Abstract
This updated edition provides clinicians from various backgrounds and levels of training the information needed to optimally diagnose and manage neurologic complications of the nervous system. Organized into seven sections, this comprehensive volume begins with an overview of diagnostic studies for neurologic complications involving the nervous system. That is followed by sections on metastatic and non-metastatic complications of cancer involving the nervous system, and the interpretation, diagnosis, and management of common neuro-oncologic symptoms. The next section reviews the neurologic complications of cancer therapy, including corticosteroids, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, targeted molecular therapies, immunotherapies, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, and infections involving the nervous system. The final section focuses on the most important neurologic complications in cancers arising from specific organs. In addition to capturing the latest advancements in the rapidly evolving fields of oncology and cancer neurology, the goal of this resource is to lead clinicians toward prompt diagnosis and intervention in order to improve patient quality of life. "This textbook is a valuable resource for medical oncologists and radiation oncologists, as well as neurologists and neuro-oncologists dealing with these patients. Overall, the chapters are well organized, clearly written, fairly balanced, and reasonably up to date. I would recommend it as a learning tool to physicians in training (medical students, residents, and fellows) and for more experienced physicians as both a review/ update and a way to gain more in-depth knowledge and insight into the neurologic problems of cancer patients." (John C. Flickinger, International Journal of Radiation Oncology Biology Physics, Vol. 73 (2), 2009) "The general organization of the book is logical and facilitates its practical and everyday use. Overall this textbook is very comprehensive and encompasses main neuro-oncological challenges. Schiff, Kesari and Wen have edited a very elegant and highly practical textbook, written by recognized authorities in their respective fields, which will be used by a wide range of medical and surgical specialists who are confronted on a daily basis with neurological manifestations of cancer in their practice." (I. Radovanovic and G. Zadeh, British Journal of Cancer, Vol. 100 (6), 2009).

Covering a range of modalities, from the importance and impact of each disease to diagnostic criteria, genetics, laboratory and imaging findings, treatment and care paths, this book focuses on neurological conditions that occur commonly in older persons or which have a striking effect on their lives. The common types of dementias, Parkinson's disease and related disorders, rapidly progressive diseases, seizure disorders and multiple sclerosis are covered. Issues commonly affecting this population, such as neurobehavioral symptoms and caregiver issues, are discussed. Neuro-Geriatrics: A Clinical Manual is aimed at any physician who treats the elderly with neurological disorders: neurologists, geriatricians and geriatric psychiatrists, both specialists and general practitioners.

Abstract
This clinically focused book aims to cover for the first time all of the neurological aspects relevant to the diagnosis and treatment of spinal cord disease. Furthermore, innovative neurorestorative therapeutic strategies--aiming for repair of the damaged spinal cord and/or reorganization of the remaining nervous system--with significant potential for translation into clinical routine are presented. The book covers a comprehensive list of topics, including epidemiology, neuroanatomy, etiology of compressive and non-compressive spinal cord injury, imaging, neurophysiology, neurological sequelae, and complications with emphasis on dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system. Both clinically established and preclinical therapies are discussed in detail. The book is suited for trainees and practicing clinicians including neurologists, spine surgeons, rehabilitation specialists, neuroradiologists, and occupational/physical therapists; it will also be of value to neuroscientists involved in research into spinal cord disease.
Contents
Part I: Basics -- 1. Epidemiology of Spinal Cord Injury -- 2. Functional Neuroanatomy of the Spinal Cord -- 3. Pattern of Neurological Dysfunction in Spinal Cord Disease -- 4. Natural Course of Disease of Spinal Cord Injury -- Part II: Non-traumatic Spinal Cord Injury -- 5. Spinal Cord Vascular Disease -- 6. Abstract
Neurological Syndromes: A Clinical Guide to Symptoms and Diagnosis offers a concise, invaluable resource for understanding how a group of neurologic symptoms or signs collectively characterize a disease or disorder. Intended as a quick reference guide to the better known and some less familiar syndromes of neurological interest and developed by a renowned pediatric neurologist with more than 40 years experience in treating children, adolescents, and young adults, this handy title provides a definition of each syndrome that includes diagnostic characteristics and abnormalities, a differential diagnosis, genetic considerations, and a short list of references. To those readers who can recall the name of a syndrome, the alphabetical presentation should facilitate a review of the major diagnostic characteristics. The original reference is provided for historical interest, and review articles are included to show recent advances in etiology and treatment. The index is arranged in alphabetical order of the named syndromes and also according to the involvement of various organs in addition to the nervous system. A unique contribution to the literature, Neurological Syndromes: A Clinical Guide to Symptoms and Diagnosis will be of great interest to the wide variety of clinicians treating patients with neurologic disease.

Abstract
Better understand your patients' complete medical profile and provide the best possible care! This one-of-a-kind reference provides a practical look at neurological disease and how it affects, and is affected by, other disease. It helps neurologists manage patients with co-existing medical conditions, and helps internists understand and treat the neurological manifestations of patients' primary diseases. A new emphasis on diagnosis and management--including advances in pharmacology, genetic-based therapies, and new imaging techniques--makes this 4th Edition more clinically valuable than ever! Focused content highlights the vital links between neurology and other medical specialties, promoting a better understanding of all disciplines, as well as enhancing patient care. Comprehensive coverage of advances in pharmacology, such as new antibiotics for infectious diseases, helps you successfully manage a full range of diseases and disorders. An interdisciplinary team of authors provides insight into the neurological aspects of the conditions you see in daily practice. Easy-to-read chapters apply equally well to neurologists and non-neurologists, providing essential knowledge that covers the full spectrum of medical care.

Abstract
Neurology for the Hospitalist is a concise and eminently practical resource for inpatient neurological care. Internal Medicine Hospitalists frequently face patients with neurological issues and many feel that their training was insufficient in this area. Hospitalists are often the primary inpatient care providers for this patient population as many perceive Neurology to be an Internal Medicine subspecialty. Both new and experienced hospitalists will benefit from this handbook. In addition, medical students and residents will find this to be an excellent at the bedside resource. The format of the handbook allows one to quickly learn the differential diagnosis, appropriate testing, signs to watch for, and treatment strategies for the most frequently encountered neurologic conditions. Each topic covers commonly asked questions and elements that warrant close attention. For the hospitalist in particular, proposed quality metrics are given for major neurological diagnoses. No other book provides the hospitalist caring for patients with neurological issues the essential elements of that care in such a useable way. The focus is on practical information that will guide the best care. Readership: Primary: Internal Medicine Hospitalists Additional: Neurohospitalists, Residents (internal medicine, neurology, etc) and Medical Students on inpatient rotations in neurology and internal medicine.
