This pamphlet is a French translation of "Hernia Repair" pamphlet 0079. This pamphlet is about hernia surgeries. A hernia forms when an outer wall ruptures (breaks open) or tears, letting organs such as a loop of bowel or tissue fall through the opening. Different types of hernia surgery are described. An explanation of how your hernia is repaired is provided. Some after surgery topics include care of the incision, physical activity, controlling discomfort, and meals. A list of symptoms that need medical attention is given.
