- Treatment by means of dental implants has become increasingly common, but it is now recognized that cementation during the restorative phase can be the source of significant problems. Nevertheless, few dentists have a clear understanding of why related disease processes arise and there is a similar lack of awareness of the factors to be considered in cement selection, which all too often appears essentially arbitrary. This book examines in detail the issues associated with cementation in dental implantology, with a particular focus on residual excess cement and its consequences. It provides reliable guidance on cement selection and use on the basis of the latest scientific research. Among the topics addressed are microbial aspects of cement selection, new abutment designs, aesthetic considerations, margin placement, and the role of radiography. The relation of peri-implant disease to residual excess cement is explored in depth, and alternatives to the cementation process are also considered. All of the chapters have been written by leading experts in restorative and surgical dental implantology. - Eyelid tumors are commonly encountered by oculoplastic as well as plastic surgeons. The challenge of managing these cases lies not only in performing the surgery in a precise manner in small area, but also in ensuring a visually-appealing cosmetic outcome. This is an innovative and concise portable handbook that guides the surgeons on how to approach and manage these cases in a step-by-step manner. Each chapter of this practical guidebook has outstanding illustrations drawn in full color clearly showing each incision line, flap management, suture placement and its technique, and the expected cosmetic outcome. When a lid tumor is excised, there is a tissue defect that needs to be corrected. Ophthalmologists and plastic surgeons will find this work an excellent reference material to solve the jigsaw puzzle of tissue defects in and around the periorbital region. Importantly, they can quickly refer to the images just before starting a procedure. The author has first explained the anatomical aspects and anesthetic techniques for eyelid surgery, followed by review of the benign and malignant tumors, finally describing the flap creation and reconstruction techniques that are currently used in various lid tumors in an organized fashion.

Frozen Section Library: Breast provides an easy reference and pocket book about the nuances of adequately handling breast specimens in a fashion that meets the increasingly complex environment of breast pathology. The pros and cons of frozen section versus use of touch imprint as well as related quality assurance requirements are addressed. Other less common uses of intraoperative evaluation, such as diagnosis and margin evaluation are described. The volume includes recommended guidelines for evaluation and documentation of specific gross pathologic features, in conjunction with radiological imaging. Techniques and protocols for such examinations are illustrated. The volume closes with an overview of the newly published guidelines for handling a variety of breast specimens, which are intended to be used for assessment of predictive factors. Syed K. - This volume showcases recent high-quality work relating to the pathophysiology, biophysics, monitoring, and treatment of traumatic brain injury and hydrocephalus that was presented at the 15th International Symposium on Intracranial Pressure and Brain Monitoring (ICP), held in Singapore in November 2013. The included papers derive from experts in neurointensive care, physiology, physics, engineering, and neurosurgery who have made important contributions in this translational area of research. All were selected from among oral and oral-poster presentations following a rigorous peer-review process involving the ICP Board members, and their focus ranges from the latest research findings and developments to clinical trials and experimental studies. While other resources may include only a handful of paediatric images in a practice reporting packet, this book is dedicated solely to improving paediatric reporting skill and knowledge. It is designed to address an important deficiency identified in the FRCR Part 2B Examiners’ Report, in that “many candidates struggle with interpretation of paediatric imaging – even for common paediatric pathologies”. The ten practice tests presented, each with 30 images, will assist readers not only in passing the examination but also in the real world when they have to report paediatric radiographs independently. The range of cases covered, from neonate to adolescent, delivers a sound knowledge of both common paediatric fracture patterns and patterns which are subtler but require a definitive answer as to whether they are normal or abnormal. Guidance is also provided on how to describe each abnormality.

Axillary treatment issues have become top priorities in recent primary breast cancer care, and these are highlighted in the book's presentation of technological advances in lymph node mapping and diagnosis, axillary clearance in patients with nodal metastasis, and the role of axillary surgery. Attention is also given to locoregional treatment after preoperative systemic therapy. Because therapeutic impact differs depending upon biological characteristics such as tumor subtype, local therapy should be based both on tumor biology and on therapeutic response in parallel. - In recent years the relevance of non-invasive bioimaging techniques in the field of melanoma screening has steadily increased. In the new era of "clinicoimaging" diagnosis, reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) will have a major impact on the diagnosis and management of neoplastic and inflammatory skin diseases. This book focuses on the use and significance of in vivo RCM for non-invasive high-resolution imaging of the skin. Transanal minimally invasive surgery (TAMIS) was designed for local excision of select rectal neoplasms, however soon it became realized that the TAMIS technique could be used for applications beyond local excision, most notably for transanal total mesorectal excision (taTME). This new operative technique has revolutionized our approach to the distal rectum by allowing for improved access, especially in obese male patients with an android pelvis, and by minimizing abdominal wall access trauma. The endpoints of improved oncologic resection, as defined by mesorectal envelope completeness, negative circumferential resection margins, and negative distal margin, are assessed. This book details controversies, pitfalls, and future directions of taTME and TAMIS.
