Abstract
The diagnostic services—pathology and radiology—are the cornerstone for supporting the delivery of high-quality healthcare by providing timely and accurate diagnosis. In this era of precision medicine, it has become increasingly important for these two services to work collaboratively in supporting patients and clinical colleagues by informing and communicating the selection and interpretation of appropriate diagnostic tests, as well as obtaining adequate tissue for diagnosis, prognostication, and therapy at initial presentation and, if required, during disease progression/relapse. This book is aimed at practicing cytopathologists and interventional radiologists as well as trainees in these areas. An essential requirement in the accurate diagnosis of these mass lesion biopsies is the correlation of cytomorphology with the radiological findings and adequate triage of acquired material during the biopsy procedure. The cytologic findings, gross surgically resected specimens, and imaging findings are illustrated to provide a complete pathologic-radiologic correlation of the entities discussed. This Atlas of Cytopathology and Radiology serves as a useful guide for pathologists and radiologists in the appropriate triage and diagnosis of deep seated mass lesions biopsied under ultrasound, CT Scan or fluoroscopic guidance.

Abstract
The Essentials in Cytopathology book series fulfills the need for an easy-to-use and authoritative synopsis of site specific topics in cytopathology. These guide books fit into the lab coat pocket and are ideal for portability and quick reference. Each volume is heavily illustrated with a full color art program, while the text follows a user-friendly outline format. Cytopathology of Infectious Diseases is the first book of its kind to focus entirely on the cytopathology of infectious diseases. It contains all of the pertinent information about the cytology of infectious diseases and microorganisms and will serve as an ideal handy reference. This unique volume covers the cytomorphology of various microorganisms and the host reactions they elicit, and also incorporates an update on advances in the field. Newly recognized infections such as the recent discovery of the Merkel Cell Polyomavirus (MCV) are included, as well as the utility of new immunostains (e.g. CM2B4 for MCV) and the role of molecular techniques that assist in the identification, classification and even quantification of microorganisms. Each chapter is succinctly written and concisely referenced with key published articles and resources. The volume includes practical pointers, useful diagnostic criteria, differential diagnoses and potential pitfalls. Many color images of high resolution that illustrate microorganisms (e.g. branching hyphae) and host reactions (e.g. viral cytopathic effect) are included throughout. Relevant tables with diagrams that provide quick reference guides are incorporated.
Contents
Introduction -- Specimen Collection and Handling -- Host reactions to infection -- Microbiology -- Gynecological Infections -- Pulmonary Infections -- Gastrointestinal and Hepatobiliary Infections -- Urinary Tract Infections -- Central Nervous System Infections -- Hematologic Infections -- Breast, Skin, & Musculoskeletal Infections -- Head and Neck Infections -- Immunosuppressed Host -- Ancillary Investigations -- Mimics and Contaminants.

Abstract
This volume provides a practical yet comprehensive guide to manage the shift in the diagnosis of lung cancer from large resections to small samples, including cytology specimens and core biopsies. Specifically, it outlines various available minimally-invasive modalities and presents algorithms to optimize and maximize sample collection and processing beginning at the time of tissue acquisition during the procedure. Secondly, the book provides an overview of the various existing and emerging lung cancer therapies and why a specific diagnosis is crucial. Key elements for the classification of small biopsies and cytology proposed by the ATS, IASLC, and ERS are highlighted. A section dedicated to immunohistochemistry offers a logical, step-by-step guide to sub-classify lung cancers and to differentiate them from metastases. The text also provides a review of the various molecular tests (and alternatives in cases of scant tissue) required for lung adenocarcinomas. Finally, potential pitfalls to avoid during acquisition, processing, and classification are discussed. With contributions fromá a team of multidisciplinary authors who are regularly involved in the care of lung cancer patients , Diagnosing Non-small Cell Carcinoma in Small Biopsy and Cytology is an invaluable reference guide for pathologists, pathologists-in-training, and allied professionals, including oncologists, pulmonologists, surgeons, and radiologists.

Abstract
This book is the culmination of an international effort to bring consistency and diagnostic efficiency to effusion cytology for the sake of patient care. The authors recognize special challenges in serous fluid cytopathology, such as reporting the presence of Mullerian epithelium in peritoneal fluids. What is an appropriate serous fluid volume to ensure adequacy? How should mesothelial proliferations be reported and is it appropriate to make an interpretation of malignant mesothelioma? How specific should a report be regarding the origin and subtyping of tumors found in serous fluids? What are the appropriate quality monitors for this specimen type? Special chapters on considerations for peritoneal washings, cytopreparatory techniques, mesothelioma and quality management are included to address these issues. The text contains literature reviews that elucidate existing evidence in support of current practices and recommendations. Expert opinions on where evidence was lacking, the most common practices were adopted by consensus, and where there was no commonality, are employed. Written by experts in the field, The International System for Serous Fluid Cytopathology serves as a collaborative effort between the International Academy of Cytology and the American Society for Cytopathology and calls upon participation of the international cytopathology and oncology communities to contribute to the development of a truly international system for reporting serous fluid cytology.
Contents
The International System for Reporting Serous Fluid Cytopathology: Introduction and Overview of Diagnostic Terminology and Reporting -- Non-diagnostic (NDX) and Adequacy -- Negative for Malignancy (NFM) -- Atypia of Undetermined Significance -- Suspicious for Malignancy (SFM) -- Malignant-Primary (MAL-P) (Mesothelioma) -- Malignant-Secondary (MAL-S) -- Ancillary Studies for Serous Fluids -- Special Considerations for Peritoneal Washings -- Cytopreparatory Techniques -- Quality Management -- Serous Effusion Anatomy, Biology and Pathophysiology.

Abstract
This book focuses primarily on the most efficient way to make an accurate FNA diagnosis of metastatic tumors within the broad confines of cytopathology. The text provides a step-by-step "thought process" during the diagnostic approach of the metastatic tumors using detailed algorithms. Starting from the onsite immediate FNA sample assessment, the book provides strategy of specimen triage to facilitate further cytology evaluation based on the metastatic patterns and morphologic patterns of the tumors. In the subsequent chapter, the book provides tips and traps of selecting markers and interpretation of immunoperoxidase, flow cytometric, cytogenetic and molecular studies. The book includes the strategy of dealing with limited FNA material and wisely use existing samples (cell block, direct smear, cytospin) for different ancillary studies including molecular tests that have been used at MD Anderson. The author highlights challenging issues to show the importance of using a multidisciplinary (clinical, radiologic, cytologic and ancillary studies) approach. Extensive illustrations are provided. Metastatic Neoplasms in Fine-Needle Aspiration Cytology will provide pathology residents, fellows, practicing cytopathologists and cytotechnologists with a practical way to approach metastatic malignancies in daily cytology practice as well as provide a vision of the future of cytopathology.
