Abstract
This book provides novel arthroscopy techniques and applications to clinical practitioners, including sports medicine therapeutics, orthopaedic surgeons, specialist training candidates, rehabilitation clinicians. Small incisions per minimally invasive surgery using a camera mounted on a thin tube to visualize, repair and reconstruct joint-associated structures are accepted and welcomed by the sports medicine field. Arthroscopy technique as a minimally invasive surgical method, in Orthopeadics is not only for the treatment of intra-articular diseases but also an advanced conception for treatment of extra-articular diseases and peri-articular fractures. After performing years of arthroscopy, authors intend to provide an elite technique demonstration of each procedure, including indications, technique, complications, and results. There are three main parts of the book, including the extra-articular application of arthroscopy techniques, arthroscopic minimally invasive techniques for the treatment of intra-articular fractures, and Innovative technology for repair and reconstruction of bone and joint injuries. Key technical points and experience of arthroscopic repair of joint injuries, dislocation of joints, fixation of the intra-articular fractures, ligament release for limbs are illustrated. Special situations such as congenital torticollis, deltoid contracture, gluteal muscle contracture, bone grafting, removal of locking plate and screw and benign tumors treatment are also included.

Abstract
This book provides detailed descriptions of fundamental techniques that may be employed for extremity reconstruction and distraction osteogenesis in accordance with the principles established by Gavriil Abramovich Ilizarov. Techniques of proven value for deformity correction, limb lengthening, reconstruction of post-traumatic and post-osteomyelitis bone defects, non-union surgery, and fracture fixation with external fixators are thoroughly described step by step with the aid of a wealth of illustrative material. In addition, indications and preoperative planning are clearly explained. Throughout, care is taken to highlight important technical tips and tricks as well as clinical pearls and pitfalls. Since the first description of distraction osteogenesis by Ilizarov in the 1950s, numerous technical improvements have been made and new devices, developed, even though the basic principles have remained the same. This new book will be of value for both novice and more experienced surgeons who use distraction osteogenesis for the purpose of extremity reconstruction.

Abstract
Treatment by means of dental implants has become increasingly common, but it is now recognized that cementation during the restorative phase can be the source of significant problems. Nevertheless, few dentists have a clear understanding of why related disease processes arise and there is a similar lack of awareness of the factors to be considered in cement selection, which all too often appears essentially arbitrary. This book examines in detail the issues associated with cementation in dental implantology, with a particular focus on residual excess cement and its consequences. It provides reliable guidance on cement selection and use on the basis of the latest scientific research. Among the topics addressed are microbial aspects of cement selection, new abutment designs, aesthetic considerations, margin placement, and the role of radiography. The relation of peri-implant disease to residual excess cement is explored in depth, and alternatives to the cementation process are also considered. All of the chapters have been written by leading experts in restorative and surgical dental implantology. The information supplied isádesigned to change the way in which the dentist thinks and practices by replacing assumptions and reliance on anecdotes with evidence-based knowledge.

Abstract
This book addresses conventional and minimally invasive surgery of the cervical spine to cater for both experts and young surgeons with less experience in this field of surgery. It is written by a group of highly trained specialists from all over the world, who present the requirements for the most advanced surgical techniques on the cervical spine. Most of the chapters concern the osteodiscoarthrosic pathology, the main condition responsible for chronic cervical and/or radicular pain. Step by step presentations of the most advanced MISS (endoscopy) and standard procedures such as ACDF (anterior cervical decompression and fusion), using cages or autologous bone, posterior approach to axis instability, minimally invasive stabilization systems, and cervical disc arthroplasty are examined for the treatment of the osteodiscoarthrosis. Looking towards the future, this book also includes chapters about the role of materials in cervical spine fusion and biomechanical engineering evaluation in cervical tribology. Considering the growing incidence of cervical spine discoarthrosis, the authors aim to provide an expert overview of cervical spine surgery to assist the medical community with treating this increasingly common pathology.

Abstract
Biomechanics is often overlooked when dealing with orthopedic injuries, whether regarding prevention or treatment, and practicing surgeons and surgeons-in-training may feel overwhelmed when referring to a book with a more complicated basic science approach. In order to make the subject clinically relevant to orthopedic trauma surgery, this unique text presents numerous clinical case examples to demonstrate clearly and effectively the principles biomechanics of injury, fixation and fracture healing. Divided into five sections, the opening chapters cover the essentials of stress and strain relevant to bone and joints and how this relates to fractures and their healing, complete with illustrative case material. This case-based approach is carried throughout the book, with part two discussing biomechanical principles of external fixation for diaphyseal and periarticular fractures, limb lengthening and deformity correction. Tension band wiring for both olecranon and patella fractures are covered in part three, and both locking and nonlocking plates are illustrated in part four. The final section describes biomechanical principles of intramedullary nails for a variety of fractures and nonunions, as well as arthrodesis and lengthening. Generous radiological images and intraoperative photos provide a helpful visual enhancement for the clinical material. Making the sometimes esoteric topic of biomechanics more clinically relevant to the practicing clinician, Essential Biomechanics for Orthopedic Trauma will be an excellent resource not only for orthopedic surgeons, sports medicine specialists and trauma surgeons, but also medical and biomedical engineering students and residents.

Abstract
This unique text fills a major gap in the emergency services literature by surveying the research on fire and rescue service management in the UK. An extensive evidence base focuses on organizational culture, leadership skills, standards, and accountability, emphasizing the services' dual roles as first responders and guardians of public safety and prevention. The implications for international public health and safety programs are made clear as the services' recent history illustrates the complex challenges typical of functioning within local and national political contexts. Chapters take on a broad range of management, leadership, service delivery, and staffing concerns, including: Evolution and adaptation of fire and rescue services during periods of expansion and austerity; Civil protection as a local and national priority; Structural issues: assessments and improvements, collaborations with other services; Emerging social concerns: diversity, gender equality, the aging worker population; The concepts and consequences of heroes and heroism; Future directions for governance, transparency, and accountability. Fire and Rescue Services complements the earlier volumes in the Leadership & Management of Emergency Services series with equal parts realism and vision. Abstract
Contemporary spinal surgeons, whether orthopedic or neurosurgeons, are increasingly recognizing minimally invasive spine surgery (MISS) as a valuable option for managing advanced degenerative diseases. MISS techniques minimize blood loss and surgical site pain, while speeding recovery. Thus, the combination of MISS with adult spinal deformity was a natural choice. Currently, the techniques, technologies, and education of surgeons have finally reached a point where MISS deformity surgeries are becoming commonplace. Nevertheless, the field is young enough (and still evolving) that no comprehensive texts have addressed the unique challenges it poses for surgeons. This book fills that gap.

Abstract
Over the past decade, minimally invasive techniques have developed rapidly and are widely applied in the management of spine disorders. With the development of enabling technologies, including specifically designed spinal retractor systems, intra-operative imaging and navigation technologies, and real-time neural monitoring, minimally invasive spine surgery (MISS) techniques are safe, effective and reproducible. Indeed, studies have confirmed the clinical and economic advantages of these procedures. Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery includes detailed discussions of enabling technologies, surgical techniques (including posterior decompression and fusion), approaches to specific diseases and conditions, as well as strategies to manage the unique risks and complications of MISS. Generously illustrated, this will be an essential reference for orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons and all health care professionals who treat the spine.

Minimally Invasive Surgery for Achilles Tendon Disorders in Clinical Practice is a collection of procedures presented by experts and pioneers in foot and ankle surgery who share an interest in developing less invasive methods of treating disorders of the foot and ankle. The rate of complications of traditional surgery is extremely high: in the management of tendinopathy, traditional techniques result in 10% of patients experiencing a complication related to skin healing. It is therefore not surprising that less invasive techniques have been advocated. This book will serve as an excellent pocket reference when repairing disorders of the Achilles and aimed general orthopedic surgeons and specialist who require a useful easy reference for these procedures.

Abstract
This book presents an updated perspective on spinal implants currently used in thoraco-lumbar spine surgery, leading to a rigid or dynamic spine fusion. The development of new surgical devices and techniques is mostly focused on a spinal fusion for lumbar instability due to trauma, tumours or degenerative or infectious diseases. Pedicle-screw fixation and fusion are currently considered to be the gold standard for most of the above-mentioned pathologies, and modern implants are designed to improve the accuracy of pedicle-screw placement and to allow the use of new surgical techniques and minimally invasive approaches. The content is relevant for surgeons, orthopaedic specialists, neurosurgeons, physiotherapists and osteopaths.

Abstract
Operative Dictations in Orthopedic Surgery is a valuable resource for teaching orthopedic surgical trainees and practicing orthopedic surgeons how to document their operative procedures. The book includes the majority of the commonly performed orthopedic procedures. For each procedure, a list of common indications is given, covering 95% of the situations in which particular procedures will be used, as well as a list of essential steps. This is then followed by a list intended to prompt the surgeon for particular details to note and dictate within the template, a list of possible complications that are typically associated with a particular surgical procedure, and templates of operative dictation that allow the surgeon to individualize their dictations. Ample space is also provided to allow each surgeon to add notes. Concise and easy to use, Operative Dictations in Orthopedic Surgery is a unique tool for orthopedics surgical residents and residents in practice that better prepares them to participate actively and learn as much as possible in the operating room.
