Abstract
99mTc-sestamibi is a single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) radiotracer that was introduced into clinical routine for myocardial perfusion imaging more than two decades ago. Although today the main application of 99mTc-sestamibi SPECT remains the imaging of myocardial perfusion, it is also an accepted and well-proven imaging technique for a variety of oncologic and non-oncologic applications, including brain, breast, and thyroid cancer and thyroid and parathyroid adenoma. Its efficacy in a range of indications ensures that 99mTc-sestamibi SPECT will remain widely used despite the rapid diffusion of 18F-FDG PET. 99mTc-Sestamibi: Clinical Applications provides a detailed and informative overview of almost all the oncologic and non-oncologic applications of 99mTc-sestamibi SPECT, including several relatively rare indications. Different disease-related protocols for 99mTc-sestamibi SPECT are presented, and for each disease a comprehensive summary of the relevant pathology and epidemiology is provided. Throughout, there is a strong emphasis on the practical aspects of use of this popular tracer, including instructions for the preparation of several commercially available tracer kits. Clinical practitioners will find this book to be an invaluable guide to the application and benefits of 99mTc-sestamibi SPECT in both the inpatient and the outpatient setting.

Abstract
Biomedical Optics in Otorhinolaryngology: Head and Neck Surgery gives an overview of current technology in biomedical optics relevant to the field of Otorhinolaryngology and head and neck surgery. It provides a comprehensive source of knowledge for researchers and active clinicians seeking information on the principles and practical use of novel diagnostic and therapeutic technology. While most books focus exclusively on laser surgery, which has been largely unchanged for the past 15 years, optical diagnostics and head and neck PDT (photodynamic therapy) are usually entirely overlooked. This book contains a basic introduction into the physics of light and its propagation, lasers and low-coherent light sources, and photon-tissue interaction in relation to therapeutic and diagnostic use. The principles of various imaging techniques are also discussed (i.e. optical coherence tomography in its variations), as well as the principles and practice of lasers for surgical use on the therapeutic side.

Abstract
Divided into two parts, this book discusses various aspects of bone SPECT-CT of ankle and foot. The first part is dedicated to foot and ankle pathology and concisely presents those disorders most frequently detected with a bone scan. The authors also describe common pathologies that cannot be diagnosed with bone scans, such as Morton's neuroma, but which nuclear physicians need to recognize. Orthopedic surgeons' expectancies are highlighted and several bone scan studies of clinical interest are presented. The second part is devoted to anatomy: bones, articulations and all relevant anatomical structures that are necessary to interpret a bone scan of the ankle and foot are described by means of anatomical illustrations with captions. At the end of the last decade, hybrid scanners with the ability to acquire single-photon emission computed tomoscintigraphy (SPECT) and multislice CT data simultaneously were introduced, thus opening a wide range of perspectives for nuclear physicians. Like their radiologist colleagues in the early 1990s, nuclear physicians have discovered pathologies that they were unaware of and have visualized increased tracer uptakes that they were previously unable to detect. This book, written by nuclear physicians and orthopedic surgeons specialized in the foot and ankle, will increase understanding of this whole new semiology. The internationally recognized Terminologia Anatomica has been used for the nomenclature of anatomical structures.

Abstract
SPECT/CT cameras have considerably improved diagnostic accuracy in recent years. Such cameras allow direct correlation of anatomic and functional information, resulting in better localization and definition of scintigraphic findings. In addition to this anatomic referencing, CT coregistration provides superior quantification of radiotracer uptake based on the attenuation correction capabilities of CT. Useful applications of SPECT/CT have been identified not only in oncology but also in other specialties such as orthopedics and cardiology. This book covers the full spectrum of clinical applications of SPECT/CT in diagnosis and therapy planning of benign and malignant diseases. Abstract
This book serves as a casebook for clinical nuclear medicine neuroimaging. Clinical interpretation of nuclear medicine neuroimaging studies is often challenging, mainly due to the complexity of neuroanatomy and a lack of supportive reference books. This is an unmet need in many teaching hospitals. Utilizing a hands-on, case-based approach, this textbook guides readers through clinical nuclear medicine neuroimaging of major neurological diseases and conditions, including dementia, epilepsy, and brain death. Included here are basic guidelines and techniques for nuclear medicine neuroimaging practices, set alongside case examples that include standardized imaging display and detailed interpretation. Each chapter begins with examples of normal brain imaging as a reference point for the remainder of the chapter, which then presents detailed case examples of these diseases through various imaging techniques. Each of the cases highlights clinical and imaging key findings and precise impressions. This is an ideal guide for residents, fellows, and even practicing nuclear medicine physicians as a reference and teaching tool for neuroimaging in clinical nuclear medicine. It will be of significant value to residents, trainees, and young physicians in preparation for their in-service tests and board examinations.

Abstract
Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) is the principal x-ray technology used to diagnose osteoporosis in its early, asymptomatic stages, to assess treatment efficacy, and to guide treatment decisions. It remains the gold standard today. A DXA Primer for the Practicing Clinician: A Case-Based Manual for Understanding and Interpreting Bone Densitometry is based on actual clinical encounters and treatment dilemmas encountered by the authors. The content is derived from years of clinical practice and presentations given by the authors at regional and national conferences. It exemplifies not only the complete body of knowledge provided through these lectures but also the full range of previously undiscussed nuances of DXA interpretation. This practical, easy-to-read text captures many of the common challenges of DXA interpretation that clinicians often encounter. The central focus of the book is the presentation of what is normal and what is problematic when using DXA. It presents real-life case histories, their corresponding DXA images, the problems encountered and their solutions.

Abstract
This book reviews the available information on bacterial disinfection in endodontics, with emphasis on the chemical treatment of root canals based on current understanding of the process of irrigation. It describes recent advances in knowledge of the chemistry associated with irrigants and delivery systems, which is of vital importance given that chemical intervention is now considered one of the most important measures in eliminating planktonic microbes and biofilms from the infected tooth. Recommendations are made regarding concentrations, exposure times, and optimal sequences. Possible complications related to the use of the different solutions are highlighted, with guidance on response. In addition, clinical protocols are suggested on the basis of both clinical experience and the results of past and ongoing research. Throughout, a practical, clinically oriented approach is adopted that will assist the practitioner in ensuring successful endodontic treatment.

Abstract
This book, now in its second, completely revised and updated edition, offers a critical approach to the challenging interpretation of the latest research data obtained using functional neuroimaging in whiplash injury. Such a comprehensive guide to recent and current international research in the field is more necessary than ever, given that the confusion regarding the condition and the medicolegal discussions surrounding it have increased further despite the publication of much literature on the subject. In recent decades especially the functional imaging methods – such as single-photon emission tomography, positron emission tomography, functional MRI, and hybrid techniques have demonstrated a variety of significant brain alterations. Functional Neuroimaging in Whiplash Injury: New Approaches covers all aspects, including the imaging tools themselves, the various methods of image analysis, different atlas systems, and diagnostic and clinical aspects. The book will help physicians, patients and their relatives and friends, and others to understand this condition as a disease.

Abstract
Nuclear cardiology procedures have been a mainstay in non-invasive testing for the diagnosis and risk stratification of coronary artery disease for many years. Although a mature field with a multitude of clinical applications, the advances in agents and imaging procedures have been remarkable and important to document. Handbook of Nuclear Cardiology: Cardiac SPECT and Cardiac PET reviews the important indications for nuclear cardiology procedures, and provides a description of the procedures themselves, including both SPECT and the newer PET imaging protocols as well as key references. The book emphasizes how noninvasive testing results can be used clinically and the appropriateness of such techniques. The editors and their contributors present critical clinical information on cardiac SPECT and PET within a concise and logical structure, which will be vital for trainees, practicing physicians, nurses and technologists looking for a brief, up-to-date overview and reference volume for nuclear cardiology.
