Abstract
This book describes the pathogenesis and treatment of several representative hematological disorders in children, with a special focus on genetic and molecular aspects. Research on the pathogenesis of hematological disorders in children has made remarkable strides; especially molecular target therapy has shown outstanding effects in refractory and conventional therapies for childhood leukemia. The findings presented in this book will broaden readers' understanding and hopefully spark new discussions leading to the development of new therapies including cell therapy and molecular target therapy, allowing clinicians to use more effective and less toxic approaches in the future. Hematological Disorders in Children will appeal to a wide readership, from medical students and beginning investigators to experienced scholars in the field of pediatric hematology and oncology seeking to broaden their understanding and keep up with the latest developments. It will also be of interest to the parents of pediatric patients, and to co-medical staffs.

Abstract
This book, in Q&A format, addresses a wide range of clinically relevant topics and issues in Nonmalignant Hematology, or "Benign Hematology", with a view to offering a robust, engaging tool that will assist every hematologist and oncologist (pediatric and adult equally) in making decisions during day-to-day practice. The entire spectrum of the specialty is covered in more than 60 exceptional chapters written by acknowledged authorities in the field. The content is organized into well-designed broad sections on red cell disorders, platelet and coagulation disorders, coagulopathy in systemic diseases, thromboembolic disease and its management (including surgical), immune system and related disorders, hemostasis and thrombosis during pregnancy and in the newborn and elderly, and Transfusion Medicine. A key aspect of the book is the opportunity it affords expert physicians to express well-reasoned opinions regarding complex issues in Nonmalignant Hematology. Readers will find that it provides a practical and immediately applicable compendium of answers to often complex and vexing questions. It will appeal to residents, fellows, house officers and more experienced practitioners around the globe.

Abstract
The Editors and contributors of this book take seriously the statement that 'For all of the science inherent in the specialty of pediatric critical care medicine, there is still art in providing comfort and solace to our patients and their families. No technology will ever replace the compassion in the touch of a hand or the soothing words of a calm and gentle voice.' The four volumes of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine: Basic Science and Clinical Evidence, 2nd Edition detail the continued growth and evolution of the pediatric critical care medicine speciality. They reveal the technological innovations in monitoring and information management and gives witness to the rapid evolution and adoption of novel monitoring techniques, such as continuous venous oximetry and near-infrared spectroscopy. They also cover advances in molecular biology that have led to the era of personalized medicine with the ability to individualize treatment to the unique and specific needs of a patient. As such this volume and its three sister titles will be of immense value to all studying and practicing pediatric critical care medicine or those involved in the management of this group of patients.

Abstract
This book is a concise guide to vascular embolization and provides a perspective to the operator regarding embolization procedures in various clinical settings. This procedure has gained acceptance in terms of safety and efficacy with the advent of more advanced hardware like microcatheters, embolization materials and high resolution digital imaging. It is especially useful in patients with several critical co-morbid medical conditions which preclude radical surgeries as it is organ preserving, with limited complications. Therapeutic Embolization discusses indications for the procedure, materials used, established techniques, complications and outcomes of embolization in a detailed but practical manner. While it does not claim to be a comprehensive textbook, it concentrates on providing clinically relevant information on the technique suitable for cardiologists and radiologists training to use the techniques.
Contents
1. Overview of vascular embolizations: indications, complications and guidelines -- 2. Materials used for vascular embolization -- 3. Bronchial artery embolization for massive hemoptysis -- 4. Renal artery embolization for bleeding, angiolipoma, renal cell carcinoma and certain medical conditions -- 5. Splenic artery embolization for non-surgical splenectomy --6. Uterine artery embolization for bleeding due to fibroids -- 7. Miscellaneous indications for embolization: indications for bleeding or for decreasing vascularity in different vascular beds.

Abstract
This clinical casebook covers transfusion medicine theory and its practical implications for the obstetrical hemorrhage patient through the presentation of cases on actively bleeding patients. Each case features a unique clinical scenario involving a bleeding patient and outlines different aspects of safe and effective transfusion support. The cases contain current evidence on the latest topics in the field, such as the use of antifibrinolytic agents and coagulation factor concentrates in the setting of massive obstetrical hemorrhage. In addition to the actively bleeding patient, the casebook includes other important management topics, including the role of plasma exchange in thrombotic microangiopathies during pregnancy; treatment of hyperhemolysis in a patient with hemoglobinopathy; and recommended management of patients with red cell antibodies found on prenatal testing. Other immunohematology topics such as post-natal management of an RhD negative woman for the prevention of hemolytic disease of the newborn due to anti-Rh(D) are included. Written by transfusion medicine, coagulation, obstetrical, and anesthesiology experts,Transfusion Management of the Obstetrical Patient: A Clinical Casebook is a concise yet comprehensive resource for anesthesiologists, obstetricians, pathologists, hematologists, and other practitioners who treat obstetrical hemorrhage patients.
Contents
Obstetrical Management of Postpartum Hemorrhage -- Laboratory Testing and Predictors of Severe Postpartum Hemorrhage -- Component Therapy in Obstetric Hemorrhage -- Evidence for 1:1:1 Transfusion Support and Importance of a Hemorrhage Protocol -- Evidence for/against Administration of Anti-fibrinolytic Agents during an Obstetrical Hemorrhage -- Evidence for/against Administration of Fibrinogen Concentrate and Coagulation Factor Concentrate during an Obstetrical Hemorrhage -- Recommendations on Blood Recovery in Obstetrics -- Thrombocytopenia in Pregnancy -- Von Willebrand Disease in Pregnancy -- Platelet Count and Neuraxial Anesthesia -- ABO Compatibility -- RhD Compatibility -- Other Rh Antibodies that Can Impact Transfusion -- Importance of Getting a Sample for ABO Type Early in a Resuscitation -- Risks of Giving Uncrossmatched Red Cells -- Management of Thrombotic Microangiopathies in Pregnancy -- Hyperhemolysis Syndrome in a Pregnant Woman with Sickle Cell Anemia -- Fetal and Neonatal Alloimmune Thrombocytopenia -- Weak D in Pregnancy -- Testing Algorithm for Rh Immune Globulin Dosing in the Post-natal RhD-negative Mother -- Pre-transfusion Testing in Women with High -- Warm Autoantibodies During Pregnancy -- Hemolytic Disease of the Fetus and Newborn/Selection of Red Cells for Intrauterine Transfusion -- Maternal Red Cell Alloantibody Directed Against a High Incidence Antigen.
