Abstract
This atlas presents outstanding three-dimensional (3D) echocardiographic images of structural heart diseases, including congenital and valvular diseases and cardiac masses and tumors. The aim is to enable the reader to derive maximum diagnostic and treatment benefit from the modality through optimal image acquisition and interpretation. To this end a wide range of instructive individual cases are depicted, with sequential arrangement of all images and views of diagnostic value, including 3D zoom, full-volume, and live 3D images. For each case, a key lesson is highlighted and attention is drawn to aspects of relevance to diagnosis and treatment. In addition, readers will have online access to echocardiographic video clips for each patient. The closing part of the book examines the role of 3D echocardiography in structural heart disease interventions. The superb quality of the illustrations and the range of cases considered ensure that this atlas will be an excellent visual learning tool and an ideal aid for cardiology residents and fellows in day-to-day clinical practice.

Abstract
This book summarizes how the renin angiotensin system is implicated in the progression of atherosclerotic disease as well as of left ventricular dysfunction and reviews the action of angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors and AT1 receptor antagonists on reducing morbidity and mortality in patients with left ventricular dysfunction or in those at high cardiovascular risk with preserved ventricular function. ACEi and ARBS in Hypertension and Heart Failure is a highly practical reference reviewing the evidence and providing a rationale for the appropriate use of RAS antagonists in cardiovascular diseases. It is written in an easy-to-follow format and with many illustrations to aid clarity and the assimilation of information. Each chapter is written by established authorities in their fields who are also experienced in explaining often complex concepts. The result is a unique book which is not only comprehensive but also clear and useful for the busy medical practitioner.
Contents
1. Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Inhibitors and AT1 Antagonists for Treatment of Hypertension -- 2. ACE Inhibitor and Renin–Angiotensin System the Cornerstone of Therapy for Systolic Heart Failure -- 3. Impact of Chronic Kidney Disease and Diabetes Mellitus on Choice of Renin Angiotensin System: Inhibitors in Patients with Hypertension and Heart Failure -- 4. Target Organ Damage and RAAS Blockade.

Abstract
This new and revised edition of this definitive text on this topic provides extensive comprehensive guidance on the management of acute heart failure, the potentially life-threatening situation where correct, rapid therapy can save lives. It presents the latest research and studies and combines this latest understanding of the pathophysiology with a practical guide to diagnosis and management using a thoroughly evidence-based approach. Always keeping the underlying pathophysiology at the forefront of the discussion, Acute Heart Failure encourages readers to understand the underlying pathogenesis and pathobiology of the acute situation and how to direct management in order to address the abnormal physiology. This revision to a seminal text includes new and substantial insights gained over the last few years and represents a valuable source to any practitioner who treats patients with acute heart failure who wants a comprehensive and deeper understanding of the condition, as well as expanding their capacities for an individualized approach to each patient.
Contents

Abstract
This book describes the most popular topics concerning adult congenital heart disease (ACHD), especially focusing on indications and re-intervention procedures for some major ACHDs. Thanks to advances in medical and surgical therapy for congenital heart disease over the last half century, many patients who underwent surgical correction reached adulthood. However, as can be seen from the explosive increase in the number of ACHD patients, postoperative residua and sequelae have also become apparent. The purpose of this book is to highlight complicated problems in connection with ACHD, including its present status, as well as methods for its management including medical and surgical treatment. The content primarily focuses on two areas--general information for cardiologists, and information on re-intervention for interventionists and cardiac surgeons--setting it apart from the majority of books on congenital heart disease.
Contents

Heart Failure in Adults with Congenital Heart Disease -- 5. Rhythm Disturbance/Sudden Death -- Part III. Intervention/Re-intervention Considerations -- 6. Perioperative Anesthetic Management of Adult Patients with Congenital Heart Disease -- 7. Therapeutic Catheter Intervention for Adult Patients with Congenital Heart Disease (ASD, PDA) -- 8. Repaired Tetralogy of Fallot -- 9. Post-RV-PA Conduit Repair -- 10. Repaired Complete Transposition of the Great Arteries -- 11. Congenitally Corrected Transposition of the Great Arteries -- 12. Abstract
This book synthesizes the major research advances in molecular, biochemical, and translational aspects of aging and heart failure over the last four decades and addresses future directions in management and drug discovery. It presents clinical issues and molecular mechanisms related to heart failure, including the changing demographics in the aging population with heart failure; hypertension and prevention of diastolic heart failure in the aging population; polypharmacy and adverse drug reactions in the aging population with heart failure; changes in the heart that accompany advancing age from humans to molecules; aging-associated alterations in myocardial inflammation and fibrosis; and aging-related changes in mitochondrial function and implications for heart failure therapy. The book succinctly summarizes the large volume of data on these key topics and highlights novel pathways that need to be explored. Featuring contributions from leading clinician-scientists, Aging and Heart Failure: Mechanisms and Management is an authoritative resource on the major clinical issues in heart failure therapy in the elderly for cardiologists, gerontologists, and internists.

Abstract
This Atlas provides readers with a case-based overview of mitral valve structure and echocardiographic evaluation. The clinical scenarios illustrate how the various echocardiographic parameters provide incremental value in the accurate assessment of mitral valve dysfunction. Detailed, noninvasive assessment of the mitral valve remains integral for planning and performance of mitral valve surgery. Increasingly, echocardiographic assessment and real-time guidance are also required to facilitate percutaneous treatment options. We highlight important imaging aspects of these cases, along with salient teaching points and further recommended reading. An Atlas of Mitral Valve Imaging will be particularly useful for readers as a contemporary instructional review of the various imaging techniques. The book also provides numerous video files that can be used to test understanding of the real-world imaging appearance of the mitral valve. A wide range of conditions are included to illustrate the breadth of mitral valve pathology and the challenges faced in acquiring optimal images.
