Abstract
This book will assist the reader by providing individually tailored, high-quality bio-psycho-social care to patients with a wide range of problems within the fields of obstetrics, gynecology, fertility, oncology, and sexology. Each chapter addresses a particular theme, issue, or situation in a problem-oriented and case-based manner that emphasizes the differences between routine and bio-psycho-social care. Relevant facts and figures are presented, advice is provided regarding the medical, psychological, and caring process, and contextual aspects are discussed. The book offers practical tips and actions within the bio-psycho-social approach, and highlights important do's and don'ts. To avoid a strict somatic thinking pattern, the importance of communication, multidisciplinary collaboration, and creation of a working alliance with the patient is emphasized. The book follows a consistent format, designed to meet the needs of challenged clinicians.

Abstract
Bladder Pain Syndrome: A Guide for Clinicians provides a comprehensive update in the pathophysiology, epidemiology, terminology, evaluation and treatment of patients with pelvic pain perceived to be related to the urinary bladder. The volume covers the tremendous evolution during the last decade in our understanding of pain syndromes and their diagnosis and treatment. It is now clear that Bladder Pain Syndrome belongs to the family of pain syndromes, and therefore treatment has moved from the treatment of the bladder to the treatment of a pain syndrome with the special problems this presents when the pain syndrome involves urinary symptoms. Interstitial Cystitis was poorly defined and the interpretation and patient selection differed enormously around the world in many ways, making exchange of information unreliable and confusing. Bladder Pain Syndrome is clearly defined and the result is a much better patient selection. This volume provides state of the art background for making a correct evaluation and diagnosis of patients with pelvic pain and voiding problems resulting in a more focused treatment to the benefit of the patients. The volume also covers the close relationship between different pain syndromes including those outside the pelvis.Bladder Pain Syndrome: A Guide for Clinicians will be of great utility to urologists, gynecologists and all health professionals dealing with patients with pelvic pain.

Abstract
Women in developing nations experience higher incidence rates and higher mortality rates of breast and gynecological cancers, creating a critical need for cancer control programs that can use available, often scant, resources to match the existing disease burden. This book promotes integrating screening and early detection of breast and gynecological cancers through cost effective modalities like single visit screening and diagnosis, well woman clinics, and mobile clinics. International experts in the field weigh in on tested and proven methods for screening, early diagnosis, and prevention of these cancers in both rural and urban settings with varying levels of funding. Case studies from Brazil, Peru, the Middle East and Africa are included to illustrate particular aspects of screening, treatment, and funding. Breast and Gynecological Cancers: An Integrated Approach for Screening and Early Diagnosis in Developing Countries is a crucial compendium of information for all those concerned with the wellness of women worldwide.
Contents
Burden of breast and gynecological cancers in low-resource communities -- Breast cancer: pathology, cytology, and core needle biopsy methods for diagnosis -- Gynecological cancers: pathology and cytological methods for diagnosis of gynecological cancers -- Screening and early diagnosis of breast cancer: proven methodology and an optimized strategy for developing countries -- HPV and cervical cancer -- Screening for cervical cancer in low-resource communities -- Ovarian cancer screening and early detection in low- and middle-income countries -- Endometrial cancer: risk factors and early diagnosis in low-resource countries -- Breast and gynecologic cancer prevention in low-resource countries -- Combined screening for breast and gynecological cancers using mobile clinics: the Barretos experience (Brazil) -- Cost effectiveness of screening for and early diagnosis of breast and gynecological cancers in low-income countries -- Challenges for breast and gynecological cancer control by early detection in less-developed countries -- Funding for global health care intervention: initiatives aimed at controlling cancer in women in low-resource countries -- Coordinated training on early detection and diagnosis of breast cancer across different levels of health workers: an example from Peru -- Telemedicine in cancer control programs in developing countries. Young women are a special subset of patients whose care requires dedicated expertise. The book, written and edited by internationally recognized experts who have been directly involved in the international consensus guidelines for breast cancer in young women, pays particular attention to how the disease and its planned treatment can be effectively communicated to young patients. Highly informative and carefully structured, it provides both theoretical and practice-oriented insight for practitioners and professionals involved in the different phases of treatment, from diagnosis to intervention, to follow-up – without neglecting the important role played by prevention.
