Abstract
The purpose of the The Active Female: Health Issues Throughout the Lifespan, 2nd Edition is twofold: (1) to increase the awareness of wellness and fitness issues for active females and their family members; and (2) to provide an avenue for medical practitioners, allied health professionals, health educators, and certified individuals in sports medicine to gain critical, updated knowledge of a field specific to active females. Part I of the book offers a foundation to help the reader understand the interrelationship among body image concerns, the female reproductive cycle, and musculoskeletal anatomy/physiology of females that makes their health risks and concerns unique. Reproductive health is discussed by a prominent researcher in reproduction/endocrinology. An overview of the Female Athlete Triad which is a syndrome of three interrelated conditions (isordered eating, menstrual disturbances and bone loss) is presented in Part II. Physicians and certified professionals in sports medicine discuss the individual components of the triad, relating not only to the athletic female but also to the recreationally active woman throughout the lifespan. In Part III, Prevention and management of common musculoskeletal injuries is addressed by a female orthopedic surgeon who sub-specializes in treating female athletes. Finally, appropriate exercise and nutritional guidelines for active females are discussed in Parts IV-V of the book by certified professionals and licensed physicians in sports medicine. An invaluable addition to the literature, The Active Female: Health Issues Throughout the Lifespan, 2nd Edition will be of great interest to physicians, allied health care practitioners, medical/other wellness educators, and students who are interested in advancing women's health issues. Sports medicine specialists, family practitioners, gynecologists, team physicians, residents in sports medicine, athletic trainers, health educators, nurses, physicians assistants, physical therapists, sport psychologists, counselors, athletic trainers, and other members of the sports medicine team should also find this title of significant interest.

Abstract
This book provides a comprehensive, state-of-the-art account of the role of immunohistochemistry in the diagnosis of skin tumors, which is crucial given that overlapping histologic features and unusual morphologic changes can lead to considerable diagnostic uncertainty. The book reviews in detail the sensitivity and specificity of commonly available antibodies and their pattern of immunostaining. Readers will learn when to order antibodies and how to interpret findings. In addition, prognostic markers are evaluated and emphasis placed on the pitfalls commonly encountered when evaluating these neoplasms. The informative text is complemented by a wealth of superb images. Helpful histograms and algorithms are included, and clear guidance is provided on the application and interpretation of less commonly used antibodies and immunostains. With the emergence of many immunomarkers, immunohistochemistry has become a vital ancillary diagnostic tool in dermatopathology and an essential adjunct for the correct identification of skin neoplasms. Indeed, immunohistochemistry has replaced simple morphologic evaluation as the definitive diagnostic method for various tumor types. The complexity of some skin neoplasms makes it imperative that the role of immunohistochemistry in subtyping these conditions is clearly understood. Against this background, Applied Immunohistochemistry in the Evaluation of Skin Neoplasms will serve as an extremely valuable resource for practicing dermatopathologists and pathologists.

Abstract
This is the first atlas to depict in high-resolution images the fine structure of the spinal canal, the nervous plexuses, and the peripheral nerves in relation to clinical practice. The Atlas of Functional Anatomy for Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine contains more than 1500 images of unsurpassed quality, most of which have never been published, including scanning electron microscopy images of neuronal ultrastructures, macroscopic sectional anatomy, and three-dimensional images reconstructed from patient imaging studies. Each chapter begins with a short introduction on the covered subject but then allows the images to embody the rest of the work; detailed text accompanies figures to guide readers through anatomy, providing evidence-based, clinically relevant information. Beyond clinically relevant anatomy, the book features regional anesthesia equipment (needles, catheters, surgical gloves) and overview of some cutting edge research instruments (e.g. scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy). Of interest to regional anesthesiologists, interventional pain physicians, and surgeons, this compendium is meant to complement texts that do not have this type of graphic material in the subjects of regional anesthesia, interventional pain management, and surgical techniques of the spine or peripheral nerves.

Abstract
This atlas provides a concise overview of the principle of fat grafting and its clinical applications to treat aging in the central areas of the face in a minimally invasive manner. The authors start with a short description of the anatomical basis of facial aging and by presenting current facial rejuvenation techniques. Here the emphasis is on the process of harvesting and preparing macro-, micro-, intradermal and nano-fat for injection. Thanks to the book's numerous illustrations and short descriptions, readers will find valuable information on where and how to inject the fat combined with the authors' individual techniques and refinements. Aging is a major issue in today's society. Facial rejuvenation procedures seek to enhance the final outcome and durability of surgery and to minimize drawbacks. The current trend is to use less invasive methods requiring fewer incisions, which produce more natural-looking results. This atlas shows the authors' personal techniques to help achieve that goal.

Abstract
This multidisciplinary book addresses three lines of evidence (medieval, contemporary, and epigenetic) regarding the effect of human socio-economic status on bone health. It provides an overview of the extent to which human social background affects adult bone quality and quantity, and makes recommendations for future skeletal biology research into lifestyle-related musculoskeletal disorders. The book is divided into three major parts, the first of which discusses bone and dental health in medieval human skeletal remains from distinct socio-economic status groups. In turn, Part 2 reviews bone health in contemporary human populations with a range of social backgrounds; in addition, a conceptual model proposing a social gradient of osteoporosis and fracture risk related to biological mechanisms and cumulative stressors throughout the human lifecycle is presented. Lastly, Part 3 highlights the role of epigenetics in socially patterned risk factors for skeletal disorders, and discusses how epigenetic mechanisms transduce the psychosocial environment and increase the risk of developing conditions such as osteoporosis. Overall, the book highlights the importance of considering the social-biological nexus in future skeletal biology research and future treatment of bone disease. Increased awareness of this nexus can potentially improve individual and population-level bone health interventions, reducing the social inequities observed in fracture risk. Given its scope, the book offers a valuable resource for researchers, academics, and students in the fields of medicine, epidemiology, the health sciences, biological anthropology, human anatomy and adaptation, developmental studies of human societies, human biology, and any field concerning musculoskeletal disorders and health. It will also benefit clinical practitioners evaluating osteoporosis, osteopenia, fracture risk, bone quality and quantity.

The authors are experienced practitioners of Cañadell's technique, but the book also explores, thanks to the focused contributions of experts from other fields of medicine, a range of topics from the molecular biology and histological aspects of bone tumors, to the use of imaging techniques and surgical options for epiphyseal preservation. Abundant illustrations and accounts of clinical results make this book an indispensable guide for orthopedic surgeons and pediatric oncologists and give the book an interdisciplinary appeal to practitioners in more general orthopedics, oncology, pediatrics and surgery.

Abstract
As health care is moving toward a team effort with patients as partners, this book provides guidance on the optimized use of health information and supporting technologies, and how people think and make decisions that affect their health and wellbeing. It focuses on investigations of how general public understand health information, assess risky behaviors, make healthcare decisions, and how they use health information technologies. e-health technologies have opened up new horizons for promoting increased self-reliance in patients. Although information technologies are now in widespread use, there is often a disparity between the scientific and technological knowledge underlying health care practices and the cultural beliefs, mental models, and cognitive representations of illness and disease. Misconceptions based on inaccurate perceptions and mental models, and flawed prior beliefs could lead to miscommunication as well as to erroneous decisions about individuals' own health or the health of their family members. Cognitive Informatics in Health and Biomedicine: Understanding and Modeling Health Behaviors presents state of the art research in cognitive informatics for assessing the impact of patient behavior. It is designed to assist all involved at the intersection of the health care institution and the patient and covers contributions from recognized researchers and leaders in the field.

Abstract
This text provides the reader a starting point for the most difficult and uncommon complications in acute care surgery. It is designed to provide options to that ubiquitous intra-operative or bedside question "Well, now what do we do with this?" The topics have been chosen for the extreme difficulty of management and the surprising regularity that they present and the lack of large volume of accumulated evidence, where expert experience remains vital. The volume editors present a list of clinical scenarios, intra-operative findings, and ethical circumstances that few general surgeons in their career will see in their career. The authors represent the most prolific surgeons in practice today. They present how they wound manage these challenging acute care surgery problems based on their vast clinical experience. Here, these surgeons share their personal experience with the most difficult cases. The text is divided into 4 parts. The first part is "Global Patient Issues" when a singular surgical problem presents itself in a very complicated patient with an extensive list of unstable co-morbid diseases. The second part is "Specific Disease Issues." This is a surgical text and as such each issue is an unexpected intra-operative finding and expert management. The third part is "Post-Operative Issues" and as any seasoned surgeon knows, is the most critical part of managing a complicated surgical case. The last section is "Challenging Ethical Scenarios." The text is designed to provide the surgeon in training or the seasoned general surgeon unique clinical or operative options for the care of their patients.
