This comprehensive atlas, containing a wealth of high-quality images, illustrates the complete spectrum of presentations of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). It focuses especially on the most recent developments in the use of endoscopy in IBD, providing detailed guidance on endoscopic indices of disease activity, diagnosis, and differential diagnosis. In addition to ileocolonoscopy, small bowel endoscopy, and esophagogastroduodenoscopy, chapters are included on the role of both established radiological techniques, such as CT, MRI, and abdominal ultrasonography, and the newest approaches, including high-resolution endoscopy, narrow band imaging, and confocal laser endomicroscopy. Extraintestinal manifestations and complications are addressed in separate chapters, and the book concludes by presenting surgical findings. The authors are international authorities with diverse expert knowledge who have collaborated to create an ideal tool for all who wish to master endoscopic evaluation in IBD.

Abstract
As the number of patients with colitis-associated cancer (CAC) is on the increase, the purpose of this book is to review the latest topics concerning management of the disease. In recent years, the diagnostic power of endoscopy and molecular pathology has also grown tremendously, as a result of which they now have a far greater influence on the treatment of CAC. At the moment, appropriate monitoring programs for ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease remain uncertain. At the same time, the latest findings on DNA methylation and microRNAs hold the promise of making revolutionary changes in these areas. Moreover, recent drug advances in the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases have changed surgical indications. On the other hand, the indication of mucosectomy on colorectal cancer in ulcerative colitis and prophylactic abdominoperineal resection for Crohn's disease remain controversial. This book provides the latest information on the remaining issues of CAC from the point of view of expert surgeons.

Abstract
This practical volume is intended for all radiologists, gastroenterologists, and surgeons who are responsible for, or interested in, the diagnosis and care of patients with diseases of the anal and perianal region. After an introductory section focusing on surgical, MRI, and US anatomy, up-to-date clinical and therapeutic information is provided on the full range of perianal inflammatory conditions, with special attention to Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, and sexually transmitted diseases. Physical and surgical examination is carefully discussed, with consideration of limitations, results, clinical needs, and the questions likely to be posed of imaging. The subsequent three sections provide detailed information on the different imaging modalities: transanal and transperineal ultrasound, contrast-enhanced MRI, and CT. Techniques, diagnostic accuracy, common and unusual disease patterns, artifacts, and pitfalls are clearly presented.

Abstract
In recent years, there has been huge interest in developing new methods that offer improved accuracy for the detection of small bowel pathology, and in particular for the assessment of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). Cross-sectional imaging, such as CT and MR, has advantages over traditional barium fluoroscopic techniques in terms of direct visualization of the bowel wall and improved visualization of extraluminal findings and complications. This means a complete change in the diagnostic approach to the patient with IBD: from analysis of the bowel surface to direct evaluation of parietal alterations and assessment of peri- and extraintestinal involvement. The ideal imaging test is reproducible, well tolerated by patients and, above all, free of ionizing radiation. MR enterography, currently performed only in a few reference centers, meets these criteria and offers accurate diagnosis, particularly in respect of the wide spectrum of intra- and extraintestinal complications of IBD. This book provides a thorough overview of the indications, techniques, diagnostic advantages, and limitations of MR enterography. Particular attention is paid to patient preparation in relation to the particular study type and to the potential advantages of the most up-to-date MR studies in specific cases, e.g., allergy or renal failure. A separate chapter is devoted to MR of perianal region for the detection and staging of perianal fistula, a common complication in patients with Crohn's disease.
Contents
1. Introduction -- Part I. MR Enterography: Technique and Anatomy -- 2. Technique -- 3. Normal MR Anatomy -- Part II. MR Enterography: Clinical Applications -- 4. MR Findings in Crohn’s Disease -- 5. Extraintestinal Complications -- 6. Perianal Complications -- 7. Other Indications for MRE.
