The method of Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is popularly applied to enlarge the papillary orifice for removal of biliary and pancreatic stones, to relieve obstruction of distal bile duct or pancreatic duct by nasobiliary / nasopancreatic drainage or stenting, and to remove the premalignant tumor of papilla in recent four decades. The diagnostic role of ERCP is already replaced by the noninvasive images such as abdominal sonography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) and endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS). This book will be contributed by the senior members of the Digestive Endoscopy Society of Taiwan (DEST) who are the leading ERCPists of the medical centers and teaching hospitals in Taiwan. There are 21 chapters, including the various techniques of therapeutic ERCP and EUS, how to approach the difficult cases and prevent complications. Recently, many new facilities and techniques develop to solve the difficult problems, but those new methods may have potential hazard to the patients, particularly in the inexperienced hands. We will share our clinical experience and comments on the recent literatures, to illustrate the standard operative procedures of biliopancreatic endoscopy, and focus on the patients' safety as well as efficacy. We hope this book will be helpful for the readers in clinical application and facilitate the junior doctors to choose the cost-effective and safe procedure to help their patients in the future.

It begins with a historical perspective on surgical techniques for laparoscopic common bile duct exploration (LCBDE) and reviews the knowledge and experience gained during the "open" era. Subsequent chapters cover preoperative evaluation, decision-making, and operative management, including intraoperative cholangiography, intraoperative ultrasound, laparoscopic and open common bile duct exploration, laparoscopic placement of biliary stents and other adjuncts, and laparoscopic bilio-enteric bypass. The volume also provides the reader with material on the full spectrum of options including chapters on endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography and percutaneous approaches to the biliary tree. The chapters on individual procedures emphasize the technical aspects of the procedures, and include rich visual resources to guide the reader (illustrations, photographs, and videos to demonstrate typical cases and also challenging cases), as well as their outcomes and complication management. - This manual explains how to make the right decisions on the timing and selection of investigations and surgical procedures in emergency and urgent surgical settings and describes the most widely used procedures step by step with the aid of high-quality illustrations. The goal is to address the situations that can arise in almost any emergency department throughout the world, enabling the surgeon on call to acquire or sharpen the knowledge and skills needed to deal with acute surgical problems in the most appropriate way. The reader will gain a sound understanding of the most efficient diagnostic modalities, pre-, intra-, and postoperative decision-making, and surgical techniques and issues in particular circumstances. The manual stems from an initiative by members of the European Society of Trauma and Emergency Surgery (ESTES) and the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma (AAST) to set up and formalize Emergency Surgery Courses to provide specific training in emergency and acute care surgery. - This book is devoted to all the aspects of pediatric minimally invasive surgery and is written under the patronage of the European Society of Pediatric Endoscopic Surgery (ESPES) with the participation of leading international experts on Pediatric MIS. Comprising more than 50 chapters, the book begins with an introductory section describing the general and technical aspects of MIS approaches including laparoscopy, thoracoscopy, retroperitoneoscopy and robotic surgery. The main part of the book is divided into five subsections, each of which focuses on a specific system. thorax, abdomen, urology, gynecology and varia. For each subsection, the book examines several pathologies, accurately describing their clinical and diagnostic aspects and providing detailed information on the operative techniques, tips and tricks used in their treatment. Further, the book addresses potential complications in MIS and better ways to manage and prevent them. The volume will be of interest for pediatric surgeons, pediatric urologists or other professionals that need to access accurate descriptions of the MIS approaches adopted for the different surgical pathologies. At the same time, it addresses the needs of novices, including trainees, looking for general information on the management of the various diseases encountered in the pediatric population.
