Abstract
This book is primarily for pediatric and adult emergency room physicians, primary care providers, hospitalists, and nurses. It will also be useful for critical care specialists, cardiologists and trainees at all levels. Cardiac Emergencies in Children describes the pathophysiology of a diverse group of congenital and acquired heart conditions and presents a therapeutic rationale for treating children presenting with these conditions under life-threatening conditions. The book discusses the effects of surgery on hemodynamics and how to manage these effects. Also described are the daily challenges faced by physicians, including identifying a child with heart disease, interpreting chest radiographs, ECGs, and laboratory findings, and beginning appropriate therapies.
Contents
Emergency Presentation of Heart Disease -- Recognizing, stabilizing, and managing children with heart failure in the emergency department and other acute care settings -- Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome -- Functionally Univentricular Heart with Right Heart Hypoplasia -- Common Surgical Interventions Resulting in Alterations in Hemodynamics -- Management of a Patient with Left to Right Shunt -- Cardiac Pharmacology -- ARRHYTHMIA IDENTIFICATION: STABILIZTION AND TREATMENT -- Hypercyanotic Spells -- Radiographic Evaluation of the Child with Heart Disease -- Child with Heart Transplant: Unique Immunologic and Hemodynamic Issues and Their Management -- Pediatric Mechanical Circulatory Support -- Recognition, Stabilization, and Management of Children with Pulmonary -- Hypertension in the Emergency Department -- Emergency Interventional Cardiology in Children -- Common Problems in Emergency Department in a Child with Known Heart Disease -- Recognizing and Managing Cardiogenic Shock -- Point-of-Care Cardiac Ultrasound in the Emergency Department -- Infective Endocarditis -- Inflammatory Heart Diseases in Children -- Cardiac Emergencies in Countries with Limited Resources -- Evaluation and Management of Pediatric Chest pain, Syncope and Murmur in the Emergency Department.

Abstract
In recent years, progress in oncologic therapy has achieved important goals and a consequent prognostic improvement for patients with malignancy, but cardiac toxicity is often a concern and can have long-term functional or structural effects on the heart. This book is written for the cardiologist working in a clinical environment without support from a specific specialized cardio-oncologist team, and who are called to perform a clinical consultation to evaluate a cardiac condition and the eligibility for a patient to receive chemotherapy or radiotherapy. Cardiac Management of Oncology Patients: Clinical Handbook for Cardio-Oncology is also designed for oncologists and cardiologists to evaluate if a cancer treatment has produced toxic effects on a patient who has either recently or historically been treated with chemo or radiotherapy. The reader will discover more about the cardiac damage potentially created by the oncologic therapy that they are considering for the treatment of their patients.
Contents

Abstract
Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) has been in clinical use for some 40 years, but it is only in the past decade that its application in the treatment of life-threatening circulatory and respiratory failure has truly flourished. This book presents a comprehensive overview of both pathophysiological and practical aspects of circulatory and respiratory extracorporeal support. The basics of ECMO, including its history, the "ECMO team", cannulation, materials, and blood-surface interactions, are first discussed. The various indications for and particular characteristics of circulatory and respiratory extracorporeal life support are then described in detail in the main part of the book. Patient care during ECMO and monitoring of the ECMO patient are also carefully covered, with explanation of the management of technical and clinical complications and transport-related problems. Further topics include long-term therapy options beyond ECMO, such as ventricular assist devices and transplants, outcome, the new frontiers of ECMO for organ procurement and future challenges.

Abstract
Exercise Cardiopulmonary Function in Cardiac Patients represents an extended review of exercise cardiopulmonary function in both cardiac patients and healthy subjects. A large part of the book deals with the influence of exercise on the cardiopulmonary system, while sections are devoted to an investigation of cardiopulmonary physiology underlying the cardiac disease process in these patients. This approach enables a wide range of complex cardiac problems to be reviewed. The material presented in the book is ideal in terms of understanding cardiac disease and its management via the application of changes to the patient's physical activity. Based on the assumption that the reader should at least be acquainted with medical physiology, especially of the cardiopulmonary system, this book expands upon the reader's understanding of the cardiopulmonary response to various modes of exercise in healthy subjects, since to understand pathology, one has to know healthy responses. Therefore this book will be of particular interest to trainees in internal medicine, cardiology, intensive care, anesthesiology and emergency medicine.
Contents
1. Exercise physiology -- 2. Pulmonary function -- 3. Cardiac output -- 4. Cardiac output redistribution -- 5. Left ventricular function -- 6. Blood pressure and hypertension -- 7. Metabolic cardiovascular risk factors -- 8. Cardiopulmonary function in elderly -- 9. Exercise and sudden death -- 10. Cardiac rehabilitation.

Abstract
This practical book describes a systematic approach to the ultrasound examination of the fetal heart based on accepted screening recommendations. The written content is enhanced by images and videos of both normal and abnormal sonographic findings. Fetal Cardiology: A Practical Approach to Diagnosis and Management goes further than simply describing core screening views. It includes extended views of the fetal heart, the use of Doppler techniques and assessment of fetal cardiac function. "Variants" which can be encountered in practice are described as well as the features of the major groups of cardiac abnormalities and fetal arrhythmias. Because the authors include experienced fetal and paediatric cardiologists, the focus is not only on diagnostic features but also the approach to postnatal care and prognosis. This content is enhanced by inclusion of chapters relating to associated fetal abnormalities, the genetics of congenital heart disease and new imaging modalities such as MRI of the fetal heart. The book equips all those using ultrasound to image the fetus with a clear concise reference to meet the challenge of new guidelines and to expand their knowledge of complementary echocardiographic techniques and management. It details why prenatal recognition of congenital heart disease is being prioritised to allow for parental choice, recognition of associated abnormalities and improvement of postnatal outcome. As such, this book will be important for all professionals, whether they be a cardiologist, fetal medicine specialist, sonographer or midwife.

Abstract
This book serves as a pocket-sized resource to aid with the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular disease in the inpatient setting. Containing up-to-date information from guidelines and clinical trials, this book is the only handbook-style reference on cardiac care designed specifically for the hospitalist. The first section of the book covers cardiac pathology with an emphasis on evidence-based and guideline-based approaches to patient care. Each chapter focuses on a specific cardiovascular disease state such as acute coronary syndrome, atrial fibrillation, pulmonary hypertension, and aortic disease. The second section examines the differential diagnoses and recommended workup for common cardiac chief complaints including chest pain, palpitations, syncope, and dyspnea. The third and final section discusses indications and interpretation of commonly used cardiac procedures and imaging modalities. This book provides a concise review over a broad range of cardiovascular disease states in an accessible handbook-style to aid with the care of these patients. The Handbook of Inpatient Cardiology is an essential resource for physician hospitalists caring for cardiac patients on the medical ward in addition to cardiology physicians and trainees, affiliate providers, and students.
