Abstract
This first-of-its-kind text provides a comprehensive presentation and review of the unique aspects of adaptive sports medicine and adaptive athletes, who are increasingly active and prominent, not only individually and in local leagues and organizations but also in larger settings like the Paralympics. Divided into thematic sections, part one covers the history and natural course of the care, policies and laws that have been developed over the years for persons with disabilities, as well as the biomechanics and technology of wheelchair sports and adaptive sports prostheses. The medical considerations of the adaptive athlete comprise part two, including injury epidemiology, emergent care, and surgical and rehabilitative considerations. Part three, by far the most extensive section, discusses specific wheelchair and adaptive sports, including adaptive running, cycling, water sports and throwing sports, wheelchair basketball, softball and rugby, as well as adaptive combative and extreme sports. Selected topics, including event planning, advocacy and controversies such as doping, are covered in part four. A comprehensive yet practical text, Adaptive Sports Medicine is a go-to resource and will be an invaluable reference for any sports medicine or primary medicine practitioner working with this unique population.

Abstract
The book provides the first state-of-the-art overview of Alice in Wonderland syndrome, an enigmatic neurological condition characterized by a range of perceptual distortions (for example, seeing things as being larger or smaller than they actually are; seeing human faces change into animal faces; feeling one’s body growing larger or smaller; experiencing time as slowing down or speeding up, etc.). It describes the clinical presentation of the syndrome, including its huge variety of symptoms and the variability of its natural course. The book starts out with several vivid vignettes, and then explains how and why the concept was introduced. In addition, it explains what is currently known about the underlying medical conditions and brain mechanisms, proposes a diagnostic algorithm, and makes recommendations for treatment. Throughout the book, a recurring question is whether or not Charles Dodgson (aka Lewis Carroll) suffered from the symptoms he described so aptly in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Accordingly, it should appeal to anyone interested in the brain and its disorders, as well as readers interested in the life of Lewis Carroll.

Abstract
Covering various difficult surgeries encountered in daily gynecological practice and providing unique insights into operative gynecology, this atlas offers an essential learning guide for gynecologists. Standard gynecological surgeries may turn out to be extremely complex on the operating table this atlas demonstrates how the operating gynecologist can manage such procedures successfully without causing any injuries. For each surgery, it includes a series of color photographs accompanied by descriptive step by step notes, explaining to the readers the surgical steps and the problems that might occur if the dissection is not performed correctly. Helping readers understand and visualize the textbook descriptions of gynecological surgeries, the atlas offers a valuable resource for postgraduate students and fellows of obstetrics and gynecology, as well as senior practicing gynecologists, urologists and surgeons.

Abstract
This text provides a background of scientific evidence to understand the complications that occur after bariatric surgery for all providers responsible for care after surgical intervention. Written by experts and based on current peer reviewed literature, the text provides a focused approach to the identification and treatment of bariatric surgery complications. To establish a context for providers, the initial section concentrates on presenting the current procedures as well as risks and expected benefits of each with an emphasis on mechanism of action. It examines the issue of weight regain from the aspect of heterogeneity in order to present the perspective that every procedure has risk of weight regain. The text provides guidance to those front line providers who manage acute emergencies and chronic long term problems. State of the art management of complications like leaks, bleeding, ulcers, blood clots and pneumonia are discussed for all procedures in addition to the management of rapid remission of obesity related disease like Type 2 Diabetes and coagulopathies (Leiden Factor V, Protein C and S) that occur commonly in patients with obesity. Each chapter features a review of the current literature in an easy to reference table format and where appropriate an algorithm to focus the reader on the process of care for any given presenting sign or symptom. Bariatric Surgery Complications will be of great value to fellows in minimally invasive surgery, general surgeons, emergency room physicians, gastroenterologists, primary care physicians, medical students and residents in surgery rotations, integrated health personnel.

Abstract
This book is a single compact reference that describes a wide variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures performed by cardiologists. The focus is on the clinical application of these procedures with descriptions of their technical aspects, as well as contraindications and potential complications. How to interpret data generated during these procedures is discussed and this book includes case presentations to illustrate how these techniques are utilized in clinical practice. Cardiology Procedures: A Clinical Primer contains the distilled information and data important to the clinician or trainee who involved in the clinical care of cardiac patients. Comprising didactic material designed to help in learning the diagnostic and therapeutic cardiology procedures performed in clinical practice, it will also be useful for trainees and practitioners in related disciplines.

Abstract
With cases reflecting the classic presentation format of each disease process, this book prepares students for patient encounters during their oral and maxillofacial surgery rotations. It also helps residents learn and review "high yield" material that is commonly found in oral and maxillofacial training and on board examinations. It highlights clinical information that is commonly asked during rounds, in the operating room, and during examinations. For each case, it includes an overview of the most common clinical presentation, physical exam findings, diagnostic tools, complications, treatment, and a discussion of any controversial issues that may surround the case. The authors describe this book as "A little reach for the dental student, right on target for the OMS resident, and a strong refresher for OMS board certification." Case-based format prepares students and residents to pass the OMSSAT, with the Table of Contents corresponding to the exam's categories and questions.95 clinical cases focus on essential information regarding each disease process. Detailed illustrations -- including radiographs and clinical photographs or drawings -- provide a visual guide to conditions, techniques, diagnoses, and key concepts. Complements other Elsevier books such as Peterson: Contemporary Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Fonseca: Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and Ward Booth: Maxillofacial Surgery.

Abstract
This book serves as a reference manual for all cardiologists, particularly those in training, who face life-threatening complications of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) on a day-to-day basis. From its initial conception, PCI has evolved to become a very complex procedure. Knowledge of what complications can occur during PCI and how to deal with them is vital for the practicing cardiologist, and can mean the difference between life and death. Drawing on the background and experience of an international team of cardiologists, Complications of Percutaneous Coronary Intervention: The Survival Handbook is a valuable, practical, and readable resource for the interventional cardiologist. The principles and practices described within are relevant to all practitioners of interventional catheter procedures, including interventional radiologists, vascular surgeons, and cardiologists.

Abstract
This text addresses the need for a book specifically aimed at obstetric anesthesia and covers topics such as pulmonary, cardiac renal, hepatic, hematologic, neurologic, endocrine and other diseases. The real anesthetic challenge arises when patients present to Labor and Delivery with unusual or complicated medical problems and, in recent years, a few of the larger institutions have developed an Obstetric Anesthesiology Consultation Service to prepare for the management of these patients. While most pregnant women who present to Labor and Delivery require anesthetic intervention, they typically meet the anesthesiologist for the first time in labor. Since the majority of laboring women are healthy without significant comorbidities, this does not present much of a challenge to the anesthesiologist and the anesthetic management tends to be straight-forward with favorable outcomes. However, using this new model, the anesthesiologist has the opportunity to discuss the various treatment modalities and potentially suggest diagnostic testing to be performed prior to delivery, similar to the pre-operative testing that is done in other surgical environments.
