Abstract
This book offers a comprehensive and clinically relevant survey of adolescent gynecology. Adolescent Gynecology: A Clinical Casebook addresses the many intersecting considerations of gynecologic and reproductive health care for this population using a concise, case-based format. Organized in four sections, the first introduces chapters on adolescent confidentiality, puberty, and well care. Section II covers varied menstrual disorders, while Section III highlights issues in reproductive health care including sexually transmitted infection and adolescent pregnancy. Finally, Section IV addresses special populations of adolescents, including chapters on girls who have sex with girls, girls who are victims of abuse and girls with special health care needs and chronic health conditions. In each section common gynecologic health issues are discussed in the context of these clinical cases, provide the knowledge needed to further improve comprehensive care of adolescent patients. Adolescent Gynecology: A Clinical Casebook is a unique resource that delivers essential clinical information for Adolescent Medicine and Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology fellowship trainees, as well as for medical students, resident trainees, and primary care practitioners who are the front-line caregivers for adolescent girls.

Abstract
This book provides detailed information on the different forms of injury that are associated with training for and participation in Alpine skiing, covering risk factors and epidemiology, incidence, injury patterns, and, above all, preventive strategies and current management approaches. Conditions addressed in individual chapters include concussion, traumatic dislocations due to high-energy trauma or inappropriate movements, overuse injuries resulting from dry-land training or skiing on snow, the fractures typically associated with present-day Alpine skiing accidents, and musculoskeletal disorders. The importance of a sound understanding of biomechanics and physiological systems for the design of suitable training protocols and trauma prevention is clearly explained, and in-depth information and guidance are provided on training and testing for elite skiers and return to sporting activity following injury. Among the other topics addressed in individual chapters are the relationship of changes in skiing equipment over recent decades to particular types of injury and the potential consequences of exposure to hypobaric hypoxia and other stressors at high altitude. The book will be of great value to all medical professionals who work with or care for Alpine skiers, as well as for trainers and the skiers themselves.
Contents
1. Biomechanics of Alpine Skiing -- 2. Physiology of Alpine Skiing -- 3. Training and Testing for Elite Skiers -- 4. Epidemiology of Alpine Skiing Injuries -- 5. Concussion in Alpine Ski -- 6. Traumatic Dislocation and Fractures -- 7. Overuse Injuries in Alpine Skiers -- 8. Prevention of Overuse Injuries in Alpine Skiers -- 9. Musculoskeletal Disorders among Elite Alpine Skiing Racers -- 10. Return to Elite Alpine Sports Activity after Injury -- 11. Role of Ski Equipment on Injury Rate -- 12. Respiratory System Illness and Hypoxia.

Abstract
In light of more clinical experience, this book reviews the principles and concepts underlying Professor Sir John Charnley's original work Low Friction Arthroplasty of the Hip: Theory and Practice. Consistency of design, materials, principles of surgical techniques and regular follow-up of a large number of patients has offered truly long-term results to be presented in this book. Charnley Low-Frictional Torque Arthroplasty of the Hip: Practice and Results involves studies spanning from 1962 - 2015 to successfully indicate the avenues for further development and new ideas in clinical practice. With over 40 years of research included, this book is not a sudden diversion into a speculative area of hip replacement surgery. It is a carefully documented work of the evolution of the Charnley low-frictional torque arthroplasty to assist surgeons who practice this technique in their daily clinical work.

Abstract
This excellently illustrated book equips dental students and practitioners with all the information and guidance required in order to plan optimally the treatment of edentulous patients. Introductory chapters identify the anatomic landmarks and age-related changes in these patients and explain how evaluation should be performed. Preprosthetic planning and impression procedures are then described in detail, covering key principles, mouth preparation, selection of impression material and technique, construction and adjustment of the custom tray, and border molding techniques. The final part of the volume focuses on establishing the occlusal relationship. Readers will find clear explanation of concepts of occlusion in prosthodontics, the recording of maxillomandibular relations, types of mandibular movement, and other important topics. Throughout the book, much attention is devoted to problem solving. A companion volume covering the implementation of complete denture treatment, including resolution of postinsertion problems, is available separately.

Abstract
The comprehensive approach to anatomy is a new attempt to understand the organization of anatomical structures instead of only memorizing details, which is both time-consuming and prone to error. The basic principle is that man did not design man, a truth which presents the solution and not the problem. This kind of approach requires first observing a function and identifying, in engineering terms, the technical problems that need to be solved in order to achieve that function. In a second step the anatomical solution is examined in terms of validation and should always be an intelligent solution that puts the characteristics of specific living tissues to optimal use. Anatomy is obviously the mandatory basis of all types of medical practice. For centuries, its rigorous methodology has relied on dissection, which is the only means to precisely identify the morphology of organs and for surgeons to learn how to directly and safely reach the structures they need to operate on. Accordingly, this book includes illustrations of many dissections and anatomical sections in order to provide a realistic view of the complex organization of the human body. This book addresses the needs of a broad range of medical and paramedical practitioners interested in movements and their disorders: MDs and surgeons of all specialties, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, X-ray manipulators, osteopathic specialists, etc. Its goal is to demonstrate the amazing intelligence and complexity of human motor functions and to better grasp the how and why of their construction.

Abstract
In the later stages of gestation, fetal functions undergo increasing change and development, preparing the fetus for the transition to its postnatal environment. Rapid maturation is witnessed in breathing, swallowing, sensory functions, sleep, and many other processes, with corresponding behavioral changes. By 35 to 40 weeks of gestation, fetuses are capable of living ex utero without support, but it is increasingly appreciated that even infants born at between 35 and 36 weeks can suffer long-term consequences. This book, which complements the author's previous volume on development of normal fetal movements during the first 25 weeks of gestation, discusses in detail the full range of behavioral phenomena observed during the final 15 weeks of gestation, with careful analysis of their mutual relationships. A key feature is the outstanding photographic material, difficult to obtain at this late stage, and the instructive graphs thatááare also included. The information provided will alert clinicians to deviations from the norm and to physiologic phenomena that can turn pathologic in infants born prematurely.
Contents
Introduction -- General Movements -- Localized or Isolated Movements -- Fetal Breathing Movements and Shallow Fetal Breathing Movements -- Swallowing, Sucking, and Mouthing -- Startles, Twitches and Clonuses - Seemingly Trivial Fetal Motions: Yawning and Hiccups -- Fetuses: Facial Motions or Facial Expressions? -- Fetal Behavioral States -- Twin Fetuses: Facts and Late-Pregnancy Twin Myths -- Fetal Sensory Abilities -- Conclusions.
