issues with the cancer and those that result from surviving major extirpative surgery. Diagnosis and treatment of patients' immune-compromised or thrombocytopenic status from chemotherapy is discussed, as is surgical treatment in patients with prior complex surgical therapy or radiation treatment. Finally, the text covers alternatives to surgery, including new interventional radiologic and endoscopic procedures. Surgical Emergencies in the Cancer Patient will be of great value to healthcare professionals at all levels who are involved in the treatment of emergencies in the cancer patient. It is meant for a wide group of individuals, including medical students, residents in surgery and internal medicine, fellows in surgery and oncology, and practicing oncologists and surgeons. This work is meant to be a textbook for the student, a guide for the practitioner, and a reference for the general oncologist.

Abstract
This book encompasses all areas for mesothelioma care, treatment, and research. Using nurses, social workers, surgeons, oncologist, radiologist and pain specialist to give the reader a comprehensive overview of mesothelioma treatment. Indeed, mesothelioma is a cancer that mainly affects the pleura and peritoneum, usually caused by exposure to asbestos. The number of individuals diagnosed with mesothelioma is increasing world-wide, particularly in developing countries where the use of asbestos remains uncontrolled. In spite of advances in chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgical approaches, mesothelioma remains resistant to treatment. According to the International Mesothelioma Interest group, overall survival has not improved; median survival times vary from one month to eighteen months. A small number of patients remain asymptomatic or with minimal symptoms for extended periods, and fewer live three years or more. Mesothelioma is often associated with difficult, intractable symptoms, particularly pain and difficulty breathing. Especially poor prognoses have been reported for those diagnosed with sarcomatoid rather than epithelioid histology, or with advanced disease, poor performance status, or pain and loss of appetite. Despite substantial progress of the last two decades improving the quality of life of patients with cancer, many mesothelioma patients still experience physical, psychological, social, and financial burdens. The development of multimodality treatment and mesothelioma centers has given renewed hope to patients. This book serves as a unique tool for medical professional while providing care for mesothelioma patients.

Abstract
This book, now in a thoroughly revised and extended second edition, clearly explains the nature of colon polyps and their relationship to colorectal cancer. On this basis, it goes on to provide up-to-date guidance on disease prevention and treatment. The book opens by describing the anatomy and histology of the colon and all aspects of the use of colonoscopy, including in the presence of infectious disease and in pregnant patients. The histopathological features of colon polyps and their endoscopic and surgical treatment are then discussed in depth. Risk factors for the development of colorectal cancer are identified, with advice on preventive measures, and detailed clinical information is presented on the treatment options for colorectal cancer, from open surgery, laparoscopic resection, and robotic surgery to neoadjuvant and adjuvant radiotherapy and chemotherapy. In addition, the different potential approaches in patients with liver metastases are fully described. The book will be invaluable for medical specialists and students, and the clear style ensures that it will also be accessible for other interested persons, including patients.
