Abstract
In this book, world-renowned experts in the field of hematopoietic cell transplantation examine a range of issues and controversies relating to apheresis, with the aim of identifying current trends and best practices. Readers will find up-to-date guidance on donor evaluation, CD34+ cell mobilization strategies, options and selection of apheresis device, anticoagulation techniques in apheresis, the role of prediction algorithms in determining procedure eligibility and length, and the prevention and management of complications. Applications of apheresis devices in the processing of bone marrow grafts are discussed, and detailed attention is devoted to the indications and rationale for therapeutic apheresis procedures, with individual chapters focusing on therapeutic plasma exchange and immunoadsorption, red cell exchange, and extracorporeal photopheresis. Finally, the applications of apheresis in pediatric donors and in resource-limiting environments are considered. This book, featuring numerous helpful tables, algorithms, and figures, will be of high practical value for residents, fellows, faculty members and other healthcare personnel involved in hematopoietic cell transplantation.

Abstract
This book provides an overview of the state of the art in research on and treatment of gambling disorder. As a behavioral addiction, gambling disorder is of increasing relevance to the field of mental health. Research conducted in the last decade has yielded valuable new insights into the characteristics and etiology of gambling disorder, as well as effective treatment strategies. The different chapters of this book present detailed information on the general concept of addiction as applied to gambling, the clinical characteristics, epidemiology and comorbidities of gambling disorder, as well as typical cognitive distortions found in patients with gambling disorder. In addition, the book includes chapters discussing animal models and the genetic and neurobiological underpinnings of the disorder. Further, it is examining treatment options including pharmacological and psychological intervention methods, as well as innovative new treatment approaches. The book also discusses relevant similarities to and differences with substance-related disorders and other behavioral addictions. Lastly, it examines gambling behavior from a cultural perspective, considers possible prevention strategies and outlines future perspectives in the field.
Contents
What is an addiction? -- Gambling disorder as a clinical phenomenon -- Cognitive Distortions in gambling disorder -- Genetics of gambling disorder -- Neurobiology of gambling disorder -- Pharmacological interventions in gambling disorder -- Psychological interventions in gambling disorder -- Innovative approaches in therapy of gambling disorder -- Similarities and differences to other non-substance related disorders (“behavioral addictions”) -- Differences to substance related disorders -- Cultural perspective on gambling disorder -- Prevention of gambling disorder -- Future perspectives.

Abstract
Mental Health and Social Problems is a textbook for social work students and practitioners. It explores the complicated relationship between mental conditions and societal issues as well as examining risk and protective factors for the prevalence, course, adaptation to and recovery from mental illness. The introductory chapter presents bio-psycho-social and life-modeled approaches to helping individuals and families with mental illness. The book is divided into two parts. Part I addresses specific social problems, such as poverty, oppression, racism, war, violence, and homelessness, identifying the factors which contribute to vulnerabilities and risks for the development of mental health problems, including the barriers to accessing quality services. Part II presents the most current empirical findings and practice knowledge about prevalence, diagnosis, assessment, and intervention options for a range of common mental health problems - including personality conditions, eating conditions and affective conditions. Focusing throughout upon mental health issues for children, adolescents, adults and older adults, each chapter includes case studies and web resources. This practical book is ideal for social work students who specialize in mental health"--Provided by publisher.

Abstract
This truly comprehensive reference, in a mini-series format with five volumes, offers a detailed description of both well-known and recently introduced methods for percutaneous penetration enhancement. The first three volumes are devoted to the broad range of chemical methods used to enhance the skin delivery of drugs, including the vast variety of chemical penetration enhancers, drug and vehicle manipulation strategies, nanocarriers, and many others. The fourth volume discusses the diverse physical methods used in penetration enhancement, such as sonophoresis, iontophoresis, electroporation, microporation, laser ablation, and microneedles. Determination of drug penetration is covered in the final volume, with a focus especially on mathematics in skin permeation and modern analytical techniques adapted to assess and measure penetration. This edition of Percutaneous Penetration Enhancers will be an invaluable resource for researchers, pharmaceutical scientists, practitioners, and also students.

Skin Absorption - drug effects
Abstract
Percutaneous Penetration Enhancers in a mini-series format comprising five volumes, represents the most comprehensive reference on enhancement methods--both well established and recently introduced--in the field of dermal/transdermal drug delivery. In detail the broad range of both chemical and physical methods used to enhance the skin delivery of drugs is described. All aspects of drug delivery and measurement of penetration are covered and the latest findings are provided on skin structure and function, mathematics in skin permeation and modern analytical techniques adapted to assess and measure penetration. In offering a detailed description of the methods currently in use for penetration enhancement, this book will be of value for researchers, pharmaceutical scientists, practitioners and also students.

Abstract
This text comprises of sixteen first-person narratives from some of the most influential women in psychiatry about why they went into the field, what they attribute to success, and how they overcame their challenges. The second part of this text analyzes the themes brought to light in the narrative and discusses strategies for success. Though several of the chapters target issues that women in academic psychiatry may not have a resource for, several of the chapters discuss challenges that both men and women face, including strategic actions and decisions and the time investment necessary for a successful career in academic psychiatry. The topics are relevant to medical professionals at every level of their career who are or work with women in the field. Women in Academic Psychiatry is a unique resource for the professional woman in psychiatry, psychology, medical school, for men who face particular career challenges in academic medicine or are cultivating young women who are eager to succeed.
