It also explains how long you can expect to be on PN, when you can go home from the hospital, emotions, how home PN will affect your lifestyle, possible complications, and how to teach your back-up person how to do home PN. Supplies (getting them, storing, and disposal), handwashing, choosing and cleaning a work area, and how to add to your solution (multi-vitamins, vitamin K, insulin) are covered. Overnight infusion of PN and lipids, programming your pump for PN and lipids, morning routine, and caring for your Hickman/central line are explained. Common questions about PN tubing and solutions, Hickman/central lines, and how to check for complications are also listed.

Other information includes personal belongings and valuables, parking, visitors, phone and TV services, and where your support person(s) can stay while you are in hospital. Sharing information with your support person(s) is also reviewed.
