Abstract
This book describes the fundamentals of three-dimensional (3D) printing, addresses the practical aspects of establishing a 3D printing service in a medical facility, and explains the enormous potential value of rendering images as 3D printed models capable of providing tactile feedback and tangible information on both anatomic and pathologic states. Individual chapters also focus on selected areas of applications for 3D printing, including musculoskeletal, craniomaxillofacial, cardiovascular, and neurosurgery applications. Challenges and opportunities related to training, materials and equipment, and guidelines are addressed, and the overall costs of a 3D printing lab and the balancing of these costs against clinical benefits are discussed. Radiologists, surgeons, and other physicians will find this book to be a rich source of information on the practicalities and expanding medical applications of 3D printing.

Abstract
Spanning both the history and future of knee replacement, this unique book recounts how artificial knees have reached the stage they are today, and whether their performance can be further improved. The author, who has been designing artificial knees for 50 years, starts the story in the late 1960’s with the early pioneers; during the 1970’s, the principles for successful artificial knees were established. While many different types were designed, a small number have become by far the most widely utilized. Yet other types of designs, so far little used, along with new materials and the application of computer-assisted surgery, could result in significant advancements in the treatment of knee arthritis. Each chapter provides a detailed description of the origins of the ideas and principles and their rationale, followed by the latest information and evidence. The book begins with an overview of the history and background of the artificial knee, in terms of design and implementation and the thought leaders involved. Fixation, biomechanics, and the types of designs are discussed in detail, both what has worked and what has not, and why. Instrumentation, testing and tribology, and functional evaluation methods are also covered. The book concludes with a look toward the future possibilities for the field of artificial knees. An illustrated glossary of terms, is included for quick reference. The Artificial Knee: An Ongoing Evolution will appeal to orthopedic surgeons and researchers, medical academics and orthopedic companies, and to those with a general interest in artificial knees.
Contents
Introduction -- Early Biomechanical Knowledge -- The Design Process -- Laxity and Stability -- Fixation Using Acrylic Cement -- Uncemented Fixation -- Femoral Components and Patella -- Tibial Components -- Condylar Replacements -- Posterior Stabilized -- Guided Motion Knees -- Instrumentation and Technique -- Testing and Tribology -- Comparisons of Function between Designs and Techniques -- Discussion and Future Possibilities -- Glossary of Terms.

Abstract
This book focuses on hydraulic calcium silicate-based materials available in clinical dentistry, used as pulp capping materials, root canal sealers, root-end fillers, or root repair materials and which offer improved properties and easier clinical application compared with the original mineral trioxide aggregate. The book introduces the current classification of bioceramic materials and explains their characterization and their physicochemical and biological properties. Thereafter, the various clinical applications of these materials are discussed in depth with reference to the evidence base. The coverage includes applications in endodontic treatments and complications, traumatic dental injuries, management of the vital pulp in both dentitions, and regenerative endodontic procedures. Apart from presenting the latest research on hydraulic calcium silicate-based materials, Bioceramic Materials in Clinical Endodontics promotes an essential balance between basic laboratory and clinical research. It will thus be an important reference for materials science specialists, clinical researchers, and clinicians.
Contents
Current Classification of Bioceramic Materials in Endodontics -- Characterization and Properties of Bioceramic Materials for Endodontics -- Bioceramic Materials for Vital Pulp Therapy -- Bioceramic Materials in Regenerative Endodontics -- Bioceramic Materials for Root Canal Obturation -- Bioceramic Materials for Management of Endodontic Complications -- Bioceramic Materials in Pediatric Dentistry.

Abstract
This Open Access textbook provides students and researchers in the life sciences with essential practical information on how to quantitatively analyze data images. It refrains from focusing on theory, and instead uses practical examples and step-by step protocols to familiarize readers with the most commonly used image processing and analysis platforms such as ImageJ, MatLab and Python. Besides gaining knowhow on algorithm usage, readers will learn how to create an analysis pipeline by scripting language. These skills are important in order to document reproducible image analysis workflows. The textbook is chiefly intended for advanced undergraduates in the life sciences and biomedicine without a theoretical background in data analysis, as well as for postdocs, staff scientists and faculty members who need to perform regular quantitative analyses of microscopy images.

Abstract
This book addresses the tough clinical issues faced by electrophysiologists and cardiologists who treat patients with Cardiac Implantable Electrical Devices (CIEDs) in real-world practice. With contributions from widely recognized international leaders in the field, this 10-chapter resource covers a variety of controversies with CIEDs, from discerning what device is appropriate to use for heart failure to ethical issues in their use at the end of a patient’s life. To supplement these discussions, chapters review opposing positions on both sides of a controversy and present clinical material to illustrate the different perspectives. Clinical Controversies in Device Therapy for Cardiac Arrhythmias is an essential resource not only for physicians, residents, and fellows in cardiac electrophysiology and cardiology but also for associated professionals including nurses and technicians who work with CIEDs.
