Abstract
This book offers an up-to-date overview of childbirth-related pelvic floor dysfunction covering prevention, diagnosis, and management. It encompasses all relevant conditions, with particular focus on genital prolapse, urinary incontinence, and fecal incontinence. Risk factors for pelvic floor damage related to childbirth are identified, and a 3D simulation of delivery is presented. The role of various diagnostic tools, including pelvic floor ultrasonography and magnetic resonance imaging and anal sphincter electromyography, is clearly described. The importance of physiotherapy in preventing future alterations is explained, and the indications for surgery, which is reserved for more severe situations, are discussed. The book highlights the need for a multidisciplinary approach involving obstetricians, gynecologists, urologists, midwives, radiologists, physiotherapists, muscle laboratory engineers, and computer technicians.

Abstract
This text addresses the need for a book specifically aimed at obstetric anesthesia and covers topics such as pulmonary, cardiac renal, hepatic, hematologic, neurologic, endocrine and other diseases. The real anesthetic challenge arises when patients present to Labor and Delivery with unusual or complicated medical problems and, in recent years, a few of the larger institutions have developed an Obstetric Anesthesiology Consultation Service to prepare for the management of these patients. While most pregnant women who present to Labor and Delivery require anesthetic intervention, they typically meet the anesthesiologist for the first time in labor. Since the majority of laboring women are healthy without significant comorbidities, this does not present much of a challenge to the anesthesiologist and the anesthetic management tends to be straight-forward with favorable outcomes. However, using this new model, the anesthesiologist has the opportunity to discuss the various treatment modalities and potentially suggest diagnostic testing to be performed prior to delivery, similar to the pre-operative testing that is done in other surgical environments.

Abstract
This book offers a highly informative guide to forceps devices and delivery techniques. Extensive figures and animations offer readers vivid insights into the fetus station, pelvis, and inserted forceps. The book covers normal presentation and abnormal rotation, presentation and attitudes, and especially focuses on the assessment of fetal descent. It discusses the problem with conventional fetal station, and explains the revised one based on the trapezoidal plane. Instrumental delivery is chosen in cases of worrisome fetal status, protracted labor, or maternal fatigue. Forceps can provides a greater pulling power than vacuum extraction, and the fetus can be delivered in a short time, though this technique calls for experience and technical proficiency. The book argues that in order to ensure safe and reliable forceps delivery, assessment of the fetal station and the site of the largest fetal head circumference is critical. The book offers a new and indispensable reference guide for all obstetricians, not only for residents, but also for all experienced professionals involved in the training of beginners, and even for those using vacuum extraction who would like to assess the fetus more objective and practically.

Abstract
This book details the prevention and management of perineal trauma during childbirth, which affects millions of women worldwide every year. A repair for such trauma is one of the commonest procedures undertaken in medicine, but this procedure is not without a number of issues. It is an area of clinical practice that falls between two subspecialties (maternal medicine and urogynecology), is assessed and repaired by two independent professions (obstetricians and midwives), and its complications are managed by a large multidisciplinary team. The book is also written and edited with all of these medical professions in mind. Perineal Trauma at Childbirth provides high-level evidence demonstrating that proper assessment and repair of perineal trauma can significantly improve outcomes for women, while reviewing the considerable benefits of trauma prevention to long-term outcomes, particularly for higher grades of perineal trauma. There are dedicated chapters on reducing the risk of perinea trauma, anal sphincter injuries, wound complications and postnatal urinary incontinence. The anatomy and physiology, clinical assessment, pelvic floor imaging, perineal mapping, methods and materials for repair and a framework for implementation of evidence into practice are also covered in depth.

Abstract
This splendid volume presents numerous aspects of preterm labor and delivery, from its fundamental mechanism to clinically focused approaches. The incidence of preterm delivery is 6-7% in Japan, while globally up to 10% of pregnancies with preterm labor result in premature delivery. The rates of overall survival and intact survival of the premature infants are also excellent in Japan. Thus Japan’s approach to preterm labor and delivery has long attracted attention. In each chapter, experts describe specific issues unique to conditions in Japan, including diagnosis, tocolytic agents, definition of clinical chorioamnionitis, treatment of bacterial vaginosis, role of amniocentesis, management of preterm premature membrane rupture and also placental pathology, presenting definitive evidence of the reduced incidence of preterm delivery in Japan. This book benefits not only obstetricians, pediatricians and gynecologist, but also midwives, nurse practitioners, and medical and associated staffs in the field of obstetrics, pediatrics, as well as neonatal and perinatal medicine who are involved in delivery.
