Abstract
This book guides readers through the correct use and consequent diagnostic and therapeutic relevance of 24-h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) in a wide spectrum of clinical presentations and different phenotypes of arterial hypertension. On the basis of eight case studies, the author reviews and discusses current guidelines and recommendations aimed at optimizing the diagnostic and therapeutic approach in commonly encountered real-world clinical scenarios, including challenging cases of white-coat hypertension, masked hypertension, isolated nocturnal or diurnal hypertension, hypertension and obstructive sleep apnea, pseudo-resistant and true-resistant hypertension, and drug-induced hypotension. This handy and practical book provides physicians in the area of general and internal medicine, as well as specialists in cardiovascular risk, valuable insights for optimizing the treatment of these hypertensive patients.

Abstract
This volume discusses the many ways to prevent, identify and control hypertension in African Americans, a common and potent risk factor for virtually all forms of cardiovascular-renal diseases. Comprehensive chapters address modifiable risk factors, such as lifestyle changes, especially sodium restriction, and appropriate combination pharmacotherapy. Emerging devices and evidence-based approaches that may also enhance effective blood pressure control and decrease the disparate cardiovascular disease risks, including MI, stroke, HF, and cardiorenal metabolic syndrome and diabetes are also discussed in detail. Written by a wide-range of experts in the field, Hypertension in High Risk African Americans: Current Concepts, Evidence-based Therapeutics and Future Considerations is a valuable resource for clinicians, researchers, health administrators and public health policy leaders to better understand the best practices and unique aspects of risk assessment and treatment of hypertension and co-morbid conditions in African Americans.

Abstract
The fourth edition of this book is the most comprehensive major reference work on hypertension in children and adolescents. Since the publication of the previous edition, there have been notable changes in the field, with the arrival of new evidence of the long-term sequelae of hypertension in youth, an evidence-based review of the value of routine BP screening in children and adolescents, and further evidence of the cardiovascular consequences of the childhood obesity epidemic. This expanded edition covers these new findings, while featuring new chapters on such timely topics as routine blood pressure screening, hypertension in late adolescents/young adults, and current pediatric hypertension research. The reference work also includes thorough updates on chapters from the previous edition, as well as new clinical practice guidelines for childhood hypertension, which have not been revised since 2004. Written by experts in the field, Pediatric Hypertension, Fourth Edition is the definitive resource for clinicians and researchers interested in childhood hypertension.

Abstract
A growing number of people suffer from so-called resistant hypertension, that is to say, high blood pressure that does not respond to treatment. This disorder is of great current interest and importance for public health, being a common clinical problem faced by both primary care clinicians and specialists. Furthermore, as older age and obesity are among the strongest risk factors for uncontrolled hypertension, the incidence of resistant hypertension will likely increase as the population becomes more elderly and heavier. While the prognosis of resistant hypertension is unknown, cardiovascular risk is undoubtedly increased since patients often have a history of long-standing, severe hypertension complicated by multiple other cardiovascular risk factors. This volume, compiled by a panel of world-renowned experts, offers a comprehensive exploration of resistant hypertension, covering epidemiology, complex diagnostic aspects, and the therapeutic options currently available, with due attention to overall treatment strategies. New therapeutic agents and procedures, such as renal denervation and baroreceptor stimulation, are also described. In addition, the book addresses the economic aspects of resistant hypertension and the role of the different professional figures, from GPs to hypertension specialists, in dealing with it.
Contents
1. Resistant Hypertension: Definition, Prevalence and Cardiovascular Risk -- Part I. Pathophysiology -- 2. Resistant Hypertension: Neurohumoral Aspects -- 3. Metabolic Alterations -- 4. Cardiac and Vascular Alterations in Resistant Hypertension -- 5. The Pathophysiology of the Kidney in Resistant Hypertension -- Part II. Diagnostic Aspects -- 6. False vs. True Resistant Hypertension -- 7. Causes of Resistant Hypertension -- 8. 24-hour Ambulatory BP Monitoring and Home BP Measurements in Resistant Hypertension -- 9. Factors Predicting Blood Pressure Response to Treatment -- 10. Treatment of Resistant Hypertension. Which Additional Antihypertensive Drugs? -- 11. The Role of Renal Denervation -- 12. The Role of Carotid Baroreceptor Stimulation -- 13. Pathophysiology: Metabolic Alterations and Risk Factors -- 14. Follow-up of Patients with Resistant Hypertension -- 15. Resistant Hypertension: Cost-Benefit Considerations -- 16. Involvement of Health Professionals: From the General Practitioner to the Hypertension Specialist and the Hypertension Center.

Abstract
This book provides a comprehensive overview of secondary hypertension for clinicians, including cardiologists as well as primary training physicians and general practitioners. A large number of patients suffer from high blood pressure, and it was previously thought that secondary hypertension accounted for 10% of all cases. However, according to new studies, the proportion of secondary hypertension is much higher than this. While hypertensive patients are usually treated in the cardiovascular department, secondary hypertension involves diseases in various fields, such as renal, endocrinological, immunological and urological diseases. This book allows readers to gain a thorough understanding of the screening, diagnosis and treatment of secondary hypertension. It first discusses screening strategies for secondary hypertension, including clinical manifestations, general tests and special tests. It then addresses specific aspects of hypertension related to other diseases, like renal parenchymal diseases, transplantation, congenital diseases, endocrine, neurogenic and psychosocial disorders, vascular conditions, sleep apnoea syndrome, connective tissue disease and metabolic-associated hypertension. Lastly, it covers secondary hypertension related to rare heredity conditions.
Contents
Part I. General theory of secondary hypertension -- 1. Screening strategies for secondary hypertension -- 2. The clinical manifestations of secondary hypertension, Medical history, symptoms and signs -- 3. General laboratory tests -- 4. Special laboratory tests -- Part II. Theories of Secondary Hypertension -- 5. Renal parenchymal hypertension -- 6. Renovascular hypertension -- 7. Other renal diseases-related high blood pressure -- 8. Vascular disease hypertension -- 9. Endocrine hypertension -- 10. Neurogenic hypertension -- 11. Psychosocial disorders and hypertension -- 12. Cardiovascular disease and hypertension -- 13.
