Abstract
Adolescents have unique nutritional needs when compared to young children and adults. As youth go through physical, cognitive, and behavioral development, nutrition needs are dynamic and changing. If these needs go undetected and remain unaddressed, the results can derail physical and social maturation and include life-long effects on health. This comprehensive text offers a multidisciplinary perspective on aspects of adolescent nutrition. Using clinical cases, it covers relevant topics related to adolescent health including normal development, chronic health conditions, and complex biopsychosocial dynamics, among others. The first section of the text contains an overview of adolescent nutrition that is further broken down into more specific topics such as developmental nutrition needs, needs of active youth and athletes and media influences on body image. The next section focuses on health disparities such as culturally appropriate care, health equity, international considerations and food insecurity. The following section specifically addresses eating disorders ranging from anorexia and bulimia to binge eating. Finally, the last section covers additional health considerations such as polycystic ovarian syndrome, teen pregnancy, substance use and gender non-conforming youth. Written by experts in the field, this book is a helpful resource for primary care medical providers, registered dietitians, adolescent medicine specialists as well as advanced practice nurses, physician assistants and athletic trainers.

Abstract
This book illustrates the role of Mediterranean diet in connection with well-being and particularly its impact on health and elderly care, as well as on the mechanisms of aging. Aging is a natural process of human life. The knowledge that a healthy dietary regimen like the Mediterranean diet can effectively prevent or delay many diseases typically affecting aging people may help to better manage the aging process. From this point of view, knowledge of the numerous benefits of the Mediterranean-style diet may effectively promote better management of the burden of elderly care. As early as the 1950s, Ancel Keys pointed out the effectiveness of the Mediterranean diet in helping to control, and possibly avoid, myocardial infarction and/or cholesterol metabolism. Quite soon after the first studies were published, it became clear that the Mediterranean diet was beneficial not only in connection with cardiovascular disease but also many other diseases, from diabetes to hypertension, from cancer and thrombosis to neurodegenerative diseases, including dementia. Examining those benefits in detail, this book offers a valuable educational tool for young professionals and caregivers, as well as for students and trainees in Geriatrics and Nutrition.

Abstract
This book equips readers with the knowledge required to improve diagnosis and treatment and to implement integrated prevention programs in patients with eating and weight disorders. It does so by providing a comprehensive, up-to-date review of research findings and theoretical assumptions concerning the interface and interactions between body image and such disorders as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, other specified feeding and eating disorders, orthorexia nervosa, overweight, and obesity. After consideration of issues of definition and classification, the opening part of the book examines the concept of body image from a variety of viewpoints. A series of chapters are then devoted to the assessment of the multidimensional construct "body image", to dysmorphophobia/body dysmorphic disorder, and to muscle dysmorphia. The third part discusses body image in people suffering from different eating disorders and/or overweight or obesity, and two final chapters focus on body image in the integrated prevention of eating disorders and obesity, and cultural differences regarding body image. The book will be of interest to all health professionals who work in the fields of psychiatry, clinical psychology, eating disorders, obesity, body image, adolescence, public health, and prevention.
Contents
Body schema and body image: a brief history of the concepts -- Neuroscience and body image -- Psychoanalysis and body image -- Family functioning and body image -- Cognitive-behavioral learning theories and body image -- Feminist perspectives on body image. - Body image: gender, age, and ethnic differences -- Body image: methods of assessment in children, adolescents and adults -- Body Uneasiness Test -- Diagnostic classification of body image disturbances -- Body dysmorphic disorder -- Body image and muscle dysmorphia in male -- Dysmorphophobia by Enrico Morselli: selected passages and comment -- Diagnostic classification of eating disorders -- Body image and anorexia nervosa -- Body image and bulimia nervosa -- Body image and binge eating disorder -- Body image and other eating disorders -- Body image and orthorexia nervosa -- Diagnostic classification of overweight and obesities -- Body image and overweight/obesity in children -- Body image and overweight/obesity in adults -- Non-surgical weight loss and body image in children, adolescents and adults -- Body image before and after bariatric surgery in adolescents and adults -- Gender dysphoria, body image, eating, and weight -- Sexual orientation, body image, eating, and weight -- Sexual abuse, body image, eating, and weight -- Body image and integrated prevention of eating and weight disorders.

Abstract
This open access book asks just how climate-smart our food really is. It follows an average day's worth of food and drink to see where it comes from, how far it travels, and the carbon price we all pay for it. From our breakfast tea and toast, through breaktime chocolate bar, to take-away supper, Dave Reay explores the weather extremes the world’s farmers are already dealing with, and what new threats climate change will bring. Readers will encounter heat waves and hurricanes, wildfires and deadly toxins, as well as some truly climate-smart solutions. In every case there are responses that could cut emissions while boosting resilience and livelihoods. Ultimately we are all in this together, our decisions on what food we buy and how we consume it send life-changing ripples right through the global web that is our food supply. As we face a future of 10 billion mouths to feed in a rapidly changing climate, it’s time to get to know our farmers and herders, our vintners and fisherfolk, a whole lot better. Dave Reay is Professor of Carbon Management at the University of Edinburgh, UK. He has studied climate change for over 20 years, from warming impacts in the Southern Ocean, through carbon fluxes in forests, to greenhouse gas emissions from wetlands and agriculture. In 2018 he received the Chancellor’s Award for Teaching for his work in climate change education. His latest project involves managing a large area of coastal land in Scotland to regrow native tree species and trap a lifetime’s carbon.

Abstract
This clinical casebook provides a comprehensive yet concise state-of-the-art review of gluten-associated disorders. Presented in a case-based format, the casebook reviews the overall management of celiac disease (from seronegative through classical to refractory disease) as well as non-celiac gluten/wheat sensitivity, with an emphasis on gastrointestinal and extra-intestinal manifestations of these disorders. Specific topics presented in these cases include, for instance, dermatitis herpetiformis, celiac disease and the liver, non-responsive celiac disease, celiac crisis, overlap with functional gastrointestinal disorders, and fructan intolerance. Two chapters written by expert dieticians share their experience in managing celiac disease and gluten/wheat sensitivity. Written by international experts in the field, Diagnosis and Management of Gluten-Associated Disorders: A Clinical Casebook is a valuable resource for both adult and pediatric gastroenterologists, hepatologists, primary care physicians, dermatologists, registered dieticians, trainees, and researchers interested in gluten-associated disorders.

Abstract
Diet quality is a broad term that encapsulates both perceived and actual practices, personal preferences and cultural diversity. Measuring dietary quality can be problematic and includes investigating food types, the number or size of portions or their frequency. Diet quality may also be related to the type of food being ingested, snacking and other eating habits. Manufactured beverages and fast food may also be included as well as microbiological quality and attempts to improve single food items such as meats or vegetables. In this book, Diet Quality: An Evidence-Based Approach, Volume 1 all of the major facets of diet quality in relation to health outcomes are covered. This important new text includes methods for determining diet quality while adopting a holistic approach to impart information on the major areas of concern or knowledge. Chapters link in measurable indices of health such as obesity, pregnancy outcomes, cancer and cancer outcomes, and mortality. This book represents a diverse set of subject matters and seeks to fill a gap in the literature at a time when there is an increasing awareness that well being is associated with the qualitative nature of diets. Contributors are authors of international and national standing and emerging fields of science are incorporated. Diet Quality: An Evidence-Based Approach, Volume 1 is a useful new text designed for nutritionists, dietitians, clinicians, epidemiologist, policy makers and health care professionals of various disciplines.
