Abstract
The first of its kind for budget-impact analysis, this comprehensive guide provides clear and concise instructions for evaluating the impact that new pharmaceuticals will have on the budget for a specific jurisdiction. The book demonstrates how to create a budget-impact analysis using a simple six-step process that is consistent with current guidelines for these analyses. Examples and exercises for each chapter afford an opportunity to practice the six-step process in practical applications. The book progresses from a framework for budget impact analyses to an in-depth review of components and how to develop and present these in software applications and reports. Critical considerations such as uncertainty analysis and validation, and considerations for alternate interventions, such as vaccines and diagnostics, are also covered. This book is a "must have" for the builder and budget holder, with builders benefiting from instructions to identify and estimate all necessary variables and budget holders receiving a guide to what should be included in the analyses they assess.
Contents

Abstract
This book provides an introduction to decision analytic cost-effectiveness modelling, giving the theoretical and practical knowledge required to design and implement analyses that meet the methodological standards of health technology assessment organisations. The book guides you through building a decision tree and Markov model and, importantly, shows how the results of cost-effectiveness analyses are interpreted. á Given the complex nature of cost-effectiveness modelling and the often unfamiliar language that runs alongside it, we wanted to make this book as accessible as possible whilst still providing a comprehensive, in-depth, practical guide that reflects the state of the art; that includes the most recent developments in cost-effectiveness modelling. Although the nature of cost effectiveness modelling means that some parts are inevitably quite technical, across the 13 chapters we have broken down explanations of theory and methods into bite-sized pieces that you can work through at your own pace; we have provided explanations of terms and methods as we use them. Importantly, the exercises and online workbooks allow you to test your skills and understanding as you go along.

Abstract
This book is open access under a CC BY 4.0 license. This book investigates what international placements of healthcare employees in low resource settings add to the UK workforce and the efficacy of the its national health system. The authors present empirical data collected from a volunteer deployment project in Uganda focused on reducing maternal and new-born mortality and discuss the learning and experiential outcomes for UK health care professionals acting as long term volunteers in low resource settings. They also develop a model for structured placement that offers optimal learning and experiential outcomes and minimizes risk, while shedding new light on the role that international placements play as part of continuing professional development both in the UK and in other sending countries.
Contents
1. International mobility and learning in the UK National Health Service -- 2. Internationalisation and placement activity in the UK National Health Service -- 3. What do health workers learn on international placements? -- 4. Managing costs and risks -- 5. Conclusions: Towards a model for sustainable professional volunteering -- Appendix 1. Data collection and methods -- Appendix 2. The Sustainable Volunteering Project -- Appendix 3. The MOVE survey.

Abstract
This book offers a comprehensive overview of performing return-on-investment (ROI) analyses for healthcare quality improvement (QI). In the United States, healthcare policy regarding physician and facility payment/reimbursement is steadily trending towards the use of “value-based” systems and away from the traditional “fee-for-service” (FFS) payment mechanisms. Healthcare professionals and organizations who have previously focused on quality metrics are now finding themselves burdened with having to define and assess value metrics, without much guidance or assistance. This volume aims to be a guide and a reference for healthcare professionals tasked with estimating and establishing ROI for QI. Chapters describe the general framework for how to perform QI; establish standard definitions of important terms, concepts, and calculations; and provide specific instructions for how to complete each step of an ROI analysis. These include: selecting a QI initiative and identifying the associated metrics, establishing measurable, monetizable, and attributable costs and benefits, determining the appropriate scope and perspective, calculating ROI and related metrics (payback period, benefit-to-cost ratio, etc.), comparing with established benchmarks or previously published results, and interpreting the results for the intended audience. In addition, chapters offer examples of real studies (or hypothetical studies of real situations), as well as templates for several of the necessary activities that readers can leverage for their own use. Return on Investment for Healthcare Quality Improvement is a must-have resource for healthcare providers, administrators, and other professionals who work in healthcare organizations, hospitals and other healthcare settings, health systems, and residency programs seeking to obtain outside funding, as well as policy makers and administrators of federal programs.
Contents
1. Introduction -- 2. Planning an ROI Analysis -- 3. Initial Steps -- 4. Costs and Benefits -- 5. Performing Base Case and Sensitivity Analyses -- 6. Interpretation and Presentation -- 7. Hypothetical Case Studies -- 8. Tips and Templates -- 9. Expanded Topics in ROI.
