Abstract
During the past few years, cardiac CT (CCT) has acquired an increasingly important role as a noninvasive imaging method that allows assessment of coronary heart disease from both the morphological and the functional standpoint. It is quickly becoming a primary clinical tool for the evaluation and follow-up of various conditions related to the heart and great vessels and is providing valuable insights into the natural history of atherosclerosis. The rapid advances in CCT technology, the advent of new clinical applications, and the acquisition of data on prognostic value are just some of the reasons for the publication of this new edition of Clinical Applications of Cardiac CT, little more than 3 years after the first edition appeared. The text has been extensively revised and updated to reflect current knowledge and practice, and the structure and layout of the educational content have also been improved. The imaging targets, semeiology, technique, and clinical applications of CCT are all covered in detail, and in addition relevant information is provided on epidemiology, clinical assessment, and the role of other diagnostic modalities. This book will prove an invaluable tool for radiologists and cardiologists alike.

Abstract
This book provides a carefully selected compilation of challenging cases representative of the situations and pathologies likely to be encountered when performing cardiovascular imaging using CT. The conditions covered include coronary artery disease, anomalous coronary arteries, congenital heart disease, coronary artery bypass grafts, infectious diseases, structural heart disease, tumors, and aortic pathology. The book also provides brief insight into use of Cardiac CT geared towards the pre-procedural use in patients undergoing atrial fibrillation ablation, thoracic endovascular aortic repair, or transcatheter aortic valve replacement. In addition, scanning techniques for some of the more difficult cases that a cardiac imager may encounter in practice are reviewed. All images are high-resolution reproductions, and subsequent cardiac catheterization images are included for cases in which obstructive coronary artery disease was revealed. Clinical Pearls in Diagnostic Cardiac Computed Tomographic Angiography is specifically designed to meet the needs of residents, fellows, and physicians who have an interest in cardiovascular CT.
Contents
1. Introduction to Cardiac Computed Tomography -- 2. Artifacts -- 3. Cardiac CT in Adult Congenital Heart Disease -- 4. Coronary Artery Disease Evaluation Using Cardiac CTA -- 5. Utilization of CCTA for Structural Diseases -- 6. Procedural Complications -- 7. Cardiac Tumors -- 8. Vascular Angiography -- 9. Incidental Findings in Cardiac CTA.

Abstract
This book presents a thorough review of coronary angioscopy, ranging from instructions on its use to the latest advances. Starting with the structure and fundamental principles of angioscopy, it shows readers how to apply the image to comprehensive care of coronary-artery patients. Plentiful color photos and illustrations will enable readers to investigate and classify plaques and thrombi and to evaluate coronary stent- and drug-based therapies. The authors are leading researchers on angioscopy. This book offers the perfect guide not only for new clinicians but also for cardiologists who have already adopted this technique for medical examination and treatment. Angioscopy is a unique medical technique for visualizing the interior of blood vessels and helps physicians not only to diagnose the pathology but also to measure the effectiveness of Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) or antiarteriosclerotic drugs. Furthermore, the recently developed molecular angioscopy approach allows us to observe Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) oxide, collagen, and macrophages, and is rapidly growing in importance.
Contents
Part I. Coronary angioscopy overview -- 1. Structure and principle of angioscope -- 2. Role of multiple Imaging modalities to disclose the mechanism of ACS Üangioscopy in comparison to other imaging modalities including OCT, IVUS and CTA -- 3. Revised edition of: CT evaluation of coronary artery disease / Paolo Pavone, Massimo Fioranelli, David A. Dowe, c2009.
Abstract
Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in Western countries. In non-fatal cases, they are associated with a decreased quality of life as well as a substantial economic burden to society. Most sudden cardiac events are related to the complications of a non-stenosing marginal plaque. For this reason, the ability to properly identify the atherosclerotic plaque with rapid, non-invasive techniques is of utmost clinical interest in therapeutic planning. CT produces high-quality images of the coronary arteries, in addition to defining their location and the extent of the atherosclerotic involvement. Proper knowledge of the equipment, adequate preparation of the patient, and accurate evaluation of the images are essential to obtaining a consistent clinical diagnosis in every case. This new edition is enriched with dedicated chapters on intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), catheter angiography, and nuclear imaging, with limited discussions of theoretical techniques such as optical coherence tomography (OCT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Brief chapters will also be included that discuss percutaneous coronary artery procedures and coronary artery bypass surgery. Indications of when to use CCTA will be discussed, with comparison of these imaging techniques to each other. This volume provides general practitioners and cardiologists with a basic understanding of the imaging techniques. For radiologists with no direct experience in cardiac imaging, the book serves as an important source of information on coronary pathophysiology and anatomy.
Contents
Clinical anatomy of the coronary circulation -- Basic techniques in the acquisition of cardiac images with CT -- CT examination of the coronary arteries -- Image reconstruction -- Coronary pathophysiology -- Clinical classification of coronary artery disease : who should be treated? -- Intravascular ultrasound : from gray-scale to virtual histology -- Identification and characterization of the atherosclerotic plaque using coronary CT angiography -- Coronary CT angiography : evaluation of stenosis and occlusion -- Current strategies in cardiac surgery -- Coronary CT angiography : evaluation of coronary artery bypass grafts -- Coronary stents -- CT angiography of coronary stents -- X-ray exposure in coronary CT angiography -- Optical coherence tomography in the cathlab -- Triple rule out : the use of cardiac CT in the emergency room -- Contraindications to coronary CT angiography -- Prognostic value of coronary CT -- Clinical cases.
