Abstract
With cases reflecting the classic presentation format of each disease process, this book prepares students for patient encounters during their oral and maxillofacial surgery rotations. It also helps residents learn and review "high yield" material that is commonly found in oral and maxillofacial training and on board examinations. It highlights clinical information that is commonly asked during rounds, in the operating room, and during examinations. For each case, it includes an overview of the most common clinical presentation, physical exam findings, diagnostic tools, complications, treatment, and a discussion of any controversial issues that may surround the case. The authors describe this book as "A little reach for the dental student, right on target for the OMS resident, and a strong refresher for OMS board certification." Case-based format prepares students and residents to pass the OMSSAT, with the Table of Contents corresponding to the exam's categories and questions.95 clinical cases focus on essential information regarding each disease process. Detailed illustrations -- including radiographs and clinical photographs or drawings -- provide a visual guide to conditions, techniques, diagnoses, and key concepts. Complements other Elsevier books such as Peterson: Contemporary Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Fonseca: Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and Ward Booth: Maxillofacial Surgery.

This pamphlet is a French translation of "Miscarriage: Yarmouth Regional Hospital" pamphlet 2009. There is no “right” way to feel after a miscarriage. Some women may recover quickly, while others take a long time. Some may cope well at the time, but find the pain of their loss hits them later. You are not alone in this terrible experience. About 1 in 4 pregnancies ends in miscarriage, and we don’t always know why. Nothing you did or didn’t do is likely to have caused the miscarriage. This pamphlet answers some common questions you may have and describes what to expect if you experience pregnancy loss. A list of symptoms that need followup at the nearest Emergency Department is listed. A list of local resources are provided if you wish to seek extra support in your community.

Abstract
This volume offers readers a pragmatic approach to endodontic therapy for permanent molars, based on up-to-date evidence. All chapters were written by experts in the field, and focus on preparation for treatment, vital pulp therapy, access cavity preparation, root canal shaping, outcome assessment, retreatment, apical surgery, and specific aspects of restorations for root canal-treated molars. The role of micro-CT data in visualizing canal anatomy is compared to cone beam CT, and detailed information on current clinical tools, such as irrigation adjuncts and engine-driven preparation tools is provided. Important steps are illustrated in clinical photographs and radiographs, as well as by schematic diagrams. Tables and check boxes highlight key points for special attention, and clinical pitfalls. Guiding references are provided. Performing molar endodontics is often a daunting prospect, regardless of the practice setting. This is where "Molar Endodontics" is an ideal source of guidance for practitioners. Special devices and recent innovations in apex locators and nickel-titanium instruments have, however, made procedures significantly easier and more practical for non-specialists. This book will help conscientious clinicians to master molar endodontics with well-described and established clinical methods.
Contents
1. Molar Root Canal Anatomy -- 2. Diagnosis in Molar Endodontics -- 3. Local Anesthesia -- 4. Vital Pulp Therapy for Permanent Molars -- 5. Molar Access -- 6. Shaping, Disinfection, and Obturation for Molars -- 7. Considerations for the Restoration of Endodontically Treated Molars -- 8. The Outcome of Endodontic Treatment -- 9. Nonsurgical Root Canal Retreatment -- 10. Endodontic Microsurgery for Molars.

Abstract
The Tohoku University Graduate School of Dentistry first introduced the concept of "Interface Oral Health Science", designed to establish and maintain healthy oral cavities, which are home to a number of mixed systems. Included in those systems are: (1) host tissues such as teeth, mucosa, muscle and bone, (2) parasites and microorganisms cohabiting the surfaces of the oral cavity, and (3) biomaterials that are used for the rehabilitation of oral functions. In addition, (4) these systems are subject to severe and complex mechanical forces. Therefore, it is critical to promote dental studies that integrate a wide range of interdisciplinary research as medicine, agriculture, material science, engineering, and pharmacology. With this incentive, international symposiums for interface oral health science have been held several times in the past. The concept has since refined and expanded, the result being the "Biosis-Abiosis Intelligent Interface", and projects aiming at the creation of highly functional and autonomic intelligent interfaces are ongoing. This book brings together a number of studies on incentives and projects by leading authors. Topics include biosis-abiosis interface of dental implants, biomaterials in interface science, biomedical engineering interface, and cell manipulation and tissue regeneration. Readers not only from the field of dentistry but also many related areas will find this book a valuable resource.

Abstract
This book provides a comprehensive introduction to physiologic anchorage control, explains the implications for clinical practice, and presents an anchorage technique applicable for the treatment of different malocclusions. The concept of physiologic anchorage control is derived from observations of upper molar movement during growth in adolescence, including in the absence of orthodontic treatment, which indicate that molar forward displacement comprises two components: the first due to biologic force or physiologic anchorage loss and the second due to orthodontic force or mechanical anchorage loss. All previous anchorage methods have been based on the assumption that molar anchorage loss is to be attributed solely to the mechanical force used to retract anterior teeth, and the new concept represents a paradigm shift of clinical significance. This book explores the pattern of upper molar growth in depth, highlights the physiologic significance of the curve of Spee, and analyzes the biomechanics of physiologic anchorage control. An anchorage control system that fully takes into account the latest conceptual insights is described and its clinical use and utility, examined.

Paradigm Shift by Straight Wire Appliance and Its Impact on Anchorage Control -- 3. Craniofacial Growth and Its Interaction with the Maxillary Anchor Molars -- 4. This book discusses the epidemiology and etiology of DDE, including defects of both primary and permanent teeth, associated syndromes, Molar Incisor Hypomineralization and more generalized genetic defects. The structure and mechanical properties of affected enamel are discussed particularly in relation to clinical behavior. The signs and symptoms that allow accurate diagnosis are outlined and management protocols described. The clinical chapters are well illustrated, providing clear, evidence based guidelines where appropriate. Importantly the impact of living with DDE is explored from the young person's perspective. These insights challenge the dental profession to seek improved understanding of the condition and to develop new management strategies. Avenues for future research are identified that may help the profession rise to this challenge and to better meet the needs and expectations of future generations of children and adolescents.
