Abstract
This text provides a person-centered approach to helping individuals with schizophrenia meet their personal goals. The approach is strongly influenced by the "e;recovery"e; model. This model emphasizes a respect for an individual's ability to participate in decision-making about their illness and an appreciation that people can achieve many of their personal goals even when their illness is only partially controlled. There is also an emphasis on the diversity of individuals with schizophrenia. That is, although many people with this illness are severely disabled with limitations in their abilities to work or to function socially, others manage to function at a high level with successful careers and rich social and family relationships. The book is organized into chapters that focus on common treatment situations including the acutely psychotic individual; the first episode of psychosis; the partial responder; the individual with schizophrenia and substance use problems as well as children and the elderly. Each of these situations presents itself with unique stages of treatment and emphasizes that each stage has unique challenges regarding evaluating an individual and his or her problems and selecting interventions. For each clinical situation, pharmacological as well as psychosocial approaches are described.

This book provides a comprehensive overview of the latest research in the role of non-neuronal cells - astrocytes, oligodendrocytes, endothelial cells, pericytes, microglia, and other immune cells in ischemic brain injury and long-term recovery. In these cases, neurodegeneration and brain repair are controlled in a sophisticated system, incorporating interactions between different cell types and cellular systems. Also explored are the therapeutic strategies that target non-neuronal responses after stroke and their translational potentials.

Abstract
The skin is the first line of defense against chemical warfare agents including nerve agents and toxic industrial chemicals, providing a possible barrier or delay to systemic distribution. However, some chemicals act directly on the skin including vesicants sulfur mustard and corrosive compounds such as strong acids or bases, and do not have to gain access to systemic circulation to cause extensive skin damage. Early and rapid skin decontamination is extremely important following exposure to chemical warfare agents and toxic industrial chemicals because it decreases serious skin damage to the patient and, potentially, their doctor. This multi-authored international text pulls together a century of decontamination research and helps the reader expedite solutions that will decrease morbidity and mortality. Complete with dozens of high quality photographs and illustrations, Skin Decontamination aids industrial hygiene, dermatology, occupational physicians and those involved in the public health arena.

Abstract
This book describes the various procedures, including surgery through the abdominal wall, through a transanal access or by the union of both, using an open, laparoscopic, or robotic approach. Worldwide pioneers for each technique are invited as authors and portray in step-by-step detail about each procedure. Of the 32 chapters, 23 are dedicated only for the surgical procedures. Each chapter is enriched by numerous figures, which complement the text, permitting the understanding of each surgical technique from its beginning until the last step. Eight additional chapters are dedicated to the clinical and anatomical aspects of rectal cancer. In the last decade there has been an impressive evolution in the treatment of patients with rectal cancer, with a focus not only on the preservation of a cancer-free life, but the quality of that life. This book has been written to be useful for everyone involved in rectal cancer management. From internists, gastroenterologists, endoscopists, oncologists, radiotherapists and radiologists involved in the treatment of rectal cancer during their daily practice, to surgeons specialized in colorectal surgery, to junior faculty to trainees, all interested in new and innovative techniques.
