Abstract
Peripheral nerve analysis is a challenging task for pathologists, given the advent of new diagnoses and techniques of analysis and the impact of molecular genetics. This book presents a simple, logical method for constructing a differential diagnosis based on pathology and clinical presentation. It also provides advice on the selection of ancillary molecular, immunohistochemical and genetic techniques to establish a definitive diagnosis. Clear, authoritative guidance is offered on diagnosis of the full range of neuropathies with the aid of a wealth of high-quality color photomicrographs and electron micrographs. The pathologist will benefit greatly from the identification of a variety of artifacts and normal structures occasionally encountered in nerve biopsies that need to be distinguished from specific pathologic alterations.
Contents
1. Peripheral Neuropathy and the Role of Nerve Biopsy -- 2. Normal Anatomy of the Peripheral (Sural) Nerve -- 3. Quantitative Techniques -- 4. Abstract
In response to the complexity involved in treating leukemia during pregnancy, and the need to find the most efficient treatment possible without harming the fetus, this book offers essential guidelines for institutions and practitioners alike. Pursuing a comprehensive approach, the book addresses a broad range of subjects, including: pregnancy and its characteristics; staging, pathology, morbidity and what to expect in each type of leukemia; chemotherapy for leukemia in pregnant women with complete trials; dose adjustment of chemotherapy for leukemia in pregnancy based on serum dosages; and pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics for this unique group of patients. In turn, subsequent chapters focus on protecting the fetus and neonatal management regarding chemotherapy for leukemia in pregnancy, including the treatment and risks for the fetus (for each type of leukemia), intrathecal therapy and its effects on the fetus; supportive drugs, antibiotics and antifungals for pregnant patients during chemotherapy, including intervention and dose adjustments; palliative care for women with leukemia in pregnancy; breastfeeding during treatment for leukemia; pharmacological aspects of supplements, vitamins and nutrition in pregnancy during leukemia treatment; and more. Combining contributions from highly qualified hematology professionals, who have pooled their knowledge to address the treatment of virtually every aspect of leukemia in pregnancy, the book is aimed at a complete pharmacological treatment, including guidelines and trials. It is a must-have not only for institutions providing care for hematology patients, but also for residency programs, research institutions, and professionals in areas that involve leukemia treatment for pregnant women — e.g. hematology, neonatology, obstetrics clinics, intensive medicine and critical care units.
Contents

It is the first volume to focus on chemotherapy in newborns and infants, especially the daily clinical practice and treatment protocols. Intended as a practical manual, it addresses all the major topics related to pediatric oncology in an accessible and easy-to-use format. It examines topics in pediatric oncology therapeutics, including drug metabolism, excretion, toxicity, drugs that can be used for each week or month of the patient's life, dose adjustment and treatment protocols. Chemotherapy in Neonates and Infants focuses on the safe treatment of children in the first year of life, and is aimed at pediatric oncology/hematology institutions, clinics and departments. It is particularly valuable for researchers, pediatric oncology physicians, pediatric and neonatology physicians, oncology pharmacists and the other healthcare professionals directly involved in the chemotherapy of neonates and infants.

Abstract
This book presents a concise, evidence-based review of extracorporeal life support (ECLS) for adult diseases. It describes the use of ECLS with patients who are experiencing severe hypoxemic respiratory failure (ARDS and pneumonia), ventilatory failure (status asthmaticus and COPD), cardiogenic shock, and circulatory or gas exchange failure following complications in cardiothoracic surgery, as well as its use as a bridge to lung transplant. Historically, clinicians have used ECLS as a last resort; however, this text details the technological improvements, evidence of improved outcomes, and adverse consequences of alternative treatments that are causing this modality to be more commonly adopted. Topics include a description of the complex physiology and technology underlying ECLS; the evidence base for its use in specific clinical conditions; vascular access techniques; daily management of the circuit and patient; guidance regarding the weaning and decannulation process; and recommendations for crisis management and rehabilitation related to ECLS. Extracorporeal Life Support for Adults is ideal reading for practicing physicians, nurses, perfusion specialists, therapists, and critical care trainees who are considering whether to refer their patients for ECLS or are already providing ECLS and are seeking a practical reference to best practices and updated information.

Abstract
This book provides surgeons with important insights into laser technologies as well as a sound understanding of their current and potential applications within oral and maxillofacial surgery and related disciplines. The opening chapters focus on the relevant physical background, the technology of the typically used lasers, laser–tissue interactions, and the treatment systems. Detailed information is then provided on the various established applications of laser treatments, including in relation to skin and mucosa and the dental hard tissues and bone. Special applications are also described, for example with respect to periodontal surgery, peri-implantitis therapy, photodynamic treatment, holography and additive manufacturing. The book closes by examining technologies that will soon be available for application in hospitals, topics which are currently the subject of research, and laser safety. Beyond surgeons, the book will be of value for engineers and scientists working in the field of medical engineering using lasers.

Abstract
This unique book is the first on pediatric hematopoietic stem cell transplantation that is especially intended for pharmacists – in recognition of the fact that Pediatric Oncology Pharmacy is an area where more and more specific knowledge is required in daily practice, yet pharmacists who work in pediatric stem cell transplantation do not have a book addressing their specific needs. This pioneering book will likely become the new gold standard for practice, addressing subjects such as stem cells and their differentiation mechanisms; aspects of embryonic and non-embryonic stem cells; stem cell transplantation in pediatrics; stem cell sources and related technical choices; stem cell donors; scheduling transplantations; diseases and chemotherapy protocols that require stem cell transplantation; stem cell homing; engraftment and repopulation of stem cells in bone marrow; autologous stem cell transplantation in pediatrics; allogeneic stem cell transplantation in pediatrics; and indications for autologous and allogeneic pediatric stem cell transplantation. Further, it discusses pediatric graft-versus-host disease and the pharmacist; antibacterial and antifungal prophylaxis; detailed chemotherapy, conditioning and trials for pediatric stem cell transplantation; conditioning granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) in pediatric stem cell transplantation; analyzing prescriptions and programming a pediatric stem cell transplantation; handling chemotherapy and adjuvant drugs for pediatric stem cell transplantation; stem cell transplantation in children up to 1 year old; and clinical pharmacy in pediatric stem cell transplantation. An easy-to-read yet comprehensive guide covering a wide range of topics essential to daily practice, the book offers an invaluable asset for pediatric hemato/ oncology pharmacists, hematologist pharmacists, clinical pharmacists, pediatric pharmacists, pharmaceutical residents and researchers alike.
